Aiden turned to look, and his brows slightly furrowed.
However, Arwen didn't see the change in his expression. Looking at the file, she reached out to grab it.
However, just when her hand would have touched it, she heard Aiden say.
"Jason forgot it here. He left in quite a hurry."
Arwen paused and turned to look at him. "Dr. Clark?" she repeated, only to see him nod. Nodding back in understanding, she pulled back. "Then reading it wouldn't be good."
Aiden reached out to gently caress her hair. "It's fine. I will ask Emyr to send it back to him."
"Mhm-hm~" she humd with a tight smile before slightly dipping her head to dodge away his hand that had probably already ssed her hair. "Although I like it, I still fear you will ss them."
She pouted and he helped her neat it down again.
"Is it fine now?" he asked.
And she held his face in her hands before staring into his eyes to check. "Looks fine in your eyes."
Aiden hadn't expected her to treat him as a mirror. So, her action caught him off guard for a second, but when he saw her gaze twinkling with mischief, he couldn't help but smile.
Tapping her nose, he said, "Did you forget to notice ti? It's going to be past our dinner ti soon. If the al is not in your plan, we can stay here the entire night and have fun."
He said, already moving to take back the seat on his chair.
But Arwen tugged him back. "What? I ca to pick you up, and you want to stay here?"
Aiden arched his brows, and she tugged on his hand again. "Let's go. I want to see you sitting beside while I drive." With that, she pulled him to the door.
Aiden let her tow him along, but refused her, "You had your share of driving. Now I will drive."
Arwen paused only to turn and look back at him. "Why? Are you scared of my driving skills, or," her gaze narrowed in scrutiny, "is it your prestige that makes you refuse to sit in the passenger seat?"
He didn't answer her; rather simply asked, "What do you think?"
Well, she knew it was neither. He was simply protective of her, and that's why asking her to avoid it.
But not today?
She stepped a step closer and chinned up to stare at him. "I think …" her eyes trailing from his eyes and lingering for a brief mont on his lips before again gazing back at his orbs. "... you should let be your chauffeur. After all, not everyone gets this opportunity."
"If this is one in a lifeti opportunity, I wouldn't dare refuse it." He smiled before brushing away the stray strands of hair behind her ear. "Let's go."
Her eyes sparkled, and nodding, he once again held his hand, leading him towards the elevator.
Emyr saw them and rose from his chair. "Sir! Madam!"
"Mr. Ethan, it's ti for you to also call it a day. I will take your Sir with , while you also wrap up your work and leave."
Emyr nodded. "Should I ask Neil —"
"It won't be required," Arwen said, interrupting him. "He would be taking my car today. You can ask Neil to bring the car back to the estate."
She then led him to the elevator and stepped inside, and pressed the key to the parking.
When they reached down, as per the plan, Arwen took the driving seat and motioned Aiden towards the other side.
"Put on the seatbelt," he reminded.
And she couldn't help but purse her lips at him. "I know the basics of driving safely, husband. Trust , I won't get you killed," she chuckled before pulling the seatbelt to wear. "Co on, you don't want to put them on for you."
She ant the seatbelt, and her gaze gesturing towards it made it clear.
Aiden kept his gaze fixed on her while his hand moved to wear the seatbelt. Once it was on, she started the engine and drove out of the premises.
They were halfway through the distance when she heard her phone ring. Briefly glancing at her back, she asked, "It's in my bag. Can you fish it out?"
He nodded and soon retrieved the phone. Reading the na flashing on the screen, he said, "It's Mrs. Foster."
"Oh, I missed it. I should have called her." She had thought of giving Beca the call, but then, when she left the office, it almost slipped her mind. "Help put it on speaker."
Aiden did it, and soon Beca's voice ca through. "Arwen."
"Aunt Beca, I am so sorry. I should have called you, but then caught up in sothing I forgot," she truly felt guilty.
"Oh, it's fine, dear," Beca said in the sa understanding tone. "You have taken up new responsibilities. It's understandable that you are busy. You should instead complain that I am disturbing you."
"Definitely not," Arwen spoke almost imdiately. "To be honest, I am not that busy, Aunt Beca. I have already booked us a room for lunch tomorrow and was about to give you a call in the early evening, but it remained sohow."
"You booked?" Beca asked, and she heard Arwen hum.
"Yes, I did. At Yellow Orchids. I rember you liked the food there."
"You rembered it," Beca laughed on the other side of the call. "Even if I want, how can I stay mad at you? You have always been a good child."
"That's because you have always adored , Aunt Beca." A warm smile curled Arwen's lips, and she glanced at Aiden, who probably had been staring at her all this ti.
"Great, then," Beca said, continuing. "Let's et and talk tomorrow, then. I will get there and call you."
Arwen humd to her in response, and then soon after, the call was hung up.
Aiden kept the phone back in her bag.
She waited, but when nothing ca from him, she turned to him and asked, "Won't you ask anything?"
He looked like he had question.
