Kenneth opened the book but found no words. Instead, fragnted scenes appeared before his eyes. They were all their beautiful mories together, but without any dialogue. There was only Asher’s inner monologue.

Reading up to this point, Kenneth slamd the book, which was filled with resentnt, shut. Terrified, he haphazardly shoved it back into place and fled the room like a madman. He locked himself in his own room, leaning against the door and gasping for breath. He had learned too much all at once and was struggling to accept it. ’How could the innocent child who grew up with have turned into this?’
On this day, Kenneth was heading to Valoria to visit friends and relatives. Early that morning, he stood staring at himself in the mirror until a servant ca to call for him. Only then did he snap out of it and get into the sedan chair. Asher followed behind, his face devoid of expression. Kenneth lifted the curtain several tis, wanting to speak to Asher, but each ti he stopped himself.
The procession entered a forest. The trees were lush and dense, blocking out the sunlight. The gloomy surroundings seed to foreshadow that sothing was about to happen.
Sure enough, a group of masked n launched an ambush. Caught completely off guard, Kenneth’s n were no match for the attackers. Soon, Kenneth was taken captive.
A razor-sharp blade was pressed against Kenneth’s neck. The slightest movent would an his death.
