"Master..."

The bed creaked as Hajin hovered above his sleeping master, curling beneath the blanket even in the sumr. Her closed eyelids trembled beneath her furrowed brows, but she only let out a little sigh--or rather, grumble. "Ngh..."

At least she was no longer frowning and tossing beneath that blanket.

Still, she would probably return to her restless state if she kept on sleeping, so Hajin had a job to do. "My sleepyhead Master..."

Sarah just curled up even more like a cat, and Hajin stroked the fading red hair, lowering his face even more. With lips pressing on her earlobe, he whispered again.

"My diligent Master who turned into a lazy bum--"

He got a smack on the side of his face, but Hajin just laughed and planted a kiss over his master’s covered shoulder. The black eyes twitched and fluttered open, squinting at the flooding sunlight and an even blinding smile above her.

"So noisy in the morning..." Sarah grumbled and turned her head back into the pillow, but she didn’t tell the man to get away, even though Hajin was practically lying on the bed with her at that point.

It was a bit hot, but not uncomfortable, and the hand stroking her hair was soothing. It slowly lowered to her cheek, rubbing around her eyes and the area between her brows as if giving her a massage. The grey eyes gazed at her deeply, keenly, and Sarah blinked curiously.

"Why? Did I have nightmares again?"

"Mm..."

Nothing much happened on the golf course, and Director Seo mainly watched her converse--or rather, quipping back--to her father. She followed them to the next course before whining about getting bored and hated the sun. Hajin even fetched sunglasses and a hat for her--not just for show, but also to hide her waning expression.

Thanks to that, she could glare at the smiling snake all she wanted, and fared better when he ntioned sothing that almost made her flinch.

"I’m rather disappointed at your forr assistant, Ethan."

Sarah blinked behind her sunglasses, the visor hid her slightly shaking pupil. While Little Bird and Sol had guaranteed that no one would know Ethan was eting her that day, there would always be a feeling that sothing might slip past their ticulous fabrication.

"What about him?" Sarah managed to reply steadily at that ti, thanks to the sunglasses protection. "I haven’t seen him since I returned--wait, that ans I haven’t seen him since five years ago!"

"Hmm...he left the company like a thief, only saying that a foreign company poached him over," Joseph had said, shaking his head while at it. "His colleagues--I guess it’s forr colleagues now--said even his apartnt had been emptied. All they found was a few boxes of rubbish--so docunts about a foreign company were there, I think."

Sarah arched her brow--she had let Sol and the twins take care of Ethan, but she wasn’t yet privy to what they were doing to make his disappearance look normal. Poaching by a company overseas was pretty normal for soone craving a high position, it seed. It was probably one of the pseudo companies Yonghwa owned for his laundering.

"Well...it seems like we really don’t know soone until they show their true face," Sarah responded sharply, before turning away to end the conversation.

After whining again, Sarah declared she would go to a cafe and turned around, grumbling about why people play golf in the sumr. She stomped her way out of the course, to the buggy and the car the valet brought round. But that was where her bravado lasted.

Back in the car, she curled in the back seat while Hajin drove away, blasting music to give her privacy. He drove round and round until Sarah finally got up and told him to go to a fast food drive-thru. This ti, Hajin didn’t tell her off about it being unhealthy and stuff. They ordered whatever Sarah wanted, and ordered several spicy stuff through the delivery app.

She seed well after scarfing down fire and junk inside her belly, but ca the night and nightmares plagued her sleep. Hajin couldn’t bear to close his eyes as the girl kept tossing and turning, moaning while curling beneath the blanket.

Sarah shifted so she could look at the bodyguard better; the callous finger stroking her cheek brought a tickling sensation. "Are you waking up because of that?"

"It’s ti for you to wake up already," Hajin replied without confirming it, just smiling charmingly as usual. "And the manager told an invitation had co."

The only one Hajin called the manager was Lee Sol, so an ’invitation’ could only an one thing.

Sarah imdiately got up, a playful smirk erased the trace of the nightmare on her face. "Seems like it’s ti for us to get away."

* * *

"So, you’re going to co without telling anyone?" Sol wiggled his brow while handing out the crips, luxurious-looking royal blue invitation. "With a bang--like so drama protagonist?"

Sarah shrugged, flipping the invitation with arched brows.

"Sounds fun," Sol smirked.

"Why does he make it like a wedding invitation?" Sarah chuckled in amusent. With a golden fra and embossed letters, they could just put down Kang Jun’s and Yonghwa’s nas in the middle.

"Perhaps it’s a bait for soone," Sol grinned. He wouldn’t dare say that kind of thing when his boss was around, but still the man was traveling sowhere to avoid the sun...

Might as well take the chance.

"If it’s them, though...they’ll probably force the governnt to legitimate the law first just so they can do it in the open with a bang," Sarah said, patting the invitation once before handing it over to Hajin. "Are you coming too?"

Sol might be ’only’ a manager, but he was the manager of a luxury establishnt pulling in both celebrities and businessn. One of the ways to gain private rooms in Helios was by befriending him, so he was often spotted at this kind of party.

If he wasn’t cosplaying as a security staff, that was.

But this ti, Sol shook his head. "Who will take care of this place, then? I’d rather go to a celebrity party."

"Looking for new custors?" Sarah arched her brow, and Sol replied with a wink. "Will the twins co?"

"Nah," the manager chuckled. "They said they wouldn’t be able to pretend not knowing you, so they’d rather not."

Sarah smiled fondly, feeling sorry that she still hadn’t made a plan to hang out with them. Looking up to where the Little Bird built her nest, she promised herself to think of sothing after this party.

"You’re going to stay in your room until the party, right?" Sol turned his head toward the bodyguard. "Gim your grocery list and stop tornting the kitchen staff."

Hajin smirked and fetched a piece of paper from his inner pocket, as if he had been keeping it there for a long ti. "Thought you’d never ask."

"You did it on purpose, didn’t you?" the manager grumbled while snatching the paper, already neatly filled with a list of ingredients. "Are you going there now?"

"No, we have so shopping and an appointnt to do--right," Sarah snapped her fingers, suddenly reminded of sothing. "I want to check my land deeds."

Sol raised his brow. "Oh, finally?"

"Not for now, but I want to check the exact location."

"Co," the manager nodded and pointed to the staff door with his thumb. "I knew you were going to use it soon, so I had moved your vault."

As usual, Lee Sol did his job well. But then again, he must be, if the Song Yonghwa employed him. The man brought them through the staff back door, to a secret corridor that ended up in a place he called the ’upstairs’ vault.

The original vault was placed in a much more secure place, but it was also rather complicated to access--after all, it was the kind of vault that shouldn’t be touched by the sun. For custors who often use the vault or like Sarah, who could be in need of the content anyti, the manager would move the vault inside the Helios.

Sarah spent a few minutes checking the deeds and rembering the important details aside from the exact location before exiting the vault, to the lounge area where her bodyguard and the manager were waiting.

"We still have so ti until the appointnt, so let’s check this location," Sarah said. "I want to see what’s going on here."

"Do you want to look into it?" Sol offered. He had heard about her ’blind date’ and what she wanted to gain from it, and looking for this kind of thing was his team’s expertise.

Especially if the underworld was involved. It often was, with lands and construction business.

"If you can," Sarah nodded and patted the manager’s shoulder before walking away. "Thanks, Sol!"

"You should let your puppy fight again if you’re thankful," the manager clicked his tongue.

"My puppy is not a display property."

Sol whistled in response and Hajin smirked and put on a smug expression. The expression lasted all the way until they reached the destination, where they slowly circled the hill to look around.

And lo and behold! They saw soone at the edge of their vision, slightly up the foot of the hill.

Sarah arched her brow. "Oh? Aren’t we lucky?"
