Chapter 256: Chapter 256
I could feel my hands balling into fists because I was half tempted to shake her and half tempted to just scream into a pillow. "Tasha, I don’t care if he could make you see God with his tongue. That is not an excuse for walking straight back into hell."
Damon’s voice ca low, but it vibrated through the air like a warning growl.
"Do you even hear yourself right now? You’re talking about how much you liked fucking him while I am standing here planning how I’m going to kill him. You loved his dick? Good. Then why don’t you go back to him! This ti around he would shove a knife in your pussy"
Tasha let out another sob, clutching her knees like she was trying to hold herself together.
"I know it’s wrong! I know I sound insane! But you don’t understand, it wasn’t just sex. It was like... it was like he had a hold over .
"Like he knew exactly what to say and exactly how to touch
to make
forget everything else. And then after... after he’d make
feel like nothing. Like I was nothing."
Her voice cracked, and she blinked rapidly, like she was struggling to keep her focus.
"I hate him for what he did, but part of
hates myself more because I still rember how good it felt before it got bad. I don’t even know if that makes
broken or just stupid, but I can’t stop thinking about it. I can’t stop thinking about him."
I stared at her, my hands curling into fists at my sides because hearing her romanticize the sa man who had just bashed her in the head made my skin crawl.
"Tasha, are you even listening to yourself? He hit you. He could have killed you. And you’re still sitting here talking about how good the sex was like that cancels out the fact that he tried to break your skull open."
But she barely seed to hear . Her gaze slid to Damon, and her voice dropped into sothing softer, almost like she was talking in her sleep.
"And, Dad... you were right about Mum." Her lashes lowered, and her words slowed even more. "She left again."
Well technically Damon killed Camilla but Tasha didn’t know this yet. Before I could even react to that, her head tilted to the side against the back of the couch.
Her eyes rolled shut, her lips parted, and her body went limp as if every ounce of energy had left her. She was not just closing her eyes. She was passing out right in front of us.
"Damon!" I shouted, lunging forward and grabbing her shoulders. "She’s out! She’s actually out! Tasha, co on, wake up, open your eyes, don’t do this to
right now!" My voice shook as I tried to keep the panic from swallowing
whole.
Damon was already moving, crouching down on the other side of her, his face set in a grim, tight line. "She’s breathing," he said, his voice low but firm, his hands already moving to lift her. "Should we take her with us"
I blinked at him, sure I had heard him wrong. "What?" I blurted out, my voice shooting up like I’d just been slapped with the dumbest question in the world. "Take her with us? As in... on the plane? To the pack house? To another country?
"No, Damon. No," I said firmly, stepping right into his path before he could head toward the stairs. "We can just leave her here and call a doctor. I don’t have a good feeling about this, please.
He shifted Tasha’s weight in his arms, his eyes still locked on mine with that unblinking.
"Co on, kitten. I know you hate her, but look at her," he said, his voice softening just enough to make
falter.
"She’s barely holding on. She’s not safe here. Marcus knows where she lives. He knows how to find her. And if he’s already willing to smash a lamp over her head, what do you think he’s going to do if she’s alone?"
I shook my head quickly, clinging to the tiny bit of logic I had left. "That doesn’t an we take her."
"Kitten," he said again, this ti quieter, almost coaxing. "Don’t worry. She won’t stay with us. There will be another house where she will stay. Sowhere away from the main pack, sowhere guarded and secure.
"She won’t be in your space, she won’t be breathing down your neck, but she will be alive. And right now, that’s what matters."
"Damon, I honestly don’t like this," I said, my voice low but steady, even though my heart was pounding.
"I don’t think Tasha has changed. You know how she is. She might harm the baby. You can tell
all day that she’ll be in another house, but I still don’t trust her, and I do not want her anywhere near
or our child." My arms folded across my chest without
even realizing it.
He looked at
for a long mont, his eyes locked on mine with that deep, commanding gaze that made it hard to breathe.
"Kitten, listen to Daddy," he said slowly, his voice dipping into that low husky voice.
"Don’t be naughty, okay? Everything will be fine. I told you, she won’t be in your space, and she won’t be near the baby. I will make sure of it. All you have to do is trust ."
I forced a smile, tilting my head just enough to make it look like I was reassured, but deep down my heart wasn’t settled, and I could not shake the image of her in the sa country as us, even if she was in another house.
Who knows what would happen next.
