"Sir…it seems that you are interested in acquiring the Hanjin Subic Shipyard. Is that correct?" Juliet asked, perching at the edge of her seat, her eyes locked on Michael's determined expression.

"Yes, that's right," Michael affird with a nod. "We need to establish a solid foundation for our defense manufacturing ambitions, and Hanjin presents a unique opportunity despite its challenges. Who should we contact about this acquisition?"

Juliet flicked through the digital pages on her tablet before responding. "There are a few key individuals involved. The primary contact would be Mr. Lorenzo Tan, the current managing director tasked with overseeing the liquidation of the shipyard's assets. He's closely linked with the decision-making on any potential sale."

"And then there's Ms. Carla Singson, the chief financial officer. She handles all financial negotiations and will be crucial in discussing the terms of the acquisition," Juliet continued, jotting down a note to herself.

"There's also Mr. Eduardo Lim, head of legal affairs, who will be instruntal in navigating the regulatory and environntal concerns related to the shipyard," she added, looking up to gauge Michael's reaction.

Michael processed the information, then said, "Arrange etings with them as soon as possible. Start with Lorenzo Tan. I want to gauge his interest and see how open he is to negotiating with us directly."

"Understood, Mr. Reyes. I'll set up the etings and prepare the necessary briefings for each individual," Juliet said, her fingers already busy on her tablet setting reminders and drafting emails.

April 21st, 2028.

Juliet entered Michael's office.

"Mr. Reyes, Mr. Lorenzo Tan has arrived and is waiting in the conference room," she announced.

"Excellent," Michael replied, standing up from his desk. He straightened his suit, preparing himself to et the man who could potentially help him secure a cornerstone for his new venture. "Is everything prepared for our discussion?"

"Yes, sir," Juliet confird. "I've arranged the briefing docunts and the presentation outlining our proposal. Additionally, I have summarized the potential strategies for addressing the environntal and financial challenges associated with the shipyard."

"Good work, Juliet." Michael nodded appreciatively.

Michael left the office and walked alongside Juliet towards the conference room.

Upon entering, Michael extended his hand to Lorenzo Tan, who stood waiting. "Mr. Tan, thank you for eting with us on such short notice," Michael greeted.

"Of course, Mr. Reyes. I understand the significance of this eting for both our parties," Lorenzo replied, shaking Michael's hand.

They both sat down, and Michael wasted no ti in getting to the point. "Mr. Tan, I'm aware of the challenges Hanjin has faced. However, I believe that with the right investnt and managent, we can turn these challenges into opportunities. What can you tell about the current status of the shipyard?"

Lorenzo nodded, understanding the direct approach. "Currently, the shipyard is in a state of dormancy. We have substantial debts and several unresolved environntal issues that need addressing. However, the facilities remain so of the most advanced in the region."

"What are the imdiate financial requirents to bring Hanjin back into operation?" he asked.

Lorenzo wasn't shocked. aning, that Juliet did a great job of debriefing him on the Reyes Corporation's intentions with the shipyard.

"To reactivate the shipyard and address all imdiate financial obligations, we're looking at an investnt of approximately $900 million. This figure includes debt settlents, essential refurbishnts, and updates to our current shipbuilding technology to et modern standards," Lorenzo detailed clearly.

"And what about the environntal clean-up and compliance asures? How much additional investnt would be required to handle those effectively?"

Lorenzo glanced at so notes before responding, "For environntal issues, including waste managent and dealing with any legacy pollution, we estimate an additional $100 million. It's essential to ensure that we et all regulatory requirents and establish a sustainable operation moving forward."

"So in total?"

Michael prompted for a concise figure.

"We are looking at a total investnt of approximately $1 billion to cover both reactivation and environntal compliance," Lorenzo provided the rounded figure.

Upon hearing that, Michael humd. That's far less than what they initially predicted. They expected a price of 1.6 billion to 1.8 billion dollars. But to them, it was just a billion dollars.

"Okay we will take it," Michael said, his decision firm. "We'll proceed with the acquisition of Hanjin Subic Shipyard."

Lorenzo's expression shifted to one of mild surprise but was quickly masked by a professional smile. "Very well, Mr. Reyes. We're pleased to hear that. I will prepare the necessary paperwork and coordinate with our legal team to begin the transaction process."

"Can I visit the shipyard tomorrow?" Michael asked, eager to see the facility firsthand.

"Of course if it's you Mr. Reyes," Lorenzo replied. "I'll arrange for a comprehensive tour. It will give you a better understanding of the current state of the facilities and what needs to be done."

"That would be great," Michael acknowledged. "Seeing the site will help us plan the next steps more effectively."

"I'll have our operations manager et you there. He can provide detailed insights into the specific areas of the shipyard that require imdiate attention," Lorenzo added.

"Thank you, Mr. Tan. I appreciate your swift actions on this," Michael said as they stood to conclude the eting.

"I'll send you the details and security clearance for your visit by the end of today," Lorenzo assured him.

As they left the conference room, Juliet turned to Michael. "I'll make sure to follow up on the tour arrangents and start working on the due diligence list. There's a lot to prepare if we're moving forward with this acquisition."

"Right," Michael nodded.

Later that evening, Michael received an email from Lorenzo confirming the details of his visit. The security clearance was attached, ensuring unrestricted access to all relevant areas of the shipyard. The email also ntioned that Mr. Alex de Vera, the operations manager, would be his guide for the tour.

He picked up his phone, and contacted Bridget and Antoinette, informing them about his massive acquisition of the Hanjin Subic Shipyard and the scheduled visit the next day. He wanted both of his primary investors to co join him for tomorrow's visit as they were an integral part of helping him build his business empire.

The two agreed and they'll et tomorrow at the shipyard entrance at 9:00 AM.

"Make sure to wear comfortable shoes," Michael joked lightly. "It's going to be a long day."

Hanging up the phone, Michael broke his knuckles, the sound echoing slightly in the quiet of his office. He leaned back in his chair, staring out the window at the skyline as he contemplated the steps ahead.

"Once I secure the shipyard, I need a warship," Michael muttered.
