Chapter 74: CONRI’S MINES DOCUNTS
EVEREST POV
I curled around the city council building as Levi had instructed, deep in shock, and packed by the back exit of the building.
Levi Isla had once again proved that he was loyal to . I found myself deep in regret as I kept pushing him away over the years. The fact that he was my true mate made
happy. There was no way Sable, my wolf, would have mated with him if he weren’t. I had my doubts until when he collapsed.
In my arms, Sable had growled the words "Mate"
"He is wonderful" I heard Sable push the words through my mind link.
"He is trouble," I remarked.
"We need him. We must protect him at all costs. "Sable insisted.
I huffed and noticed Levi rushing towards the car in a hurry. I switched on the car as Levi jumped in and yelled, "Let’s go! "There were two n following him as we sped off from the city hall offices.
"Who are those n chasing after you?" I demanded.
"Alpha Lobo n. They were waiting for
as I left the building by the front entrance. So I decided to make a rush for it. "
"Where are the docunts?" I asked as I sped through the streets and disappeared on the main road.
Levi opened his jacket, took out an envelope, and winked at . I burst out laughing and shook my head in disbelief. "You naughty brat "
His face was as smug as he responded, "Your naughty brat"
We got to the construction site and found the place was already busy as the workers had already arrived. The gates opened as we skidded in, in a hurry, and the door of the construction site office opened as Conri stepped out.
Jumping out of the car, Levi rushed towards Conri" Good morning"
"What are you up to?" Conri raised his eyebrow as he stared at the envelope in his hands.
"Let us talk inside the office where there are less prying eyes. "I remarked as Levi rushed by Conri and Conri turned to
in question.
"He is a handful. Just ignore him, "I explained with a huff.
Conri smiled, and we walked into the construction site. Once seated, I narrated what happened when I dropped Levi at the City council offices.
"You were being chased?" Conri raised an eyebrow in question at Levi.
"Yes, Alpha Lobo’s n have been in the City Council offices for a long ti. Elder Zaya had already inford
that I needed to get the docunts out before. I hid them in my office and I have been waiting until Everest asked
for them" Levi handed
the docunts.
An hour later, after comparing the original land titles with the docunts, we realized that Alpha Lobo had encroached on the Conri’s land by five acres.
"This piece of land has gold underneath, "Conri inford us.
"Elder Zaya was right. Alpha Lobo’s imnse wealth over the years has been coming from Conri’s mines. "
"What about the Canibar sulfur?’ "Levi asked.
"That too. He has been using it to raise mangy wolves. "I responded.
"We need to inform Elder Zaya," Levi stated.
We listened in and heard a commotion outside the gate of the construction site.
"It seems Hunter is here with the wolves. If my deductions are right, Lobo Aria sent him to arrest you" He pointed at Levi.
"Over my dead body. I am not scared of Hunter or his enforcers." I growled and headed towards the door.
"Calm down or you will put your mate in danger," Conri snapped at .
"Why would I let them take him?" I huffed.
"We need to have a solid plan. They ca for Levi. If we let them take him, he shall end up dead. If you act irrationally, then you will endanger him. Lobo Aria is not your average Alpha. He is a person who can pin a cri on you in seconds and have your mate exiled or jailed. "
"I have a plan. You need to trust , "Levi interjected and walked towards . He stood there, baring his heart and soul at . "You need to let
handle this. I have been prepared for this since Elder Zaya recruited .
" Fine, but if he dares to cross the line, I will not hold back," I stated and opened the door as we walked out of the construction site office.
Hunter was standing by the gate, his two wolves by his side, accompanied by four pack enforcers.
"To what do I owe this pleasure, Hunter? "I spoke up.
"We are here to arrest Levi Isla," Hunter stated and raised his chin.
"Arrest? "Levi feigned innocence. "Under what charges would you want to arrest ?"
"Yes. The city council has reported that you violated the code of conduct and took out so docunts from the office this morning. "Hunter stated.
"This morning? I was in the office and then handed in my leave form to the HR. I rushed out because I wanted to spend ti with my mate and I had kept him waiting for a while in the car, "Levi chuckled.
Hunter’s eyes widened as his eyes darted towards Everest.
"You heard him, "I drawled.
"And if it was an arrest, why the hell is the city council pack police? Why are you the one here? Can they arrest soone for taking leave? I" Levi raised his eyebrows and threw his hands in the air dramatically.
"Where is the docunt you took?" Hunter pointed a finger at him.
"Where is the evidence to show he took the docunts? "I stepped forward and interjected.
"Do not interfere Everest. This matter does not concern you," Hunter growled.
"You better go and growl elsewhere, Hunter. This is my construction site. Unless you have evidence, I suggest you go find so and co back. " Conri stepped forward.
We watched as Hunter’s eyes widened before he retreated and left the construction site.
"Fucking bastards, "I cursed as we watched the dust from the cars as they disappeared from the Freki lands.
"Do they have evidence that you took the docunts?" Conri turned to Levi.
"No. They don’t. They have no idea if I took the docunts or not. The fact that HR was surprised that I wanted to take one month’s leave must be it. If not, then they must have installed a second cara in my office and know that I took out an envelope from the bottom drawer. "
"Shit "Everest cursed.
"We need to be prepared. Lobo Aria will strike soon and I have a bad feeling we shall all be affected." Conri stated
