A mont later, Sean felt the other side of the bed dip. Ronan must have lain down beside him. Sean could sll the faint scent of disinfectant on him. For so reason, his own body felt feverishly hot, but he didn’t even notice the beads of sweat forming on his face.

"Aren’t you hot, hiding under the covers like that?" Ronan’s gentle voice murmured in his ear.

Beneath the covers, Sean jolted. He didn’t know why. He desperately wanted to run, yet his body remained frozen stiff. To make matters worse, it began to heat up against his will.

When Sean didn’t answer, Ronan tried to lift the covers. But the instant he touched the fabric, Sean clutched it tightly, giving him no chance.

Seeing Sean’s persistence, Ronan dropped his hand. He took off his shirt and lay down beside him.

As the mattress shifted slightly, Sean finally breathed a sigh of relief. All he wanted now was for Ronan to leave him alone, to not even look at him.

Sean carefully lifted the edge of his blanket. Ronan’s back was turned to him. From this angle, Sean could clearly see his injury. The wound was still fresh—so fresh that blood was still seeping out, soaking the bandage.

’He felt a sudden, sharp pang of guilt toward Ronan. Ever since they were kids, Ronan had done so much for him, but he felt like he’d never done anything in return. The only thing Ronan wanted was his acceptance, but Sean couldn’t give him the affection he craved. They had always been such good friends... why did their relationship suddenly turn into this? He couldn’t believe it, and he didn’t want to. He just saw Ronan as an older brother, soone he even depended on. But Ronan’s feelings for him... they weren’t the feelings one has for a younger brother.’

Ronan’s tanned skin and lean, powerful muscles were captivating. The blanket only covered his legs, and the tantalizing sight of his bare torso made Sean’s mouth go dry and his breathing quicken.

"I-I’m going to the bathroom!" He scrambled out from under the covers and fled to the bathroom, keeping his back to Ronan the entire ti so he wouldn’t see his crimson face.

Ronan was puzzled. ’What on earth is wrong with him?’

Just then, his phone rang. Ronan glanced at the caller ID before answering. "We’re in the sa house. Why are you calling?"

"I was afraid I’d disturb you," ca the reply. Dominic Thorne had heard from Felix Locke that Ronan and Sean would be sleeping in the sa room tonight, and he’d been buzzing with excitent for a while. Unable to contain his curiosity, he’d finally decided he had to call to check on the situation. ’If those two sleep together and nothing happens,’ he thought, ’it’ll just prove Ronan is completely useless.’

"You’re already disturbing ." Ronan glanced at the ti. It was already midnight. ’And he has the nerve to say he was afraid of bothering ?’

"So, making good progress?" Dominic’s overexcited voice crackled through the phone.

"What are you so excited about?"

"Why do you think? We all know you two are sleeping in the sa bed! Two lonely... n... in the sa room. Ah, whatever. This is your chance! Make your move!"

"Could you not be so crude?" In truth, Ronan did fantasize about Sean, but Dominic was being far too blatant. As much as Ronan desired him, he would never force Sean or do anything to hurt him.

", crude? I’m looking out for you! Rember that ti you got drunk? You mistook for Sean, whispered all sorts of sweet nothings to , and even forced a kiss on ! I was the victim there, you know!" Dominic protested indignantly.

"When did that happen?" He had no mory of any such event. He was a lightweight and rarely drank. ’When could I have possibly gotten that drunk?’ He really couldn’t rember.
