She was a little surprised when she opened her eyes and saw Sean Donovan. "Y-You... How are you back so soon?"

Sean Donovan’s gaze flickered away for a mont before he ordered the bodyguards who had co with him to pick her up. She was too preoccupied with her stomach pain to wonder how he had returned in less than ten minutes when it should have taken him at least half an hour.

Sean Donovan took her to Julian Donovan’s hospital. She didn’t know what he was thinking. Perhaps he felt Julian’s hospital had superior dical expertise and could provide her with the best diagnosis. Or perhaps he thought that placing her right under Julian’s nose, where he could see her but not have her, was the perfect form of revenge.

Whatever Sean Donovan’s intentions were, she no longer had the energy to guess. The pain was driving her mad.

The doctor diagnosed her with acute gastroenteritis. Sean Donovan stayed by her side, personally taking care of her. His bodyguards tried to protest several tis, but he silenced each one with a sharp glare. One of the n could only shoot her a resentful look instead. Judging by his expression, it seed her falling ill had delayed so important business of theirs. A wave of satisfaction washed over her; she was willing to suffer a little if it ant she could stop them from manufacturing drugs.

She needed a full day of IV drips and had to remain in the hospital for a day of observation, so she couldn’t return for the ti being. Sean Donovan stayed in her room, watching over her until evening. After so thought, she tried to persuade him to leave. "You should go ho and get so rest tonight. I’m mostly recovered. I’ll call a nurse if I need anything."

"I can’t rest easy. I’m staying here with you!"

Sean Donovan insisted stubbornly.

He had grown even more insecure since she’d entered his life. He couldn’t stand for her to be out of his control for even a second.

Sean Donovan’s intensity made Naomi Shaw very uncomfortable. She looked troubled. "But it’s not very convenient for you to stay here with at night, is it?"

She was taking a gamble, betting that he would show so consideration for her feelings. Sure enough, Sean Donovan frowned in thought for a mont, then rose to his feet. "If my presence makes you uncomfortable, then I’ll head back. I’ll leave two n to stand guard outside. You can call for them if you need anything."

Naomi Shaw could only reluctantly agree. Her original plan was to send Sean Donovan away so she could contact the detective about the day’s strange events. She hadn’t expected him to be so cautious as to leave two n behind. Now, with those two guarding the door, she wouldn’t be able to make a call. She could only contact him via text.

Sean Donovan’s gaze lingered on her for a mont before he rose and left, giving another set of instructions to the two bodyguards outside the door. As soon as he was gone, she began to ponder how to describe the day’s events to the detective. She had clearly seen Sean Donovan’s car drive away from the residence. Logically, it should have taken him at least twenty to thirty minutes to return, yet he had co back in under ten. ’Did he never actually leave the property? Could The Donovan Residence have a secret passage or so kind of hidden chanism?’

Just as she was hesitating, a knock ca from the door. "Miss Shaw, is now a good ti? I’m here to do my routine check."

She jumped at the sound of his voice. ’Isn’t that... the voice of the detective I’m in contact with? How did he get past the two bodyguards outside?’

She didn’t have ti to dwell on it, however. Quickly composing herself, she answered, "Yes, it’s fine. Please co in!"

As soon as she finished speaking, a doctor wearing a white coat and a surgical mask walked in. It then dawned on her why the two bodyguards hadn’t stopped him. The large mask concealed most of his face, making it nearly impossible for a casual observer to recognize that he wasn’t the doctor who had diagnosed her.

The detective entered and imdiately asked, "How are you feeling? It’s not serious, is it? I’m so sorry our mission has put you through this."

He’d just knocked out her attending physician while the man was in the restroom, then put on his white coat and na badge and rushed over.

"It’s all right. Your timing is perfect. I have sothing very strange to tell you!"

Naomi Shaw’s only thought was to tell him what she knew, hoping it would help them resolve the matter quickly.

After listening to her, the detective considered this for a mont. "I got your text saying Sean Donovan was about to leave. I’ve been staked out near The Donovan Residence the whole ti, and I never saw his car drive out. That ans he must still be on the property. I’d say it’s almost certain that The Donovan Residence is his drug manufacturing hub in Wincastle. But then how is he getting the drugs out?"
