"Who is it?"

Aiden asked, looking at her, his voice soft and gentle as always.

Arwen sighed in relief before she shook her head at him. Then she spoke hastily on the line, as if rushing to get it done as soon as possible before hanging up.

"You can confirm it. I will co tomorrow."

"Sure, ma’am."

And with that, the call was disconnected.

Arwen set the phone down and then gave a smile to Aiden, who was still looking at her as if waiting for her to say sothing.

"They just wanted to confirm the appointnt."

"Appointnt?"

Arwen nodded, feigning nonchalance. "Yes. I feel like I need to rejuvenate. So, I booked a spa." As she said that, she crossed her fingers, feeling guilty of lying to him.

However, she couldn’t tell anything until she confird the things herself. After all, nothing seems as simple as she thought it was before. Not her past, not her mories and not her amnesia.

Aiden felt his phone vibrate in his hand. He turned to glance at it and, seeing Emyr’s na flashing on the screen, his brows furrowed a little.

However, those creases eased before Arwen could notice them.

"I need to leave for sothing," he said, turning to look back at Arwen.

Arwen’s brows knitted slightly before she checked the ti on her watch. "At this ti?" she asked, not understanding what work would need him this late at night. "It’s already close to dinner ti. Don’t tell you are planning to skip it. You didn’t have dinner yesterday night, and you also skipped breakfast this morning. This can’t continue. And —"

Before she could speak any further, Aiden’s finger pressed against her lips, shushing her into silence.

"Shh ... I am not skipping another al. Nor am I intending to let you wait late for to return," he murmured, and her brows knitted, not understanding what he ant.

She removed his finger from her lips and pursed. "Then, are you taking along?"

He shook his head again and reached out to brush away her strand of hair that was coming over her face. "You can’t co with ?"

Arwen’s frown deepened, and the ’why’ was on the tip of her tongue. But before she could roll it out, she heard him speak out for himself.

"You didn’t rest well last night. Tonight, you need to sleep properly here on the bed. So, we will finish our dinner and then I will leave."

"But —"

"No discussion over this, Moon."

She pressed her lips into a tight line and stared at him with narrowed eyes. But when she saw how relentless he looked, she nodded. "Fine, then let’s go and finish the dinner. Then you can leave for wherever you want, and I won’t stay awake waiting for you."

With that, Arwen stood up, stomping her feet lightly. "Don’t sit there and delay for longer. Let go." She grabbed his hand and then pulled him with her out of the room, heading straight downstairs.

Aiden stared at her and shook his head. But showed no protest. He let her lead him however she wanted.

Later that night in so deserted dark dungeon —

A woman’s yells could be heard. But no matter how she yelled, there seed to be no one to hear her. Not because she was alone there, but because people who were there with her were pretending not to hear her at all.

"I am asking you to untie . Are you all deaf? Co and untie now," she hollered; however, once again, the n who stood in front of her didn’t hear her.

They stared at her as though they were staring at an empty chair.

"You —how dare you ignore like that? Do you even know who I am?" She sneered, furious at the way she was getting treated. "I am Selene Martin, the young lady of the Martin family —one of the wealthiest families of New York. Do you think you will escape treating like this?"

She twisted her wrist trying to free herself. But the more she did that, the tighter the knot felt around her wrist, making her grimace in pain.

"I said open now. Or else, you will all have to take the consequence."

At that mont, a man stepped forward from the shadows.

"It’s not us," he said, his voice dark and threatening, sending shivers down Selene’s spine, "but you, who is here to take the consequences. So, instead of threatening us, be more scared. Because what’s coming your way isn’t going to be easy."

"W-what do you an? What consequences?" Selene tried her best to not get scared but when she looked into the man’s eyes, she couldn’t help but feel her bones going brittle. "A-And who the hell are you?"

She asked but the man stared at her with no intention to answer her.

"See, let go and I will give you anything you ask for," Selene tried again, struggling in the chair. She just wanted to escape from this place as soon as possible. The more she stayed in this place, the more she felt scared. And she couldn’t take it any longer.

"Is it money? Assets? Properties?" she offered. "Ask anything and trust I will give it to you. Just let go."

However, the man stared at her before turning to look at his brothers.

And just when Selene thought they were considering, they broke into loud chuckle as though making fun of her.

She fingers clenched and she stared at them begrudgingly. "You — you ... why are you all laughing like that?" she gritted. "You don’t believe ? Trust , I can offer everything I promised. If you still not believe, you can go ahead and check about . I am rich and afford everything. I will —"

"Do you think we are doing this for your money?" the man sneered, stepping closer and leaning enough to make her look into his dark, scary eyes —one that were glinting dangerously.
