Arwen sat in her office, working. Although she hasn't had a busy, hectic schedule recently, there was still work that she couldn't put to rest.

But even so, amidst it all, she couldn't also stop her thoughts from drifting back to Aiden.

She didn't an to think much, but for so reason, again and again, his words, his attitude, the way he treats her —everything was making her think about it.

The way he seed to be blaming yesterday —who does that when one is barely even responsible for anything?

And the wedding gift?

Everything just felt overwhelming. No matter how she tried to understand, the emotions Aiden harbored for her seed to run deeper than what was visible at the front. Like, he deliberately kept himself restrained.

But why would he do that?

Why would he try to hide away from her? to hide away the reality from her?

Arwen paused in her thoughts again, trying to piece everything together. But once again, all she realized was the need of that one missing piece of the puzzle that held all her answers.

Where could she find it?

She was lost in her thoughts when the knock at her office door snapped her back into reality. She blinked and turned to look, finding Mia standing outside.

"Yes, Mia," she gave a small nod of permission. "Co in."

The secretary pushed the door open and stepped in. Her brows knitted in slight displeasure that she was trying to mask away, but terribly failing to do so.

Whenever Arwen saw Mia doing that, she could prevent her lips from curling. It only made the girl look innocent.

"Mia, what's wrong? Did sothing or soone upset you?"

Mia stared for a mont before shaking her head. "No, ma'am. It's soone who would upset you."

"Upset ?" Arwen arched her brows, montarily not understanding what she ant. "What does that an?"

Mia's expression only grew serious. "Ma'am, Mrs. Quinn is here," she said before adding, "And she wants to et you."

Catrin had wanted to charge straight inside, but Mia had held her outside, almost disrespecting her.

Arwen's expression changed instantly. Her brows tugged in a frown, and she asked, "You stopped her outside?"

"It was difficult to, but sohow, it got managed," Mia replied, understanding what Arwen ant in an instant. "Do you want to reject her request?"

She wanted to, but knowing the woman well, Arwen knew it wouldn't be possible to do that, especially when Catrin was already there.

"It would be even more difficult," she said, shaking her head at Mia. Then, jutting her chin towards the door, she motioned for her. "Let's not waste our energy on sothing we won't be able to stop. Let her in."

Mia was reluctant, but anyway, she nodded. "Okay, ma'am. I will ask them to send her in."

With that, she dialled the number on her phone and said a few words over the call.

Not long after, soone ca to escort Catrin to Arwen's office. As she entered, her eyes turned daggers, glaring at Mia coldly.

"Learn the basic etiquette before applying for a position for which you are not clearly suitable."

Mia's fingers curled, but she didn't talk back. Her position didn't allow.

"Mia is my secretary, Mrs. Quinn," Arwen's voice ca quiet, yet bold, carrying the clear authority she held. "You don't hold a position to teach her. So, the next ti you see her, kindly mind your position."

Catrin hadn't expected her to side with a re secretary in front of her. The mont she heard her, her anger beca evident on her face. "I don't stand a position?" she echoed. "Arwen, are you completely down the road to infuriate ?"

"I have no such hobby, Mrs. Quinn," Arwen replied nonchalantly. "But it seems like you do have a nature of self-assuming."

"You —"

"I have more important things to do." Before Catrin could spill the venom, Arwen interrupted, cutting her off smoothly. "Please get straight to the business you are here for. Don't waste both of our ti. Because I rember Mrs. Quinn's ti has always been very precious —not even a second is ant to be wasted."

Catrin gritted. She wanted to lash out at Arwen badly, but she also believed her ti was too precious to be wasted. Especially when she was here to ask her a few things.

Nodding to her, she stepped forward and pulled the chair for herself before sitting down across from Arwen. "Fine, let's not waste ti on arguing then." Her gaze darted to look back at Mia, who was still standing there. "Have you not learnt to leave, taking the situation cues?"

Her words were for Mia, who simply turned to look at Arwen for instruction.

Arwen gave her a nod, asking her to step out.

"Ma'am, I will be outside. Please let know if you need anything," Mia said, nodding back to her before turning to leave the room.

Once she was out, Arwen turned to look back at Catrin, who had her eyes fixed on her.

"So, Mrs. Quinn," she began, taking a deep breath to muster up the energy, "please tell . How can I help you?"

"Arwen, don't forget that although you have beco the CEO here, I am also not a nobody. I hold the shares here." Catrin didn't like the indifference, even though it wasn't her first ti facing it. "Dare not try to insult here."

Arwen stared at her, shaking her head. "Trust , I got no profit in that. And since I don't, I won't put my energy into it. Just tell what brought you here today." Her tone might be soft, but it still lacked the submissiveness that Catrin desired.

"I am here to ask you sothing," Catrin said, trying her best to lose her patience just yet. "Yesterday, whatever happened at Sky Luxe Mall, were you responsible for it? Did you do it intentionally?"

Of course. She had almost guessed it was for this.
