Chapter 90: 090. Taste Changed

Chapter 90: 090. Taste Changed

Lu Moqing hesitated for a mont and looked at Qiao Xu just in ti to see her mysteriously pulling up the corner of her lips before she stepped into the restaurant without a word.

Watching Qiao Xu’s slender figure, Lu Moqing recalled her smile from just monts ago, which seed embedded with a trace of irony. His heart tightened suddenly, and he stood silently outside the restaurant for a few seconds before a thought suddenly struck him.

He rembered that shortly after their marriage, Qiao Xu had waited for him outside Lu’s Tower one day and told him that there was a newly opened Spicy Restaurant in the comrcial plaza near his company. The restaurant had rave reviews, and it took her several attempts to finally make a reservation. She wanted to invite him to dine with her.

At that ti, he didn’t say anything but coldly replied “I don’t eat spicy food” before leaving her alone, standing in front of Lu’s Tower for a long ti.

Thinking back to her previously expectant smile turning stiff and then morphing into a look of disappointnt, Lu Moqing’s heart twisted, the tightness painful.

After standing outside the door for a while, he walked in. Qiao Xu had already taken a seat by the window and was casually browsing through the nu that the waiter had delivered. Owing to the previous incident, Lu Moqing now faced Qiao Xu feeling sowhat guilty and even too afraid to look directly at her.

Qiao Xu ordered a few dishes and returned the nu to the waiter. After Lu Moqing finished ordering, the waiter left.

As they sat facing each other, another awkward silence ensued. Admitting to himself that his past behavior was disgraceful, Lu Moqing couldn’t help feeling guilty and not as overbearing and domineering as before.

Qiao Xu, on the other hand, was only thinking about finishing the al as quickly as possible and leaving, without any desire to speak to Lu Moqing.

At this ti, the restaurant wasn’t crowded, and their dishes arrived quickly. Seeing Qiao Xu only picking at the few lighter dishes while not even attempting the spicy ones he’d ordered especially for her, he was compelled to ask, “Don’t you like spicy food?”

It was only recently that he had learned from Grandma that Qiao Xu used to love spicy food. That was why he had deliberately chosen this Spicy Restaurant, but now she hardly touched any of those dishes. Was it because he had ordered them that she refused to eat them?

At this thought, Lu Moqing’s brows furrowed slightly with displeasure, while Qiao Xu paused her chopsticks in response to the question. However, after only two seconds, she replied indifferently, “I changed my taste.”

What Qiao Xu didn’t tell Lu Moqing was that after she had heard that he didn’t eat spicy food, she forcibly changed her preference for spiciness just to accommodate him.

Only now did she know that it wasn’t that he didn’t eat spicy food, but rather he didn’t want to eat it with her.

At this thought, Qiao Xu gave a self-mocking smile in her heart. Was it that she deserved it? Back then, she couldn’t even discern his obvious rejection and even changed her taste forcibly.

The truth repeatedly slapped her face, one burning slap after another.

Facing Qiao Xu’s indifference, Lu Moqing spoke as if looking for conversation, “It’s not easy to change one’s taste, is it?”

Qiao Xu lifted her gaze from her plate and looked at him, and within her beautiful yet cold eyes were emotions Lu Moqing couldn’t understand. She suddenly said, “It’s not easy to change, but it doesn’t an it’s impossible.”

A man she’d loved so deeply she forced herself to forget, so what was so hard about giving up spicy food?
