Knowing where they were headed was no hard feat, they were able to get out of the forest in a few hours, and they could see the two in the distance.

"That’s a human town?" Pentharis asked.

"You haven’t seen one before?" Aric asked.

"No, lesser spirits need to be in a place filled with enough spiritual energy to keep them alive, leaving the forest would have been suicide for us," he explained. He stared at the town a little more and then spoke.

"I kind of expected more."

"There are better human towns and cities, but this one is at the bad end of the spectrum in developnt," Elisa said, "probably because the baron is a selfish person that only wants profit. He would rather take it into his own pocket than offer the prompt developnt."

"Shouldn’t you know about the baron, Elisa? After all, you are a noble as well," Aric asked.

"I think I’ve heard of Baron Fredrick before, but I can’t rember," she said.

"That’s understandable," Aric said. He pulled out the system interface while the others looked at the town and purchased so growth clothes.

The clothes appeared in his hand and he gave one to each of them. "We need to make sure no one can tell who we are," he said and wrapped the cloth around his neck and head, making a hoodie to cover his ears and most of his face.

They all did the sa, and when they were sure that no one would be able to recognize any of them, they headed toward the town.

It was a ten-minute walk through a barren land of stones, patches of grass, and dried grounds. The sun stood high in the sky and poured down its rays furiously, casting strong shadows of everything.

"Is this how the sun is normally?" Pentharis asked.

"You’ve been covered by trees for so long you aren’t used to this," Aric replied, keeping his head forward as they approached the entrance of the town.

He spotted so militants standing at the gates with swords, guarding the entrance.

As they approached, the n started watching them walk, they didn’t say or do anything though. Aric was shocked at how loose the security of the town was, he was thinking he was going to have to find a way to lie out of this one, but he didn’t need to at the end.

They walked into the town without any issues. Aric had expected it to be bustling with life, but the town was quiet, all too quiet.

He could see people around going about their day, so having their little talks and discussions, but there was no major noise or anything like that.

He figured it was probably because he was at the edge of the town, maybe he needed to go deeper.

"Aric, I don’t know if you have thought about this or not, but we might probably need a place to stay and we don’t have the money to afford one," Elisa said, bringing an issue up to Aric.

"Yeah, we don’t, but that’s not really an issue, I have a way, don’t worry," he said, but even as he said that, he felt his heart sink because he was about to use the system to solve their problem, another gold lost for nothing.

’This trip here better be worth it in every way,’ he thought to himself. They walked through the stone streets of the town, passing people every now and then.

The deeper they got into the town, the more people they got to see. After a while, they saw an inn. So Aric decided that they would stay there.

It was a three-story building made out of fine stone and wood, giving it a nice look. The wooden signboard outside the inn read its na: The Blue Feathered Inn.

Aric pushed the door of the inn, he walked inside, and was t with what was supposed to be a bar, but there were only two n at the corner drinking from their massive wooden cups.

The big n glanced at Aric and the others as soon as they got in, but they looked away, not caring about them.

Aric walked to the counter, there was a middle-aged lady there. She was cleaning the counter with a rag, she paused imdiately she noticed guests.

"I’d like four rooms for the night," he said.

"That will be three copper coins," she said imdiately, looking at Aric.

"Sigh, I’m sorry ma’am, I don’t really have coins on right now, but will you take this?" he said and brought out a small block of gold.

The woman was shocked to see this, her eyes opened wide in shock. She looked up with a newfound grin on her face.

"This works very well, I’ll take you to your rooms now," she said, speaking in haste. She was happy, but Aric was sad—that gold had cost him three thousand gold, but he had to do it.

"Before you take us to our rooms, can you tell why this inn is empty?" he asked.

She paused when she heard the question, followed by a tired sigh.

"Everyone in this town has to work extrely hard because the tax in the town is very high. We pay taxes to the crown, and taxes to the baron.

Over the last year, a lot have left the town, seeking a better place to stay. For us that have stayed, we are fighting to survive," she explained their predicant to Aric.

"From that question, I can tell you aren’t from this town. Well, I advise you don’t set up anything in this town, no business will work here," she warned them.

"That’s fine, we are here on a visit to soone. By the way, I’m very sure that your baron will fix everything very soon," Aric said.

"That selfish noble, I doubt it," she said, getting the keys for their rooms from under the counter.
