Chapter 245: Midnight Intruder
—
"Why on Earth did you go down there??"
Carla was at the verge of erupting at the Demon who was seated in his library, the glowing crystal placed on the table before him. Unlike Carla who seed to be in the middle of a quick rampage, the demon sitting at the table appeared nonchalantly calm.
His closed eyes eased with content, and his fingers drumd rhythmically on the surface of the table, the other, settling on his cheek, his elbow propped on the table.
He seed to be absorbed in his own world, giving zero percent of his attention to Carla’s continuous nagging. All he could think about was the face of his wife he had seen, his gorgeous wife, his one and only goddess...and all these years, the many decades, centuries that has passed, it felt impossible to bring her back but sohow, that useless Muzan had turned out useful, since he is the reason his wife had been reborn to Earth.
Nothing about her has changed, she looked exactly the sa, like his goddess Sierra.
"You nearly ruined everything all because of your stupid possession to that human orb! Are you listening to ?" The irritating voice of Carla snapped him out of his peaceful daydream. Opening his eyes, they visibly narrowed with a flash of fury, and in the blink of an eye, he was in front of Carla, his fingers wrapping around her neck as he slamd her onto the wall, but he didn’t use force– mainly to avoid damaging her weak spine.
Carla could feel the air being knocked out of her lungs, and the anger in his eyes had frightened her to the extent she could no longer speak. Her gaze displayed her fear, and when his obsidian-black eyes penetrated into her own, she almost let out a frightened squeak.
"Don’t you ever," he growled, intentionally taking a pause, "tell
what I should or shouldn’t do. If this disrespect repeats itself again, forget about speaking, I won’t spare your vocal cords." Releasing her neck so she could breathe, he scowled at her figure before he angrily stord out of his library, leaving the woman to painfully gasp for air.
Carla watched his figure retreat from the library, and her body shook when doors slamd after his exit. Rising to her trembling feet, Carla was awestruck since this would be the first ti he dared lay his hands on her, but the aura he emitted a few seconds ago– he would have killed her.
Was this the man she married or soone else?

In the kingdom of Aragon, the days passed with all sorts of activities taking place, both in the Chevalier Palace, and the Kingdom of Aragon. Samantha’s day had been occupied, and the only ti she got enough monts to lay her head and rest was at midnight, but when it got to her Fourth day, she always woke up to a strange presence in her room– at first she believed it was her imagination tricking her, but right now, it was starting to creep her out.
All the rituals went well, and Lucinda had been a helping hand, including Lucy who had shown up, just like Lucinda had assured her she would. Even with Lucy’s presence, the physical sensation of soone in her chamber did not leave, and when she indirectly asked Lucy if she felt anything strange last night, her responses were always the sa.
"Maybe your mind isn’t accustod to the new environnt yet." She said, and Samantha would have believed it, actually, it made sense. But then again, she has slept here once, and she didn’t feel like this.
When night ca, Lucy had gotten her ready for bed.
"Are you sure you don’t want
to stay over?" She asked, noticing the worry on her friend’s facial features. She knew Samantha was having difficulty sleeping at night, as she sensed there was soone watching her. Infact, she had volunteered herself to stay awake and see who was bothering her friend when she was supposed to be having her beauty sleep, but there was no one.
"I am fine." Samantha shook her head slowly, masking her unease with a smile. "You have done so much for , I think I will fare well on my own tonight. There was no one in my room, and maybe you are right about the environnt thing. You should get so sleep."
"Alright." Exchanging smiles, Lucy finally left Samantha in her chamber.
Before climbing her bed, Samantha made sure to confirm that her windows and doors were locked. Pulling her blanket over her body, she gazed at the ceiling, and for safety purposes, she slept with a mini-sized dagger for protection. She had decided to leave her candelabras burning tonight, and after feeling safe, she closed her eyes and tried to get so sleep.
Halfway through her slumbers, a sudden noise jolted her awake, whilst her eyes instinctively snapped open as she blinked. A gasp escaped her lips as she pushed herself up, her hands already reaching for the dagger under her pillow. rely grasping it and feeling the blade gave her so comfort, and her eyes quickly scanned the room to detect where the sound was coming from.
Her instincts, which beca sharper, picked up on the unusual sound coming from her window. It was a faint, almost eerie scraping sound, as if soone was trying to get inside. Fear pricked her skin, and she knew she had to act quickly.
Could it be her midnight intruder??
With the blade clutched tightly in her hands, Samantha slipped out of the extravagant canopy bed. Her bare feet barely made a sound as she tip-toed on the marble floor. Her rich, blue midnight gown flowed like water as she glided towards the window.
Just as she poised herself to strike, the window slowly creaked open. Her body tensed, hands ready to attack the one who had been ssing with her nights, but before she brought the blade down, a familiar silhouette ca into view, one that made her heart skip a beat.
Ivan was cautiously climbing in through the window, but his eyes widened upon realizing he nearly t her blade.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
Samantha’s defensive stance shifted into confusion, and when she realized she wasn’t hallucinating his presence, a wave of relief washed over her.
"Ivan?"
She lowered her dagger, her lips curling into a mixture of surprise and awe at his presence. She took a step back when he entered her room using the window, and it had left her dazed to see a King sneaking in, most especially Ivan himself.
"You’re... here?" Her big round eyes blinked in disbelief at his presence. He straightened up after adjusting the simple outfit he had put on.
Samantha’s eyes never left him, and her burning Candelabras illuminated the young man’s features when he lifted his head to et her green orbs, and her face instantly brightened.
"Ivan!"
She imdiately rushed into his arms, embracing him as he effortlessly lifted her, her feets no longer touching the ground. He twirled her around in his embrace before setting her down, and when Samantha tried to speak, he quietly hushed her.
"Shhhh... I’m not supposed to be here." He hinted at the excited woman whose expression froze in montary confusion. When his words finally sunk in, she let out a soft gasp before darting her gaze at the window, then at him.
"You snuck here??!"
"What did you think? I had to co." He explained as quietly as he could, and when his eyes raked over her, he imdiately felt alive and unlike the being whose soul had been separated from his body. Unable to stop himself, he pulled her into his embrace again, and Samantha couldn’t hold back a chuckle when he hugged her tight. She could tell from his embrace how much he missed her without having him utter the words himself.
"I thought I’d lose grip of myself if I didn’t see you."
"But Aunt Lucinda, everyone will be upset if they find out what you did." She reminded him of the consequences when they pulled back, and he didn’t seem to care.
"Well it’s either this unless they are satisfied with
being a dead man. If they hate it they can carry a shovel and dig the ground, then bury themselves alive."
"But you scared !" Samantha wrapped her arms around him, "I thought soone was breaking in. How did you even climb all the way here? This is the top floor, the highest chamber, and the guards... What did you do with the guards?"
Moving away from Ivan, Samantha went to her window and looked below. Her pupils dilated to see Alistair and Tobias standing in the midst of unconscious guards, and they waved at her upon sighting her up the window.
"Knocked them out cold." Ivan explained as he joined her, "by tomorrow, they won’t rember a thing. I promise, none of them were hard."
"What happens now?"
"You’re coming with ." His eyes twinkled as he closed the distance between them, "you, and , we’re leaving, but only for tonight."
"We cannot act like this, what if soone notices?"
"No one will notice, I made sure of it."
"What does that an?"
"Nothing." He smiled innocently, "co." And he swept her off her feet.
