Arwen’s fingers slowly moved over her phone screen as she scrolled through the report compiled about her. "How is this possible?" she muttered under her breath.

"Ma’am, even I am confused why it turned out like this," Mia’s voice ca through her AirPods. "The investigator said he tried his best to dig deeper into your past, but he couldn’t find much. Especially the information about the three years you spent in your forr high school. According to him ..."

She paused, her voice tapering off as if unsure whether to continue.

"What did he say?" Arwen asked, her brows knitting together, catching the hesitation.

"According to him ... soone seed to have deliberately tampered with your records. Soone has tried to —"

"Erase them," Arwen finished for her, her voice flat but sharp. The mont she saw the redacted data and inconsistencies; the idea had already taken root in her mind.

Mia went silent for a mont. It was as if she were trying to wrap her head around the possibility. But no matter how she thought about it, she couldn’t co up with any reasonable explanation.

"But ma’am ... why would soone try to erase your past? Every important detail about you is still publicly available. Your family, your achievents, your ties with Davies Group —none of that’s been touched."

Arwen stayed silent, her eyes still fixed on the screen. She could feel her pulse rise beneath her skin.

People erase traces of the past for only a few reasons:

To bury an identity.

To hide sothing shaful.

Or to ... to protect a truth too dangerous to reveal.

But none of that made sense. She had always lived her life in the open. As the Quinn heiress, her life was well docunted. What could possibly be hidden in a small part of her high school life that soone would go to such lengths to erase?

The more Arwen thought about it, the more her expression turned graver. She was only snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Mia’s voice on the other end of the call.

"Ma’am, are you still there?"

Arwen humd in response. After that, she shifted a little in her posture and spoke through the call. "Wire the paynt to the investigator and thank him."

"Ma’am, you won’t ask him to try more?" Mia asked, and from her voice, one could imagine her brows tugged in a serious consideration.

However, Arwen was clear.

"He already tried his best," she said, continuing, "The details he wasn’t able to find out would be only difficult for him to find even if we ask him to try again. So, there is no need. End the deal with him. As for the rest ..." she paused, her tone dipping a dip deeper. "I will look for the answers on my own."

With that said, she hung up.

Her gaze went back to look at her phone, turning serious. All her life, she felt like her life was an open book. But only now did she realize that there were many things that she was unaware of about herself.

She had always thought the mories she had no rembrance of were irrelevant, and hence, she had forgotten them.

But that was not true. Reading the diary made her understand that she might have lost the rembrance of the people and mories that she had promised herself to rember forever.

And now this ...

Tampering with her past.

No matter how she tried to see them together, none of this seed to be simple.

It all seed to be part of sothing she had no idea about.

"Madam!"

Alfred’s voice once again pulled her out of her thoughts.

"Huh?" she asked, looking at him, her brows knitting in quiet confusion.

Alfred politely announced again, "We have arrived."

Arwen heard him and blinked once before turning to look out of the car’s window. And sure enough, the car seed to have pulled up long back. She was too caught up to realize.

"Thank you, Alfred," she said, turning back to the man at the driver’s seat. "You can retire for the day."

Alfred nodded, and she reached out to open the door to step out of the car. Getting down, she didn’t head straight inside; rather, she took a deep breath and stared at the luxurious mansion that had co to beco her ho. Her husband must be waiting for her inside.

She had finally gotten a perfect life that she could cherish for her whole life.

But for so reason, her past surfaced as a mystery, without solving which, she couldn’t enjoy her present and future at ease.

Why did it only happen to be now?

"Madam, is everything fine?" Mr. Jones’s voice ca from a distance, and she turned to look at him.

"Oh, there is nothing, Mr. Jones," she said, shaking her head at him, giving him a casual smile. "I just feel like the evening today is refreshing. The air feels more relaxing. So, I just stood here to feel it."

Mr. Jones smiled. He didn’t prompt in an imdiate tone, but after a few seconds, he said, "Madam, sir has been waiting for you."

"Oh, is he?" she asked, her expression shifting to better at the ntion of Aiden. "I expected him to be waiting for ," she said, already resuming to walk in. "By the way, Mr. Jones, did he take his ds on ti?"

The butler nodded, reporting, "Yes, madam. He did. He has rested well in the afternoon and only woke up when Mr. Emyr ca to get his signatures on so file."

Arwen nodded. This was exactly what she wanted —Aiden to have complete proper rest, so that he could recover well.

At Quinn’s Residence,

After finishing her work at the company, Catrin returned ho.

As her car pulled up at the front of the villa, she stepped down. She was about to head inside, but her steps paused midway.

At the sound of the engine, she turned to look in the direction of the entry gate, only to find a familiar car driving in.

The car pulled just behind hers, and soon after, Becca stepped out, pushing the door open for herself.
