Catrin’s brows furrowed, and she knew what the lawyer was here for. Her eyes turned cold as she glaringly stared at the butler and snapped, "Since when did I start walking to people at their beck and call, Mr. Cole. Did you forget who I am? Or have you forgotten how to dismiss people who co looking for without an appointnt?"

Mr. Cole looked troubled. He didn’t dare look into her eyes. With his head hung low, he slowly said, "Madam, I tried it. I told him that you are resting and won’t be eting at the mont, but he said that he would wait until you are ready to see him."

Catrin frowned when she heard him. "Then let him. If he has so much free ti, then he could waste it as he wants."

"But Madam —"

"You can leave, Mr. Cole." She didn’t allow him to speak more.

The butler had no choice but to leave.

When he went down again, the lawyer looked up at him and asked, "Has Mrs. Quinn agreed to et now?"

Mr. Cole shook his head and then urged, "Madam is having a headache. Please consider coming another day, Mr. Blackwood. One day more won’t make a difference."

However, the lawyer stood firm in his mission. Shaking his head, he said, "Even a day’s delay will make a difference to , Mr. Cole, because my client wants things to proceed and get completed as soon as possible. And that’s why I am here. I would wait until Mrs. Quinn is ready to see ."

With that, he was about to sit down again. But just then, Catrin’s voice made him pause.

"I didn’t know you had so much ti to waste on the case that’s not going to proceed, Mr. Blackwood."

Catrin’s eyes stared at the lawyer from a distance as she slowly descended the stairs.

"It’s my job to dedicate my ti to my client’s request, Mrs. Quinn, and I am just doing that." The lawyer said with a polite smile.

But that smile was never returned. Instead, Catrin’s gaze only turned colder at him. As she ca closer, she went to take a seat on the opposite side. "Did you not hear what I said the last ti?" she asked, her tone tight and restrained. "I am not going forward with this divorce. Idris is my husband, and we are rely having an argunt. We can’t just break up over a simple argunt after staying in a marriage for more than half of our lives."

"Mrs. Quinn," Mr. Blackwood replied gently, "you know better than anyone that my client does not see this as a trivial argunt. If he —"

Before he could finish, Catrin cut him off, her voice sharp as a blade. "How dare you? Do you think you hold a position to speak of my relationship with my husband?"

Mr. Blackwood gave her a professional smile, dipping his head slightly, "My apologies. I did not an to offend you, Mrs. Quinn. I am simply here to speak on behalf of my client regarding the divorce he has already initiated."

"I already told you," she said, her voice rising, "I am not divorcing. You may leave." She gestured toward the door, her eyes flicking to the butler. "Mr. Cole, please go and see Lawyer Blackwood out."

Before the butler could obey, Blackwood’s voice cut through, smooth yet firm, the edge of warning laced beneath the courtesy.

"I would still ask you to reconsider it, Mrs. Quinn. Because your refusal will only invite unnecessary losses for you —one that you might not be as willing to take as my client."

Catrin paused, her brows drawing together. "What do you an?"

Mr. Blackwood held her gaze evenly, then reached into his bag to retrieve the set of papers Idris had signed earlier. He slid them across the table towards her.

"I only ant to remind you of what is at stake," he said evenly. "You should think carefully before deciding whether to sign these papers or not. Because the divorce is final to happen. If you take the rough path, it will only invite speculation and criticism. Not only will it harm your and Mr. Quinn’s personal reputations, but it will also cast a shadow over your company, the Quinn Corporation."

He paused for effect, his voice lowering slightly. "At that ti, you will lose on both fronts. Right now, you still have the chance to save one."

Catrin’s fingers clenched, curling into fists. She understood what the lawyer was trying to say. "Are you threatening , Lawyer Blackwood?"

"I wouldn’t dare that, Mrs. Quinn. I am a lawyer, and I am only talking about what’s best for both my client and you. A win-win situation for both parties." He said with the sa professional smile of his. This wasn’t his idea. It was Idris’s. He knew his wife too well to know what could make her reconsider, decide and agree.

Catrin’s hand hovered over the papers, her lips pressing into a thin line. "You think I can’t see through what you are trying?" she asked, her voice laced with hostility. "I can see it clearly. But it seems there is sothing that you are failing to see."

Mr. Blackwood’s expression didn’t waver. He looked at the lady, waiting for her to speak.

"Quinn Corporation is not just my weakness. It’s also Idris’s. We have both worked to bring it to success. I don’t think he would put it to stake." She said confidently.

However, her confidence cracked when she saw the lawyer giving her another polite smile of his.

"My client has made his stance clear from the very beginning. He won’t mind staking his or the corporation’s reputation if that’s what ensures this divorce."

Catrin couldn’t believe. Her fingers clenched over the cover of the file. "You are lying."

The lawyer shook his head. "I don’t have a reason to. I am stating just what Mr. Idris has conveyed to ."

Catrin’s heart clenched. The company had always been their shared pride —their lifework, their anchor. How could Idris just throw it away like it ant nothing? And for what? Just to divorce her?

"So," Mr. Blackwood spoke again, "what have you thought, Mrs. Quinn?"

Catrin didn’t answer imdiately. Her jaws flexed as she clenched and unclenched her teeth.

"Fine," she said at last, her voice low but firm. "I will sign the papers."

And with that, she picked the pen with stiff fingers and forced her na onto the docunt she never thought of signing.
