THREE DAYS LATER
-------------------------
BOOOOOM!
The massive door swung open with a resounding crash, and a group of intimidating figures swaggered into the hall, their arrogant and contemptuous smiles sending chills down the spines of everyone present.
At the forefront stood a tall, gaunt man draped in a flowing black robe that seed to swallow him whole.
He was so thin that it felt like a gust of wind could whisk him away at any mont.
His pale face, frad by dark shadows, featured piercing red eyes and a sharp hook nose that exuded an unsettling aura, one that made it hard to et his gaze directly.
"Who are you?" Aegnor stepped forward, his voice steady but laced with caution.
The rest of the Morningstar Adventurer Team flanked him, their expressions tense and vigilant. lian had already drawn her bow, its string taut like the crescent moon ready to unleash an arrow.
The thin man remained silent for a mont, his red eyes boring into Aegnor with an ominous glint of killing intent.
"Who are you people? How dare you barge into our headquarters like this?" Aegnor pressed again, his patience wearing thin.
"I'm the Fifth Captain of the Battle Wolves Adventurer Team," he finally replied coolly.
Aegnor and lian exchanged wary glances; their expressions shifted slightly as they processed this revelation.
"You're from the Battle Wolves Adventurer Team?" Aegnor asked incredulously.
"Yes," ca the curt nod from the thin man. "Since you know who we are, I trust you also understand why we're here?"
"What are you talking about?" Aegnor shot back defensively.
"Don't play dumb," he retorted darkly. "Three days ago, north of Twilight Mountain Range, your Morningstar Adventurer Team clashed with us. Thousands of our mbers vanished without a trace, including one of our Captains and several high-ranking figures. We have no idea whether they're dead or alive, but here you stand unscathed isn't that interesting ."
"Oh, now I see what you're getting at!" lian interjected as she lowered her bow slightly but kept her stance firm. "You think we're responsible for your team's disappearance? You really have so nerve demanding answers from us when we haven't even sought explanations from your side!"
"What do you an?" The thin man's confusion was evident now.
"You don't know what happened? Let enlighten you: during our clash three days ago, both our Captain and Vice Captain went missing too! We haven't seen them since! Where are they?" lian's indignation was palpable as she confronted him.
The thin man and his companions looked stunned; disbelief etched on their faces as they processed her words.
Aegnor's lips curled into a slight smile at lian's fiery defense.
Aegnor's eyes flickered as he glanced at lian, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"What are you talking about? Obviously, you lot might have sothing to do with the disappearance of our Third Captain and our mbers!" shouted a guy standing next to the thin man, his face flushed red with indignation.
"Oh, so you think we're responsible for your Adventurer Team's disappearance?" lian shot back, casting a sidelong glance at the man before turning her attention to the thin figure beside him.
"Let remind you of sothing: the Morningstar Adventurer Team was only recently established. Our strength is among the weakest; we're not even in the sa league as you.
Your Third Captain is sowhere between Tier 7 and Tier 8, do you really believe that a bunch of weaklings like us could take down a team of thousands, including Tier 7 Legendary Knights and a Tier 8 Mythic Knight? Really impressive logic there!"
Her voice dripped with sarcasm and mockery as she surveyed the speechless mbers of the Battle Wolves Adventurer Team.
"Even if we're weaker," lian continued defiantly, "don't think you can just swagger in here and do as you please! Sure, you might be strong, but if it cos down to a fight, we'll drag you down with us! Even if we can't win, we'll make sure to leave our mark." With that declaration, she drew her bow once more.
The mbers of the Morningstar Adventurer Team imdiately fell into fighting stances, glaring at their adversaries.
The thin man, who had been silent until now, waved his hand dismissively and focused on Aegnor and lian. "It's not that we're accusing you of killing our mbers or having anything to do with their disappearance.
However," he paused for effect, "you were reportedly the last ones to be sent with them according to our information."
"Well," Aegnor stepped forward confidently, "we did clash with your Battle Wolves Adventurer Team. But then we were scared off by this terrifying roar from deep within Twilight Mountain Range. Our Captain and Vice Captain ordered us to run! When we returned just minutes later, everything was scorched black, the entire area reduced to ruins, and both our Captain and Vice Captain were nowhere to be found… nor were any mbers of your team."
"If you don't believe us," he added earnestly, "ask around! There were plenty of other adventurers in Twilight Mountain Range who heard that roar."
"Hmmm!" The thin man's eyes narrowed as he scrutinized Aegnor intently while scanning the entire hall.
After a few tense monts filled with silence, he waved his hand dismissively again before leaving swiftly with his n without uttering another word.
"Huuu!" Once they left, Aegnor and lian exchanged glances filled with relief.
lian's hands trembled as she wiped the sweat from her brow, her heart racing.
She turned to Aegnor, bitterness lacing her voice. "That guy is incredibly strong! His eyes, it's like they belong to a poisonous snake. It's terrifying!"
Aegnor shook his head, a bittersweet smile tugging at his lips. "You're not alone in feeling that way."
After a mont of silence, lian asked, "Do you think they'll believe our story?"
Aegnor paused, contemplating their precarious situation. "There are definitely so holes in our story, but it's believable enough. Besides, we were the only ones there when everything went down." Stay connected with empire
"But what if they try to use other thods to extract information? Especially from the mbers who witnessed it all," lian said anxiously.
"Don't worry," Aegnor reassured her with a wave of his hand. "The Captain and the Vice Captain big brother and have already taken care of that."
"Oh," lian nodded slowly, relief washing over her.
"Hey Aegnor," she continued with admiration sparkling in her beautiful green eyes, "I didn't expect the Captain and the Vice Captain big brother that they are always tallking about, to be so strong!"
"Yeah," Aegnor sighed, shaking his head in disbelief. "He literally wiped the floor with that Tier 8 Mythic Knight like it was nothing."
"Truly impressive!" lian mused dreamily.
Aegnor glanced at her and chuckled softly. "Alright, let's change the subject for now. Let's just hope the Captain is doing alright."
"Agreed," lian replied as she scanned the hall filled with their comrades. "Alright everyone! Let's get back to our daily routines! Rember: The Captain and Vice Captain will be fine! We must all quickly try to beco strong during this ti, no slacking off! Understand?"
"Yes!" The mbers of the Morningstar Adventurer Team shouted in unison, their voices echoing throughout the hall.
