Chapter 272: Chapter 272
"Your mother is literally right there and you are acting like this is nothing, like carrying
upside down is completely normal, but it is not! Nothing about this is normal! Tell her who I am right now or I swear I will scream until the whole house knows my na!"
His growl ripped through the hall, vibrating against my ribs. "Keep running that filthy little mouth of yours in front of my mother and I swear, tomorrow will not co before I deal with you first."
I twisted on his shoulder, clawing at his back, my hair flying in every direction, and the words just poured out of , louder and faster with every breath.
"Ma’am, please! Please, help ! I am begging you! Do you see what your son is doing to ? He is carrying
like I am a bag of groceries! I swear I did not agree to this, I am not a volunteer in so circus act! I have legs, I can walk, I promise I know how to walk on my own two feet.
"He is kidnapping
in your own house, right in front of you! You are his mother, aren’t you supposed to stop him? Please, I am not crazy, I am not usually upside down like this, I swear I am a very respectable person when I am right side up!"
Damon’s grip on
tightened like steel, but I was too far gone to stop.
I was flailing my arms, kicking my legs, shrieking like a banshee because if anyone was going to save
from this humiliation, it had to be his mother.
"I am begging you, ma’am, I am too young to die of embarrassnt. I am only eighteen, I have a whole life ahead of , and if this continues I will not survive it. Your son is insane! He is crazy! Do you see this? Argh! Your son is going to kill
with humiliation! Please tell him to put
down before my brain falls out of my head from all the blood rushing this way!"
And then I heard it. The most glorious, heavenly words I had ever heard in my entire life, delivered in the calst, most motherly voice that made
want to cry with joy.
"Damon, child, drop the girl down."
I froze for half a second and then scread like I had just won the lottery. "Yes! Thank you, ma’am! Thank you, Goddess bless you, you are the only sane person in this house! Do you hear that, Damon?
"Your mother said drop
down! She is your mother, you cannot disobey her, so put
down right now before I combust into flas of sha and regret. Please, please, please, I beg you, let
down so I can look like a human being again instead of an upside down chicken!"
Damon growled deep in his chest, and I could feel the vibration against my stomach. He muttered through clenched teeth, his voice rough with irritation. "Mum, not now."
"Not now?" I scread again, pounding his back with my fists. "What do you an not now? She is your mother! She literally told you to drop
down!
"Are you insane? Do you want to get cursed for disobedience? Damon, put
down! She outranks you! She created you! The least you can do is listen to her and put your poor, humiliated girlfriend down before I die right here on your shoulder!"
His mother’s voice ca again, firr this ti. "Damon. Drop. The. Girl."
I gasped dramatically, clinging to his back as if my life depended on it. "Did you hear that? She said it again! I told you, Damon, you cannot fight your mother. No wolf in the world can fight his mother. It is like, a universal law! Please just put
down before she gets angry and I get blad for it because you refuse to listen!"
I was practically bouncing with hope when his mother told him again to drop
down. I thought for sure I was saved. I thought he would listen, that he would finally obey the one person in the world no son ever dares disobey.
But Damon only growled low in his chest, the sound making my stomach clench, and he answered her without even breaking his stride.
"No, Mum.
"Arghhhh!?" I scread, my voice cracking so hard it echoed off the walls. "What do you an no? You cannot just tell your mother ’tomorrow.’ She literally told you to put
down!
"Do you even hear yourself? Oh my God, I cannot believe you! Do you know how many boys in this world would be struck dead on the spot for ignoring their mothers like this?
But Damon did not listen. He carried
up the staircase with the sa calm, powerful strides, my body bouncing against his shoulder while I kept thrashing and ranting like so possessed child.
He did not say a word until we reached the top of the stairs. He shoved the bedroom door open with his shoulder, strode inside, and then dropped
down on the bed like I was nothing
I I gasped, sprawling on the sheets with my hair a ss, my face red, my chest heaving. Before I could even scramble up, he shut the door behind him with a slam and turned the lock with a click.
My heart was pounding so loudly I could barely hear my own thoughts when his shadow fell over . He took one step closer.
"You think my mother will save you? Cute."
