Chapter 282: eting With The Stranger

Samantha’s eyes fluttered open to an oppressive darkness, a soft wince escaping her lips as she squinted her eyes in concentration, her green irises gleaming mystically with a tinge of gold speckles.

Her head throbbed with a persistent ache, and a sense of disorientation clouded her thoughts. The room, neat and unfamiliar, offered no recognition as she turned her head to the side, but no matter how hard she tried to focus her gaze on the scrutiny of her chamber, she knew this wasn’t her room... this wasn’t Ivan’s chamber. The familiar scent of him, the chaise lounge that was fixated at the darkest corner of his room, they were all gone– there was no sense of familiarity except for the darkness.

Where is she?

A sense of panic threaded through her veins as she strained to rember how she had ended up in this obscure place.

Attempting to rise, Samantha’s limbs felt heavy, resisting her command to the point she yielded to the surface of the bed, but she didn’t give up. As she successfully pushed herself upright, regardless of her body’s lack of strength, her erald eyes surveyed the room, whilst trying to piece together the puzzle of her predicant.

A flicker of mory teased her– a blurry image of herself going to get water from the kitchen, she was about to head back when...

"Aish...ssss!" She hissed when a dull ache pulsed through her head, and she placed a hand at the side of her head, unable to recall more. Her mories were foggy and elusive, she was basically thrown into a state of ntal uncertainty, and almost imdiately, she recalled her pet plant.

"Viney!"

She called for her pet plant, her voice laden with hope, but there was no response. She repeated its na only to be left with the sa disappointing silence, and it was unlike her Viney to ignore her... on a normal day she would have trouble keeping up with her pet plants chattering so why was it suddenly silent?

Was her pet plant in trouble??

"Where... What is this place?" Samantha’s gaze darted around, a sense of urgency gripping her as the room remained enshrouded in darkness, revealing nothing, and when staying indoors provided her no answers, she imdiately got out of the unfamiliar bed, stumbling towards what she hoped was the exit.

"Please be the exit... please be the exit." She quietly prayed.

Her fingers fumbled along the walls until they found the cool touch of a doorknob. With a racing heart, she turned it, only to be t with an unyielding resistance. She tried the sa movent, the weight of her predicant, boring down on her with each passing mont, whilst her eyes snapped wide.

"It’s locked?" Without trying to keep her actions silent, she pulled at the door knob, trying her best to open it, but when it refused to budge, a cruel realization settled in.

Soone had intentionally confined her in this clandestine chamber.... But who? Where was Ivan? What’s happening??

Fear clenched her heart as she pounded on the door, the sound echoing in the silence.

"Hello?" She called, her voice carrying a desperate plea. The room held its secret, offering no response regardless of how many tis she pounded hard on the door.

"Stupid door won’t budge!" She cussed in frustration, "who brought

here?"

Frantically, she searched for clues– any sign that could unravel the mystery behind where she was, but none of the things she saw made accurate sense to her. Heading towards the drawers, she opened them, and to her confirmation, it revealed clothes that were orderly placed inside, but none of them looked familiar at all; she hadn’t seen anyone in the Chevalier family using this specific design of outfits before.

Where was she? Who brought her here?

A dim light seeped through the edges of the heavy curtains, offering a vague outline of the room. Samantha’s eyes darted around, searching for any escape route, but the shadows seed to taunt her, concealing the answers she desperately sought.

Having no ti for this, she gravitated towards where the light was reflecting from. Using her strength to pull back the heavy curtains, a cold light spilled into the room, revealing an unfamiliar landscape, whilst she gazed out, her eyes round in bewildernt. Her heart sank upon realizing this wasn’t the view from her ho.

The cityscape below, mocked her with its unfamiliarity. She found herself overlooking an otherworldly shore. The moonlight water shimred, revealing a pathway where boats and ships silently glided toward an unknown destination. The air was thick with mystery, and Samantha’s heart quickened as she tried to grasp the reality of her surroundings.

"A shore?"

The soft breeze rustled the curtains, carrying with it the distant sounds of waves. Samantha simply stood there, caught between disbelief and curiosity, whilst wondering how she had arrived in this enigmatic place.

"Am I dreaming?" Was the only sense she could make of this. How did going down the stairs to grab so water lead to this? Where was Ivan? Strangely, she did not have a good feeling about this place, and her thoughts were centered towards escaping.

"I... I have to get out of here."

With her hands on the window, she tried to open it, as it seed this was her only ally towards escaping, and there was a shore just outside her window. If she can get down from here, she’d use one of the vacant boats to escape from this place.

When the glass window refused to budge, she quickly scanned the moon-lit room for anything that would be of great aid to her, and eventually, her eyes settled on an ornate chair in the corner.

She seized the chair in her grip, ready to swing it at the glass window without considering the provocation her actions might bring, but before she could set it into motion, a distant click cut through the chaos, causing her ears to twitch.

The door unlocked.

Fear constricted her chest as she froze, chair in hand, slowly turning to stare at the now-unlocked door. Soone was about to enter, and the unknown awaited her on the other side.

Ti seed to hang in suspense as the door slowly creaked open, and out of stimuli, the best thing her body could do was hide behind the door that continuously opened, the chair still clutched in her tight, trembling grip.

Samantha held her breath when soone walked in, revealing a tall silhouette in the dim light. Bracing herself, she watched as the silhouette made his way towards the bed she once laid on, her absence noticed, and with the chair in her hand, she braced herself and swiftly launched forward, but before the chair could co in contact with the figure, the stranger moved with an inhumane agility, so unexpectedly that it had thrown Samantha off-guard.

He caught her arm mid-air, and Samantha soon found herself facing the unfamiliar stranger. Confusion wrestled with fear as she struggled against his grip, her weapon now a powerless extension of her intent.

"Let go of !" She panicked.

"Is this how you choose to welco ?" The stranger’s voice, although calm, carried no warmth as he inquired from the woman who almost smashed a chair on his back.

"Do I have to start all over and make you realize your place, just like before? When I had you in my grasp?" He took the chair from her grip and closed the distance between them.

"My precious Jewel."
