Chapter 277: ASPEN’S REQUEST
I sneaked out of the guest room once Lucian fell asleep walked down the stairs and found Godmother, Hunter, Mrs. Hemming, Tala, and Addison.
" Is he sleeping ?" Mrs. Hemming was the first to speak up.
" Yes," I nodded and joined Godmother on the couch.
" Thank you so much. I do appreciate everything" Mrs. Hemming said.
" You are family Mrs. Hemming. And your health is important to us" I urged.
" Tell her. Ma, how could you just decide this on your own? You do know that Aspen will be heartbroken if he finds out. And It’s good that Lucian and Conri were able to act fast" Hunter scolded Mrs. Hemming.
"Hush" Godmother told Hunter ’’ Old people don’t like causing a fuss. "
" I know that" Hunter calmly responded
" Let your Mother be " Godmother pressed on and her eyes darted from Addison to Hunter.
" Okay " Addison spoke up while Hunter nodded.
" Why do you look tense ?" I spoke to Tala as her brows remained furrowed and she looked disturbed.
" We had trouble for the past one week Alpha Conri " Hunter interjected before Tala could speak.
" By the way you called him Alpha it ans that there was sothing that threatened the pack" Mrs. Hemming observed.
" Yes. The appearance of Simon Mark. " Tala announced.
" What?" Godmother was the first to react.
" Did you say, Simon Mark? As in Lobo’s friend and partner?" I spoke up.
" Yes," Hunter nodded.
" Why the fuck is he back in Chugach?" I demanded and I felt the rumble of a growl emit from my chest.
" He ca to cause trouble. But Anisha already helped us draw him out and in the end he left Alaska. It seems that Lobo is the one who organized his jet. That ans that he is headed to Tochigi" Hunter explained.
" Where the hell has he been?" Godmother demanded.
"No idea but I also got a call from Aunty Sasha Freki" Tala announced.
" What the hell is going on?" Godmother’s eyes were filled with bewildernt.
" That is the question. I think the two of them are related. Aunty Sasha must have been working for Lobo for a long ti, " Tala announced.
" That would explain it. But Simon Mark is a piece of garbage. You all need to be on guard with him" Godmother warned.
" That is true. I rember Ralph Isla stating the sa" I responded.
" We just need to be on high alert. Nothing good cos out of Simon Mark" Hunter snapped.
I stood up and inford Godmother" I better check on Lucian. "
They all nodded as I left the living room. I took two stairs at a ti and walked into the guest room. Shutting the door behind , I slipped into bed and pulled Lucian back in my arms. He did not stir and the little snores from his mouth were maintained.
My mind was in turmoil with the news that Tala and Hunter delivered. I knew that Simon Mark was a sleazy piece of work and if he did show up in Chugach, It ant he was fishing for information. I made a ntal note to have Lucian call Aunty Sasha and find out about her whereabouts.
It was close to midnight when Lucian stirred.
" Mmh " He murmured.
" Are you feeling better? " I asked as he rubbed himself on .
" Yes" He raised his head and our eyes clashed.
" Good" I nodded and then felt his body tremble. " You better behave"
" I was just teasing you " Lucian’s eyes twinkled.
" Your body never lies" I hushed him and he burst out laughing.
" Co on. We need to go ho, we have overstayed at Godmother’s place and I checked on Mrs. Hemming, she is doing better than ever."
" That’s good" Lucian disentangled himself from my arms and then we got out of bed. After washing our faces, we went downstairs and found Godmother and Aspen talking. They stopped when they spotted us and Godmother raised her hand to Lucian. He walked over and sat with her and she stared at him with adoration.
" Lucian, my child. What did I ever do to deserve you " Godmother asked.
" Godmother, without you I would not have snaked my Husband so quickly" Lucian winked at her and Aspen laughed out.
" You are both shaless " I stated and blushed as I walked to the window.
"We are both lucky to have you, Lucian. " Godmother nodded.
" Mmmh " I humd.
" Thank you so much for what you did for my mother. " Aspen spoke up.
" It’s my pleasure. Mrs. Hemming is family, " Lucian smiled.
Aspen looked like he wanted to say more but held back while his eyes darted across the room.
" What is it ?" I spoke out loud to him.
" I have a request, " Aspen whispered.
" Proceed" Godmother encouraged him.
" I would like to join Commander Abram’s team " He announced.
Aspen had rendered us speechless.
" What ?" I heard Addison’s voice from the door. She stood there with Hunter and Tala with the shock on their faces.
Aspen never turned around as he faced Lucian and his stance made
smile as to how determined he was.
" Explain yourself " Hunter walked over to him.
" You heard
" Aspen stood his ground.
" Why?" I asked and walked over to him. Hunter and I flagged him on each side.
" Because It’s what I want, ’’ he responded.
" I need a reason, " Hunter demanded.
" One of them is your mate?" Lucian asked with shock.
Aspen remained tightlipped and Godmother laughed. " Sit down child. We are ready to listen to you "
Aspen’s shoulders sagged and he sat down. We all followed suit and calmly stared at him in waiting.
" I know where Captain Abram is. Hence I am leaving Chugach tomorrow for the Middle East. I know that I might have hastily joined Due Corporation but it’s not what I want to do" He spoke up.
" Listen to yourself brat, " Hunter cursed at him. " Do you know what you are saying? Those are Hybrid wolves who are trained military killers and protectors. What would you do? Have you been trained? You never even attended the military "
He turned to the hunter and growled. " You can curse all you want Hunter but I am going. I already booked a flight for tomorrow and handed my resignation letter to Zeeb and Anisha. They all took it so well. Why are you the one who is being difficult.?"
" What is the real reason?" Addison demanded.
" The only reason one would leave is if they found their mate" I pointed out.
" What the fuck ?" Addison muttered.
" Mate?" Hunter’s eyes widened.
" I have to go" Aspen neither denied nor accepted Hunter’s words.
" You found your mate? Why did you not tell us? But what will your mother say? She has just been healed and would wish to spend ti with you " Godmother spoke up.
" I know but I have outgrown living with ma. I am an adult now and wish to follow my own will and desires. I was left behind and It’s driving
crazy." Aspen firmly asserted.
" I see no big deal about this. " Lucian spoke up. " Captain Abram is soone I trust with my life. Don’t forget how much his battalion did for us. I am curious to know which one of them is your mate"
" I have nothing further to say, " Aspen whispered.
I stood up and announced. " Lucian and I are going back ho. We shall leave you all to discuss this matter. "
" And I am going to bed " Godmother rose and pulled Mrs
We bid them farewell and drove us ho as the bodyguards left when they dropped us at Godmother’s house. It was raining softly by the ti we got ho. I picked a Lucian bridal style and walked into the house as he helped
push the glass door shut.
"I could get used to this. ’’ Lucian laughed as I walked up the stairs, entered our bedroom, and placed him on the bed.
" I expect nothing less," I responded as I pulled the pillows behind his back and rearranged them to offer him a comfortable position.
" You sound worried" He rubbed my hair as I sat on the bed and faced him.
" I am worried," I nodded.
" We did what was expected of us," Lucian emphasized.
" That is not why I am worried," I said.
Lucian remained silent as he watched
and then muttered " Can we not talk about it now"
" Lil pup, I can sense the changes in your body. Even your lewd shaless self knows that. But when you are ready, I will be here to hold your hand and talk about it, " I assured him.
He bit his lip before responding " I called the pack doctor. He will be here tomorrow.
" Really " My eyes lit up in happiness.
"Yes. I want to rest my fears and get confirmation" Lucian pulled
in for a hug.
" Don’t worry lip pup. You always have
to lean on and hold your hand. Don’t worry, we shall take it slow once the pack doctor cos in and gives us his diagnosis. Though I can tell that even though your body is changing, your oga womb has no pups as yet" I whispered.
" Are you sure? I have been walking on eggshells" Lucian chuckled.
" That is why I must work hard to satisfy you and have you carry my pups" I growled at Lucian while I tickled him and he yelled happily as we rolled on the bed on the bed in bliss.
