"Have you caused enough trouble?"
The old lady’s rebuke shocked the frantic Chen Fang.
She hesitated for a mont, seeing the gazes around her that seed to be enjoying the drama, her facial muscles twitched violently.
"Mom, please stop. My cousin’s wife really didn’t mistreat ."
Shen Qianyao’s heartbroken crying montarily cald Chen Fang down.
"Then why were you crying like that when you ca back from the main house?"
Chen Fang still didn’t believe that Qiaoxu had not mistreated her daughter; otherwise, who would cry for no reason?
Shen Qianyao was annoyed at Chen Fang’s foolishness, at this point, it was best to just back down.
The situation was clearly unfavorable; pressing the issue was just giving Qiaoxu another chance to strike her. Why did she continue to question the reason for her tears?

Qiaoxu used Chen Fang’s previous words against her.
Although it sounded like she was echoing Chen Fang, these words implicitly agreed that the Chen family was poor relatives of the Lu family.
Chen Fang was too foolish to understand Qiaoxu’s implications, but Shen Hong and Shen Qianyao got the ssage.
The surrounding onlookers also understood, unable to suppress their expressions of amusent.
Feeling the gazes around her, Shen Qianyao found her face burning in embarrassnt.
If she tried to stop Qiaoxu from speaking, people would think she was guilty, attempting to cover up her wrongdoing only to be caught out by Qiaoxu.
Shen Qianyao was caught in a difficult spot by Chen Fang’s antics; she had no idea what to do.
However, now that things had escalated to this level, she would rather reveal the truth herself than have Qiaoxu to expose her.
At least, speaking on her own behalf might give her so room to manipulate the narrative in her favor.
Just when Shen Qianyao was about to speak, Lu Xintong said:
"What were you doing going to our main house when you were supposed to be a guest at the Lu residence?"
Lu Xintong was the "black moonlight" in Shen Qianyao’s life—the mont she spoke, Shen Qianyao beca fearful.
That dining plate full of food from back then had beco her nightmare.

She had seen Shen Qianyao crying when she ca out of the main house. Judging the timing, her brother had been in the main house just before that.
