Jiang Hao hesitated, walked up to her, and called out in a low voice, "Madam."

Qiao Xu looked at him, her always decisive and cold face now weak and fragile. She forced out a pale smile and said nothing.

"Why you calling her madam? Xuxu and that scum Lu Moqing have nothing to do with each other!"

Xia Yumo, who had been standing aside, couldn’t stand it any longer and raised her voice.

Jiang Hao awkwardly pushed up his glasses; he couldn’t provoke the lawyer hired by the madam.

Qiao Xu didn’t get angry at Jiang Hao. She left. She glanced inadvertently and her gaze collided into the deep, black eyes behind Jiang Hao.

At this mont, those eyes were unfathomably dark, calmly looking at her without a ripple of emotion, both cold and indifferent.

Thinking of how her son had been taken away by this man, hatred welled up in her heart.

She hated Lu Moqing to the core for how he had treated her during those three years, and now for trying to take away the son she had given birth to with great hardship!

By what right! By what right did he, Lu Moqing, have to do this!

She had loved Lu Moqing deeply, had expectations for him, had been disappointed by him, and had resented him. But she had never hated him as much as she did at this mont.

She really hated Lu Moqing so much!

The corners of her mouth curved up icily, and her eyes flashed with hatred. "President Lu, are you happy now? Congratulations on getting what you wanted."

She reached out her hand to Lu Moqing and spoke with a hoarse voice.

Lu Moqing lowered his eyes, looking at the slender, pale hand in front of him. After a mont of silence, he reached out and shook her hand. "You’re too kind."

Qiao Xu’s hand was cold, and it seed the chill could seep through her thin skin and into his blood when it touched his palm.

Lu Moqing felt a slight pang of pain in his heart again, his grip on her hand unconsciously tightening.

Qiao Xu expressionlessly pulled her hand out of his and turned to leave. As she reached the towering steps of the courthouse, her feet suddenly beca unstable, and she pitched forward, losing her balance.

Seeing this, Lu Moqing’s face paled, his heart leaping into his throat. Without hesitation, he rushed forward, grabbed Qiao Xu’s arm, and pulled her into his arms.

The panic in his heart caused his heart to drum thunderously, as if it were about to leap out of his chest.

If he had been a step slower, Qiao Xu would have tumbled down these dozens of steps.

Unaware of her near fall, Qiao Xu was blankly held in Lu Moqing’s arms, listening to his wild heartbeat. She was cold to the touch.

"Qiao Xu, can’t you watch where you’re going?!"

Lu Moqing ground his teeth, the panic in his eyes turning into endless rage as he yelled at Qiao Xu.

Qiao Xu looked up at him, her cold gaze boring into his. She paid no heed to his words and said nothing. Instead, she quietly extricated herself from his arms, each step down the stairs shaky, as if she could fall at any mont.

Worried, Lu Moqing followed closely behind her, protecting her unconsciously as they walked. Only when she reached level ground did he stop.

Jiang Hao, who had been trailing behind, shook his head and sighed inwardly.

Why did President Lu have to go through all this?

He clearly couldn’t let go of Madam, so why would they hurt each other like this?

The world of his boss was so complicated, and he couldn’t understand it at all.
