Chapter 280: Without A Heart
How did he know that the bond between Samantha and Marius wasn’t a mate bond? Aside from trying to figure out the location of his enemies, he had been digging up little pieces of clues recently, whilst trying to fit in the complicated puzzles in his head.
After the note from Samantha’s Father, he explained that the whispers she had heard were Marius’s ways of controlling her mind to his advantage. His heart had stopped upon jumping into the conclusion that Marius was his wife’s soulmate, but when she broke down after reading the letter, he felt her pain, and that denial in his heart returned– the denial that his little lamb belonged to soone else.
From the little information he had gotten from the letter, Marius was the sole owner of the Mystic Orb. He hadn’t done further research on the enigmatic demon until the day he inquired more about Marius from Viktor.
When he read the docunted history of the war between Marius and his people, it was rather clear that Marius had a strong, negative effect on the Orb before he lost it, and considering his possessiveness towards the Orb, he was practically seeking his little lamb in order to make use of her power; he knew how to lure the dark side of the Orb, and that was the only connection his little lamb shared with Marius.
As much as he was left aghast by the discovery, the paleness on the vampire Lord’s face had left him mute.
"Did you say Marius?" Viktor, who seed to be unaware of Marius’s return, moved closer to Ivan who gave no response, but his silence conveyed what Viktor needed to know. It suddenly made sense why Ivan had been so curious to learn about the demon, and what was he thinking at that ti to not have noticed?
"If she was the Orb this whole ti why didn’t you say anything sooner?" Lucius seed to have panicked more as he got up from the chair he was sitting, and Ivan exhaled deeply, his hands resting on his hips, his bottom lip in-between his white teeth. He didn’t co here to listen to their unnecessary scolding about why he did what he did, and if they really knew the Orb like they claid to, shouldn’t they have noticed it for themselves?
"I am losing my mind right now," his voice dropped to a gravelly tone as he had his eyes transfixed between the two of vampires, "I just want to find my wife, I don’t care how you intend to scold
or hurt
after that but I need my wife, and I need your help. I don’t know how she’s doing, I don’t know if she’s safe, her heartbeat, her scent, it’s all gone like I never felt them and I’m slowly losing it. All of this wouldn’t have happened if I followed her down the stairs last night. It’s my fault, but I can’t find her without so assistance. Are you going to help
or not?"
Lucius and Viktor exchanged aningful glances, and as much as they were both upset that he had hid a matter so crucial from the both of them, they could not ignore him. In their eyes, he was still a child who was progressing and was bound to make mistakes on the way– still better late than never. Coming to a decision, Viktor’s shoulders eased.
"The guard at the gate claid she disappeared last night, on her own accord." Viktor started the conversation as he took his seat, "your wife wouldn’t leave on her own accord, it’s not possible unless soone made her leave." He asserted, based on his belief, and that only left Ivan feeling more perplexed.
"I don’t–"
"Marius made her do it," he said, sounding as though he was a witness to when everything happened, "Marius can’t get into the Palace even if he wanted to. His aura can only be concealed for so minutes, and that is a limitation to his presence, cause he will be caught eventually. The Palace is difficult to get into, but not impossible. I believe soone has helped him take your wife away, which isn’t good, at all." Viktor shook his head, especially now that Marius was involved.
"Marius spells trouble." Lucius comnted, his tone cryptic. "Since the Orb is human, who knows what kind of effect he would possess on the human as well. As for his location, that will be difficult, and the only way to know about Marius is–"
"Wait, soone helped Marius take my wife away?" He inquired, refusing to let that information pass him by, and they both nodded.
"As I said, Marius can’t step into the Palace, he will need help from soone who understands the Palace in order to assist him."
"You’re saying... I have a backstabber living under the sa roof with ?" His already dark eyes went ablaze.
—--
Back in the fortress, Marius stepped into his cold chamber with the unconscious beauty in his arms. Carefully, he laid her on his bed, and his obsidian-black eyes mirrored her unsettled expression, even in her present state. He did not want to leave her side, he had finally found his Sierra, and he wasn’t going to let her belong to soone entirely– he had stalled for too long.
"I told you this before," he moved away the strands of delicate locks from her face, "you are forever mine to own."
He whispered.
The soft footfalls of soone behind him had Marius regaining his composure, and from the honeyed scent he perceived, he knew it had to be Carla who had entered his private quarters. When she ca to stand beside him, he turned his head to see her gazing intently at the unconscious woman on his bed, whilst he noticed the subtle frown of her eyebrows.
"She... is the Orb?" She quietly inquired from Marius who moved away from the bed to pour himself a glass of water. His mouth had suddenly run dry, and all he could think about was getting himself a glass of water to quench his thirst. He hated how the woman interfered in his matter, but unfortunately, he couldn’t get rid of her, not when she was the pawn who would aid him in making it to the top.
"She’s pretty," she humd, "but I’m prettier." Eyeing the golden-blonde-haired lady with a haughty facade, she turned and went to et Marius who hadn’t moved away from the table where he drank water.
"What happens next? When will she wake up?"
"Soon." Marius’s lips curved slightly, but it wasn’t a smile, "when she does wake up, eventually, she won’t have a heart. Do you know why, my dearest Carla? Because only without a heart can she beco our most powerful tool."
