In comparison, Nuan Ge’s facial features were a bit flatter, so she didn’t recognize Nuan Ge when she stood in front of her.
At this mont, seeing the slightly uneasy expression on Nuan Ge’s face, Lu Xinyou felt sowhat embarrassed.
She hurriedly explained:
"I was just staring inside and didn’t notice you coming out."
As she explained, she tried to diffuse the awkwardness between them.
Although Nuan Ge was feeling a bit uncomfortable, she had co to join Lu Xinyou, so the two quickly moved on to another topic.
"Youyou, I didn’t recognize you just now either. You’re a hundred tis prettier than in the photos."
Lu Xinyou, feeling flattered and a bit embarrassed, scratched her head and laughed, "It’s not that exaggerated."
She helped Nuan Ge with her suitcase and asked her a few questions about her family back ho.
When she asked about this, Lu Xinyou noticed a slight change in Nuan Ge’s expression.
Lu Xinyou thought she might have touched on a sensitive topic and, seeing that Nuan Ge didn’t want to answer, didn’t press further.
She changed the subject, "Let’s go over there to take a taxi."
"Ok."
Nuan Ge smiled and nodded, following Lu Xinyou to the taxi stand to queue up. While in line, Nuan Ge asked:
"Youyou, how far is your place from the airport?"
"It’s about an hour’s drive."
"An hour?!?"
Nuan Ge exclaid unconsciously, "Wouldn’t a taxi cost us a few hundred yuan? Shouldn’t we take the airport bus instead?"
"It’s okay, the airport bus would take too long. You’ve been on the plane for so long, you must be tired. Let’s go ho and rest."
Lu Xinyou noticed her furrowed brow, her troubled expression, and realized she was worried about the taxi fare. She reassured her:
"Don’t worry about it, you’re my guest, and I’m responsible for all the expenses here."
Upon hearing this, Nuan Ge looked up at her, her face showing so embarrassnt, "That’s still a bit much."
"What’s there to be embarrassed about? We’re friends, aren’t we?"
As they talked, the taxi arrived.
Lu Xinyou helped Nuan Ge lift her suitcase onto the cab, and then the two headed towards Lu Xinyou’s ho in the city center.
An hour later, the taxi stopped outside of Yunting Community.
Nuan Ge’s ho was in a very backward small county town, which was vastly different from the top-tier City C.
Nuan Ge had never been out of the county town, only seen it on TV. Now, faced with the luxurious entrance of a big city’s residential community, she stared at it for a long ti.
The security guards in the community were strictly trained with high standards for both appearance and professional conduct.
Nuan Ge was stunned all the way until she followed Lu Xinyou into the elevator and arrived at her front door.
"Youyou, you must be so rich to rent such a great community."
As she unlocked the door, Lu Xinyou replied:
"I don’t have any money, this house was bought by my big brother."
"Bought?"
Nuan Ge’s face showed shock again, "Your brother must be so rich then?"
"I guess so."
Lu Xinyou did not want to reveal too much and led her into the apartnt.
As she was changing into slippers, Nuan Ge stepped in wearing shoes, leaving a startled expression on Lu Xinyou’s face.
Her hand, holding Nuan Ge’s slippers, froze in place.
Nuan Ge was admiring Lu Xinyou’s ho and realized she hadn’t co in yet. She looked back to see her standing in the entrance, changing shoes.
