Chapter 10: STAMPING AUTHORITY
"I am David Atlas, the owner of the Totem Bar. How may I serve your CEO, Lucian?" His statent was in between gasps and fear." Lyal stated that CEO Lucian would not be served as long as he is here. We were just on our way out.
"Zeeb drawled"I am sorry, sir. "He stated. "Bring the best bottle of whiskey for CEO Lucian. "He turned to the waiter standing next to us. The waiter’s eyes widened, and he rushed to the bar counter to get the drinks. The growls that ca from Lyal and the bodyguards made Zeeb so irritated that he turned to them in anger, "You don’t need to be this stupid. We are here to drink. If CEO Lucian tears down the Totem bar, how are you going to compensate Atlas? "
"You are just a minion being used by CEO Lucian. You have no right to speak in my presence. Based on the pack rules, my ranking is higher than yours." Lyal seethed.
"Go away you lowlife brat," I spoke up. "You better pick a fight with soone else. I don’t have ti for you,"
"I will report you to my brother, Alpha Lobo," He stated.
"Your brother? The Alpha who can’t control ? Go running back to him, you stupid pup, and get out of my face," I laughed.
The bodyguard looked like he wanted to attack
but I smirked at him and beckoned him with my hand. "Co on. Do you worst?"
"Lyal, you are here to drink. Please don’t cause
any trouble. "Atlas spoke up.
Lyal looked at him with maddening eyes, but Atlas stood his ground. "We shall deal with you, CEO Lucian," Lyal threatened.
"I shall be waiting. "I remarked.
We watched him walk out of the club, followed by his bodyguard and two other n. "I am sorry about this CEO, Lucian. It will never happen again" The bottle of whiskey arrived as soon as he spoke.
Zeeb pulled
over to sit down as the waiter finally served us. The manager left, and the ambiance returned to normal.
"Calm down, "Zeeb advised.
"Are you calm?" I turned to ask him.
"You know that David Atlas has no choice with these matters. The Lobos have been bullies for a long ti hence they will continue targeting you after your declaration at the Annual dinner. "
I picked up the glass placed in front of
and chunked down the whiskey. Amidst being pushed away by Conri, I had to deal with the sleazy Lobos. I drank in silence as the waiter kept refilling my glass until I realized the bottle was now empty.
"Bring another bottle, " Zeeb instructed them and pulled out his card.
"No" I held his hand. "Today the bill is on " He pushed my hand away as the waiter took it.
"I scented Boris Carter, and he is hiding sowhere in the club. "I leaned over to whisper to Zeeb.
"How long are you entertain him as the Deputy CEO of the company? It is obvious he was here with Lyal Lobo. He is a loose end that needs to be cut off before he betrays the Du corporation or leaks out secret files," Zeeb chuckled.
"Send the waiter to get him to co to us, "I demanded. I could feel that I was tipsy as I drank to drown the misery I was feeling.
"No. Let us confront him in the office tomorrow. He was the one who let Alpha Lobo into the company last week. And don’t forget the shareholders’ eting is tomorrow afternoon. "Zeeb stated.
"How co you are sober?" I laughed.
"You left
no choice," He complained. The bottle arrived and, much to our surprise, Carter was walking his way over to the VIP table.
. "The fly is walking into the spider’s web, "Zeeb leaned back on the couch and snickered.
"The moon gods must know I hate waiting and they send him over, "I laughed.
"They listened to you?" Zeeb teased .
"Yes," I arrogantly remarked.
"Ceo Lucian. I was just leaving the club when I spotted you. When did you arrive?" Carter lied.
"Earlier when you spotted
and sent Lyal over to our table," I smirked.
Zeeb’s suppressed laughter ignited mine, and we burst out laughing. Carter looked angry and embarrassed. He turned to leave, and I spoke up in between the fits of laughter. " Wait"
"I am in a hurry, CEO Lucian. The driver is waiting for
outside," He stamred.
"What does the Lobo have on you that you need to bend so low?"
"What do you an?" He was deflecting.
"He ans why are you allowing them to blackmail you into doing horrible things? You let Alpha Lobo into the company, and today you sent Lyal over to our table," Zeeb explained.
The guilty look on Carter’s face and the way he moved from one foot to another encouraged
to speak up again. " If this continues, I will have no choice but to let you go. I will not allow a traitor to work in the Due Corporation. "
"You can’t fire ?" He seethed.
"He can and he will," Zeeb supplied. " I will declare the Deputy CEO position redundant in the shareholders’ eting tomorrow. You have until then to co clean or leave" His eyes widened in shock. "Choose wisely" I stipulated.
His hand fisted at his sides, but he nodded and left.
"About ti," Zeeb snapped.
"I have had enough alcohol for the night, "I slurred.
I watched as Zeeb summoned the waiter and listened as he instructed them to keep the bottle for the next ti. We left the Totem Bar way past two am and Zeeb drove
ho. My mind kept going back to Conri’s words. I pushed the thoughts aside and revealed the way our bodies rubbed on each other and my lips touched his. It felt good, the way he pressed my body on mine. I snapped out of it when Zeeb announced that we had arrived at the mansion.
"Why don’t you just move in? "I laughed as I walked into the mansion.
"I love my space. And you are a neat freak, Lucian," He responded.
"Think about the free rent and drinks, "I teased him.
"How does your body hold so much liquor? If I drank like you, I would sleep for days," He observed.
"The Military shaped . I learned how to hold my drink. "I boasted.
My phone rang, and upon checking, I saw Tala calling. "Your sister is calling ," I inford Zeeb, who snatched the phone from my hand.
"What do you want? " He yelled once he answered the call and put it on speaker.
"What did you and CEO Lucian do to Lyal? Alpha Lobo is seething with anger, and he plans to confront Lucian tomorrow. " Tala’s voice ca from the other end.
