The heavy oak doors creaked open, revealing a world of splendor that lay just beyond.

Billy stepped aside, gesturing for Kaia to enter first.

Her steps were tentative, but as soon as she crossed the threshold, her breath caught in her throat.

What lay before her was nothing short of breathtaking,a bedroom that could only be described as a masterpiece.

Towering cathedral ceilings soared overhead, adorned with intricate molding, while moonlight stread through expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, casting everything in a cool silver glow.

A luxurious chandelier sparkled above, its crystals refracting soft hues of gold and violet like a constellation frozen mid-sparkle.

The walls were elegantly paneled in soft ivory, contrasting beautifully with the deep mahogany floors beneath her feet.

At the center of this opulence stood a massive bed, larger than anything she’d ever encountered.

Its headboard was upholstered in cream velvet with golden embroidery that shimred subtly when kissed by the light.

Thick covers in regal shades of royal blue and silver draped invitingly over the bed.

On either side rested handcrafted nightstands topped with delicate glass lamps that glowed warmly.

Across from the bed was an inviting seating area featuring a curved chaise lounge, a polished glass coffee table, and two plush armchairs arranged around a marbled fireplace.

Above the mantle hung a painting of a sun-drenched vineyard, exuding quiet sophistication.

Kaia’s gaze drifted to the far side of the room where doors opened onto a private terrace overlooking vast gardens below, now cloaked in enchanting moonlit shadows.

Kaia stood frozen in awe at the center of this magnificent space.

"This... this is the guest room?" she finally asked, disbelief coloring her voice as shock danced across her features.

Billy chuckled softly as he strolled past her with his hands casually tucked into his pockets. "Yep! You can crash here for the night; it’s late anyway, and Alfred already had this one prepped."

Kaia turned slowly in circles, taking in every detail again as if needing to confirm it all once more.

"Billy... this room is like ten tis bigger than my apartnt! Actually," she added playfully with a smirk, "it’s probably larger than all the rooms combined in my entire apartnt block!"

Leaning casually against the bedpost with an amused grin on his face, Billy replied, "Well, this is actually our smallest guest room; mine’s a bit bigger."

Kaia feigned shock and mock-gaped at him. "A bit? And you gave all this up to chase so idea of freedom? Were you actually serious back then?"

He laughed,a warm sound that echoed off those tall ceilings. "Yeah... I guess I was pretty stubborn."

"Stubborn is one word for it," Kaia said dramatically as she flopped onto the chaise lounge like an actress on stage. "Delusional might be another."

"Ouch!" Billy winced, dramatically placing a hand over his heart. "That one hurt."

Kaia stifled a laugh behind her hand. "You totally deserved it."

They shared a mont of silence, the kind that felt comfortable and didn’t need to be filled with words.

As Billy moved toward the door, he paused and turned back, sincerity etched on his face.

"Hey... if any of my family made you uncomfortable back there, I’m really sorry. They can be a bit... overwhelming at tis. Maybe too enthusiastic?"

Kaia waved her hand dismissively, brushing off his concern. "It’s fine! Honestly, it was kind of refreshing? I an, all I’ve ever seen are those cold, distant rich families on TV,strict and unapproachable. But yours..."

She glanced around the room as if seeking confirmation from its very walls.

"Your family is different; they laugh and tease each other. They genuinely care! Even Ashley, chaotic as she is,felt real, not like so porcelain doll from the elite class."

Billy couldn’t help but smile at that.

Kaia’s voice dropped slightly as she continued, "The only one who actually scared was your brother... Arthur."

Billy burst into laughter, leaning against the doorfra. "Arthur has that effect on people!"

"I thought I was going to faint," she said dramatically. "His aura? It felt like gravity suddenly got three tis heavier in the room! I could barely breathe!"

"Don’t worry," Billy reassured her with a grin. "You handled him well."

"Did I?" she whispered to herself, doubt creeping in. "Because I felt like bolting!"

They both laughed again.

"Anyway," Billy said gently straightening up, "you must be tired. Get so rest; we’ll talk more in the morning." He turned to leave once more.

"Billy?"

Her voice stopped him in his tracks; he turned back with raised eyebrows.

Kaia now stood near the edge of the bed, hands clasped together and eyes shy yet warm. "Yes?" he asked.

Billy blinked in confusion. "Yes?"

With a gentle smile spreading across her face, Kaia replied softly, "Yes... I’ll go to Varenya with you."

He froze for a mont as those words hung between them like music dancing on a breeze,a sweet lody of possibility.

Slowly but surely, the corners of his lips curled upward; joy lit up his eyes in a way that made Kaia’s heart flutter with excitent.

For what felt like an eternity, he simply stood there as if morizing every detail of her expression in that magical mont before finally nodding with a soft smile.

"Thank you," he whispered sincerely.

With that simple exchange hanging in the air like an unspoken promise, he quietly stepped out and closed the door behind him.

Kaia perched on the edge of the bed, her eyes roaming over the expansive room that sohow felt even cozier now.

"What did I just agree to?" she whispered with a playful grin, before collapsing onto the impossibly soft mattress, arms outstretched like she was ready to embrace the world.

Her heart fluttered gently in her chest, a delightful rhythm that reminded her of sothing she hadn’t felt in ages.

For the first ti in a long while, survival wasn’t her only focus. No, this mont was different, she truly felt alive and felt really joyful.
