Sarah and Hajin froze for a few seconds, before looking at each other in surprise. Sua looked at them in intrigue, since she herself didn’t recognize the na--it wasn’t the top-tier construction company after all.

"Huh? Huh? Do you recognize it, Eonni?"

The one who responded, however, was Sol. "Isn’t this...the one taking care of your land?"

"Yeah..."

Sua got even more confused. "What? What do you an?"

They paused the topic so Sarah could explain the blind date getting shoved to her; how she only ant to keep it going because the man had a project where the land left by her maternal grandparents was. Sarah had thought it would only beco a side quest where she decided to sell her lands for more money to buy HS’s shares or not, but...

Who knew the construction company partnered with said blind date would be the one in charge of the bridge she crashed into?

"A-at that ti, th-there was d-dispute with p-previous cont-t-tractor, so the gov-governnt open a b-bid, and..." the Little Bird took a deep breath before continuing. "T-the b-biggest bid-bidders were HS and Dae-Daesung."

"The accident was used by Daesung to pressure HS into retreating from the bid," Sarah added. "That was how the assets I just received from my grandfather got frozen--as a punishnt or whatever."

When she had just returned, Sarah didn’t rember this clearly. To be fair, she also didn’t rember much during her first tiline because she was so distraught by her mother’s death. But just like how it was with Hajin, her mory sharpened up with the right trigger. The secretary who told her about her frozen assets ntioned the reason in a flat, disinterested tone when she was still in a daze after being given a sedative.

Wow...these people.

But since it was given by her paternal grandfather, Sarah didn’t care much about it. She both loved and hated the old man for the cursed affection he gave her. If she moved the assets completely from the group’s clutch, it would alert her family, so she just let it be, thinking that it was no longer hers.

The two percent of the group’s controlling share was not bad, however.

"Wait--does this an Director Seo was in cooperation with this construction company?" Sua asked, pulling Sarah away from her musing about the inheritance. "You an he was trying to sabotage HS by making Eonni crash into the bridge? Why?"

"Yeah, why..." Suoh stroked his chin. "This spell ’grudge’ to ."

"Grudge...against the family?" Sarah narrowed her eyes.

Austin gasped and snapped his fingers. "Do you think he cooperated with another company to take over the group?"

"Oh, that’s a possibility!" Sua’s eyes lit up imdiately as she slamd the table in agreent. But she tilted her head in confusion just a few seconds later. "Why did it have to be Eonni, though? Why couldn’t he do it with the other children?"

"Like that bastard first son," Hajin remarked coldly.

"That’s right!" Sua nodded strongly. "Wouldn’t it be more devastating?"

Mason hadn’t been crowned the official successor at that ti, but it was clear that he was the only eligible one among the sons. Their family was very patrilineal, so it would make more sense to trap the most likely successor.

"Secret will! There must be a secret will sowhere!" Austin slapped an empty pizza box, never backing down from his conspiracy theory.

"Then he should have killed while I was in a coma," Sarah rolled her eyes.

"Ugh..." Austin groaned and tried hard to think of another theory. "Then, maybe because he thought you were the biggest threat? The others seed easy to destroy, if you know what I an."

"Not to ntion, it was probably harder to make the first son or the other children go through that bridge--he was able to recomnd the place to you because you were close, right?" Sol added.

"Waah...that black-hearted snake," Sua shook her head in disgust, before munching at a piece of chicken thigh angrily.

"Hmm..." Sarah leaned back and closed her eyes, sighing heavily. In the end, everything was a conjecture. Sure, they ford so kind of line between the actors, but the motive was still unclear, perhaps hiding inside a layer of information they had yet to uncover. "Ugh--do I really have to ask him directly or sothing?"

Of course, it was only mindless grumbling. Sarah couldn’t risk her entire revenge just because he got emotional and wanted to know the reason. No. She had been through too much to lose everything she had planned for that.

Besides...

"Who cares about the reason?" Hajin said coldly. "He’s still an enemy."

Sarah couldn’t help but chuckle. Yeah--who cares? She could just find out the reason later, since it wouldn’t alter her plan at all. There was not enough reason in this world that could justify killing her mother.

"Hey, then...do you think that man was also involved?" Austin asked curiously while checking if there was still any chicken left for him.

"Who? Henry? I don’t think so," Sarah replied after finally taking a sip of the mocktail Hajin had made for her so ti ago. "He doesn’t seem to be that kind of person--I an, he was too shallow to be involved in that kind of sche."

Sarah added quickly after a flash of a cold look from her prone-to-jelousy puppy, who seed to develop a sensitivity to any suitor-related talk even knowing Sarah wouldn’t pick them by any ans. Was it inherent? Did he still feel insecure?

Who knows, but Yonghwa was right--it was kind of cute.

"Besides, if they were in cahoots, why wait for a decade before cooperating?" Sarah shrugged.

"Oh, you’re right..."

"But...you’re not just going to leave it alone, are you?" Sol looked at Sarah with curled lips, sensing more fun heading his way.

"Hah!" Sarah snickered.

She didn’t quite recognize it before, but the mory started coming back now. The whole dia city construction itself was sothing people were skeptical about, so the biggest construction companies didn’t bother with it. The absence of the giants, however, made the ones beneath them fight for it--including HS, who thought it would be a nice step into business expansion.

The project turned out to be neither good nor bad; it took off, but also was costly, so there was not much profit aside from putting the construction company’s na out there. Perhaps that was why Henry’s company decided to partner with Daesung for this...entertainnt whatever thingy.

Honestly, she had no grudge against Henry--he was annoying, but wasn’t quite a criminal. This partnership with Daesung, however, changed everything.

"Naturally, I need to destroy all of my enemies, don’t I?" Sarah smiled deeply, and Hajin nodded in satisfaction.

Naturally, everyone agreed. Well, they were ford to support her in the first place. It was just more satisfying knowing the one they should topple deserved it and more.

As they finished the al, Sua with her active mind popped another curious question. "Hey, hey--do you think that third wife had anything to do with it too?"

Sarah arched her brow. As much as she wanted to say yes, however, she replied truthfully. "That’s...hard to say."

"What’s the connection?" Sua shifted her gaze to Sol.

"Nothing much," the manager shrugged. "She was in the sa academy group as that man’s aunt."

The twins tilted their heads. "Academy group?"

Didn’t sound like sothing the third wife would get involved with.

"You know how high-society ladies had this community around their children’s education? To put it shortly, this Henry guy’s cousin was in the sa year as our lady boss’s little sister," Sol explained.

"Oh, just that?" Sua clicked her tongue in disappointnt. "There was nothing then."

"That might be so, but..."

Sarah raised her brows as Sol suddenly looked thoughtful. "What?"

"You were hinting about sothing happening between the third wife and the brother, right?" Sol started, which made them even more curious because...what did an affair have anything to do with this whole conspiracy?

"Uh-huh..."

"So I had one of my n tailing him for fun."

Suoh smirked. "For fun, huh?"

"Other people’s scandals are fun," Sol snickered before putting on his serious face again. "Anyway, the brother doesn’t really do anything suspicious, and is living quite an orderly life--you know, compared to his older brother, considering he was a bachelor and stuff."

"So?"

"So I didn’t look much into how he always ca to the sa private club twice a month."

Sarah narrowed her eyes. "Okay...?"

"I told you how that construction company is essentially a gangster group," Sol nodded at Little Bird, who imdiately put the picture of said club in her gadget’s screen. "They owned the private club where the brother went to."

Austin and Sua gasped while the others arched their brows.

"And the executives often spent their ti over there."

Sarah blinked at this new information. Was it only a coincidence? Everyone could attend clubs all they wanted without caring about who owned them. Perhaps there was a worker he liked over there. It was also confusing if he was there to make a connection with Daesung--it would shatter their theory about Joseph wanting to take over the group with Daesung’s help.

Wouldn’t the group fall into the brother’s hands in that case?

"I was going to look into it more before reporting to you," Sol said. "Of course, it could an nothing, but..."

Sarah took a deep breath. "It’s worth looking into further," she said, eyes gleaming sharply under the dimming light of the observation room. She smiled calmly as her gaze shifted to Sol. "So, do you have the club’s mbership?"
