Closing the report, she tucked the file back in one of her desk drawers. Then, pushing her chair, she stood, taking the phone in her hand.

"I have finished going through those files. You can have them delivered to the respective departnts," she instructed her secretary.

Mia nodded briskly.

Arwen glanced at her watch. Seeing that it was past afternoon, she asked, "If there is nothing else for today, I will be leaving."

Mia quickly checked her tablet before speaking again. "There is sothing that I forgot to report to you, ma’am."

Arwen stared at her, "What is it?" she asked, patiently.

"Officer Davis has tried to reach you earlier," Mia explained. "He said they have secured new evidence regarding your accident. And ... they have taken Ms. Ember into custody."

Arwen’s brows arched faintly. "They have taken Delyth into custody?" she repeated, almost as though she needed to hear it again to believe it.

Mia nodded with certainty. "Yes, ma’am. Officer Davis almost ntioned that as the investigation progresses, they will keep us updated."

Arwen paused for a second. She never expected that with Ryan around, Delyth would ever see a day like this.

But then, she had long stopped expecting anything from what happened in the past.

She nodded, not thinking much about it. "Then let know when they update you again."

Mia nodded.

"Okay, then, with that, I will be leaving," she said before she grabbed her bag to walk out of the office. Mia followed her.

She had already inford Alfred of her plans, so when she reached down, he was already ready with the car.

"Drive, Alfred," she said she settling comfortably in the passenger seat behind.

And soon after she said, the car drove out of the company’s premises.

anwhile, back at Winslow Residence —

Selene sat in her room, clearly in her worst mood. She wanted to wreak havoc, but she simply couldn’t at this place.

Nothing was going according to her. She had thought that as long as she was closer to Aiden, he would start noticing her. But even staying in the sa house as him now ... she was barely able to et him alone.

Not because she didn’t get any chance to, but because he never allowed her to appear in front of him.

And all of these were because of her —because of Arwen.

"Ms. Selene," Carla spoke carefully, her voice laced with clear concern, "please have sothing. You haven’t eaten properly since last night."

"Don’t repeat the sa thing over and over, Carla," Selene snapped, her patience thinning. "I told you I am not in the mood to have anything. Can’t you understand sothing so simple?"

"But Ms. Selene, you can’t go on like this. You still have a weakness. If you don’t have food and dicines on ti, you might faint again."

"Wouldn’t that be good?" Selene said almost imdiately, smiling bitterly. "Maybe ... maybe then, Aiden might look my way. He hasn’t looked at since the day I ca here." She wasn’t just desperate anymore; with every passing day, she was losing her mind and calm.

Carla’s brows tugged in worry. But before she could speak again, a knock at the door paused her.

When she walked to check, it was Olivia.

"I am here to hand these over to Ms. Martin," Olivia said firmly.

Carla looked at her and frowned, but then, stepping aside, she allowed her to enter.

When Selene saw her, her expression soured further. Her fingers curled into her palm. "Did you handle what I asked you to handle?"

Olivia t her gaze steadily. "Ms. Martin, I have helped you complete the process with the brand."

"What do you an by that? Did you do it or not?" Selene’s frown deepened. She had ordered Olivia to force the brand into compliance, but it didn’t seem that had happened.

"The brand had paid the compensation they owed. On behalf of you and the company, I oversaw the entire procedure. With that settled, I ca today to inform you that I have resigned. I will no longer be your assistant. I will be taking my flight back to New York tonight."

Selene’s face darkened. A deeper frown settled between her brows. "What did you say? You resigned?"

Olivia nodded.

"With whose permission?" Selene roared.

However, Olivia didn’t flinch. "I have already inford Michael about it. He will assign you another assistant, who will replace soon." She bowed slightly, her tone courteous but distant. "Thank you for looking after , Ms. Martin. Since I have already updated you, I will take my leave."

And then, she turned and walked out.

Selene watched her, grinding her teeth. Unable to hold her fury, she natched a jug from the table and hurled it to the floor. It shattered into countless shards, making Carla jump in alarm.

"Ms. Selene, please — be careful! You will hurt yourself."

However, Selene didn’t seem to care. Her chest heaved, her composure crumbling entirely. "How dare she?"

Then, snatching her phone, she dialled a number. The mont the line connected, her voice dripped with venom. "Blacklist Olivia Bailey completely. I don’t want her to have a future in the industry. I want her to rot and regret until she is dead in this world."

Saying that, she hung up without hesitation. Olivia has worked for her not for months, but years ... all diligently. But Selene didn’t care. All she cared about was that she dared to betray her.

"Ms. Selene, calm down. She wasn’t worth it. You will find a better assistant than her," Carla tried soothing her, but Selene’s ears were deaf to reason.

Right then, her phone rang again. And she answered it sharply. "Did you find out?"

The man on the other end spoke calmly. "Young Miss, you have guessed it correctly. The brand didn’t breach the contract willingly. Soone pushed them to."

Selene’s knuckles whitened as her nails dug into her palm. She had known it. "Who?" she demanded, waiting to hear Arwen’s na.

But the na she heard next made her blood run cold. The ground beneath her seed to shift, leaving her stunned in disbelief.
