Arwen hesitated for a second. "She didn’t exactly push . She just walked past , and I couldn’t step away at the right mont."
"You didn’t have to step away, Wenna," Gianna said with a frown. "And her action was damn intentional. If she had to just walk past us, she didn’t have to storm past from between us."
Arwen turned and glared at her. "Anna!"
"What? I didn’t say anything wrong." Gianna defended, crossing her arms, and looking at her like that, Arwen simply pressed her lips. She couldn’t say anything more. Can she?
Turning to Aiden, she reached and held his hands and slowly explained. "Emily could be called childish. She blas for her misfortune, and I believe, partially, she is right. Although I didn’t cause any of her misery, what she went through was sohow because of . So let’s not dwell on her matters anymore. As long as we don’t cross paths, it would be fine. She would eventually grow."
Recently, there was one thing that Arwn had co to realize. No matter how gentle and sweet Aiden was around her, he wasn’t the very sa to others. So, she was just trying to protect Emily. She didn’t owe her anything, but sowhere she still felt guilty.
"You are kind," Aiden patted over her hand, his voice softly levelled, "However, kindness like that isn’t in my nature."
Arwen pursed her lips as she heard that. She understood exactly what he ant. "Just one ti," she whispered again.
Aiden didn’t say anything. After a while, he nodded to her.
She smiled at him.
Gianna, who watched their exchange, pressed her lips. She didn’t know what to say. So, in the end, she only cleared her throat and asked, "You said I did sothing wrong. Can you tell what exactly did I do?"
Arwen pulled her hand and turned to glance towards her friend. Lifting her finger, she slowly pointed at her dress. "You wore the wrong style. This ... gown isn’t going well with your figure."
Gianna stared down at herself, and her brows furrowed. "Really?" she then looked back at Arwen and whined, "Oh God! I am going crazy. I couldn’t find anything good. Do you think I can walk down the aisle without a wedding gown?"
Arwen paused for a mont as though she was considering her words. Then, standing up, she said, "You can, but you don’t have to."
"I think I would have to. Because here nothing is — " Her words paused when Arwen picked a box from the side and slowly gestured to her to take it. "What is this?"
"Sothing that won’t disappoint you," Arwen replied, giving the box to her.
Gianna looked at her doubtfully before taking the box and opening it to see. Her pupil dilated in surprise as the white, refined silk fabric ca into her vision. "This —" She looked back at Arwen only to find her smile.
She quickly put down the box and pulled out the gown to see. The shimring studs adorning the flowy pattern on the skirt were enough to dazzle even the brightest light.
"I was running out of ideas, so I ca up with thi,s thinking you might like it. This is my gift to you for your wedding." Arwen said slowly, her voice carrying the weight of the emotion she shared with Gianna. "How is it? Did you like it?"
"This is so ... so beautiful," Gianna muttered, staring at Arwen, her gaze brimming with happiness. "But tell sothing, when did you prepare it?"
Aura was out of the country, and that’s why they had to co here.
Arwen smiled when she heard her friend. She understood where that doubt was coming from. Rubbing her nose, she finally revealed, "You might think you are clever, Anna, but you forgot who I am? Did you really think you were able to hide things from ?"
"You saw it through?" Gianna asked, her cheeks flushed out of embarrassnt.
"Of course, I did," Arwen said, her tone carrying a known obviousness. "I saw it through from the very beginning. Back when you didn’t really like him, and then also when you guys had already gotten together secretly. I knew it already. It’s just that I never said that aloud to give you two the ti you needed."
Gianna only felt shy. She wanted to say that she didn’t an to hide it, but she felt too embarrassed to justify the secret ga she played.
"It’s fine. You don’t have to explain," Arwen read her expression again. "I knew you were not very sure of things and were just trying to understand better. However, you never realized that it was not just the confusion. You were falling hard and fast for Lawyer Thorne."
"I didn’t fall for him at first. He did," Gianna defended. "I only reciprocated."
Arwen smiled teasingly and nodded. "Of course, he did. After all, you have set the premise to captivate him, haven’t you?"
"You —" Gianna began, but then her words felt stuck in her throat. She quickly looked at the gown and said, "Don’t you want to see trying out this gown? I will go and change first."
And with that, she already turned and rushed away.
Arwen watched her and smiled, shaking her head. When she turned back, Arwen was staring at her.
She walked to him and slowly sat down beside him.
"Is that what you have been busy with recently?" he asked, and smiling, Arwen nodded.
"It might start with a simple imagination, but designing it completely takes quite a lot of ti," she explained. "I wanted Anna to be happy with everything. After all, every woman deserves to have the best wedding gown. How can I let her have any less?"
Aiden paused at her words. His brows subtly furrowed as though realizing one thing that had almost slipped out his mind.
When Arwen felt him lost in thought, she asked, "What are you thinking?"
He didn’t respond imdiately. Before Arwen could ask him again, Gianna’s voice ca, taking away her attention.
"Wenna!"
Arwen turned to look her way, her lips turning up in a smile. "Yes, that’s looking just perfect," she said, standing again, and walking up to her. Her gaze squinted a little to note down the details. "We just need to do a little alteration, and it would fit you perfectly."
Gianna turned and checked herself in the mirror, nodding. "Yes, this is actually looking perfect."
Arwen smiled at her and then turned to the attendant to instruct. And soon soone ca to take a better note of asurent. Once that was done, Gianna was ready to change.
However, before moving to the dressing room, she turned to Arwen and asked hesitantly, "Wenna, can you please co with once?"
Arwen nodded, and then, giving a look to Aiden, she walked away with Gianna.
"What is it?" she asked, and Gianna paused in her steps, turning to look at Arwen with the sa hesitation with which she had stared at her before.
Arwen also stopped and stared at her. "Anna?"
"Ummm ... I don’t know how you are going to react to this, but Wenna, this is about Emily."
"Emily?" Arwen asked, her brows slightly tugging together to form a frown.
Gianna humd, nodding. "Wasn’t she showing her ring earlier? Do you know who she is engaged to?"
Arwen shook her head.
"It’s Benjamin Hughes," Gianna slowly said. "A man in his late seventies. An attendant said that Emily has been frequenting a lot recently for her wedding shopping, and she had been using Mr. Hughes’ card."
Arwen’s brows furrowed. She didn’t say anything, and for a second Gianna thought that she was again blaming herself.
She was about to tell her that it was Emily’s choice and that there was nothing for her to take the bla for. But just then, Arwen sighed and spoke.
"Emily finally has what she has been desiring."
Gianna stared at her, confused.
Arwen smiled and explained, "Emily desired to be rich. If not as the rich heiress then as the rich lady. It’s fine. It’s her choice who she chooses to spend her life with."
"Yes, exactly," Gianna nodded. "Emily’s choice is hers to make. No one owes her anything because what she is receiving is also a part of her choices." Her words were ant to make Arwen realize that it was her ti to let go of her guilt.
And Arwen understood the aning behind her words. She smiled and nodded.
anwhile, Aiden’s brows were tugged in a frown. He pulled out his phone and made a call, which was answered imdiately.
"Sir," Emyr greeted from the other end of the call.
"I want you to make arrangents," Aiden said through the line.
Emyr asked in confusion, "Arrangents?"
"Wedding arrangents," Aiden replied, his voice low but firm. "Make it grand. It should be —"
"It doesn’t have to be grand."
A voice interrupted him, and he stared up to find Arwen standing just a few steps away.
When their eyes t, she smiled and said, "I don’t want a grand wedding. I just want a wedding that’s unforgettable. Cozy and warm."
