Arwen was in her car, driving to her office when she heard her phone beeping with a notification. Unlocking it, when she checked, a warm smile spread across her lips.
It was Aiden. He had sent her an image of his breakfast, quoting, "I won't lose the deal."
[Fighting!] She replied to him back before going back to click the image. The food looked fine.
"Good that he is finally getting serious about his als," she muttered, closing the chat. She checked the ti back on her watch and then asked, "Alfred, how long will it take?" She noticed that they weren't heading through the familiar road.
"Madam, there is so construction work going on our usual route, so I decided to take this route today. This will take ti but we won't get late," Alfred politely inford.
Arwen nodded.
They drove through the road, and while Arwen casually scrolled through her mails.
anwhile …
Back at Winslow Estate, after finishing breakfast, Gianna rushed back to her room.
One reason why she had to run was because she left her phone in the room itself, and without it, she wouldn't be able to make the call.
The mont she entered the room, she rushed towards the bed to grab her phone. Her fingers curled around the device as she glanced up with so thought before unlocking her phone and going straight to dial a number.
The call was connected imdiately and just after a few rings, it was also answered.
"Gina, sweetheart, you called?" a man spoke through the other end, and Gianna closed her eyes, feeling slightly guilty.
"Dad," she sighed. "I know I should have called you but I didn't get the ti. I —"
"It's okay, dear," he said, his voice as loving as Gianna had always rembered. "As long as I get to hear my princess's voice, I don't mind anything else. Tell , how everything is going? Did you have any plans of coming back ho?"
He asked, and even though Gianna felt a bit impatient, she held her calm and reciprocated her Dad as best as she could. She loved her father a lot. She can't bear to hurt him even the slightest.
"Although I want to see you badly, I might not be able to make a trip anyti soon," she said, adding, "I just returned to Cralens after spending more than an entire month on a workshop. There is a lot of work pending for to do."
"You don't have to work so hard, Gina," Osian said, her tone as serious as it could be. "Who am I working so hard for? It's of course for you. As long as Dad is around, you won't lack anything. You have enjoyed staying at ho and being our princess."
Gianna didn't seem at all surprised at those words. Instead, a smile curled up her lips. "Dad, you know I won't enjoy that life," she said, taking a deep breath. "I enjoy doing my own things. I have grown up enough to learn and discover my way of living the world. Going back ho and staying protected behind your shield will not make satisfied, you know right?"
"But Dad misses you, dear," Osian said, sounding truly like a weak father who was longing to see his daughter.
Gianna felt bad. Pressing her lips in a thin line, she said, "And I miss you too. Fine," she halted, her tone shifting more towards a determined version. "I will see if I can make a short trip ho."
"Great!" Osian's voice at once sounded better. "That's like my daughter!"
"But Dad," Gianna interrupted. "Even if I co ho, I won't stay there for long. It would be even probably less than a week. So, leather when I arrive, don't play any tricks. Okay?"
"Okay!" Her father affird, but she knew him well enough to know that a simple okay like that wouldn't guarantee anything.
"I am serious, Dad," she said.
Osian chuckled as if reading the warning beneath his daughters's words. "I miss you a lot, Gina. Co ho, soon."
With that, he was about to disconnect when Gianna halted him. "Wait, Dad!" she spoke in haste. "Did you forget that's Mom's phone? I dialled in to discuss sothing important to her. Can you pass her the phone?"
"Oh," Osian said but then quickly added, "But your mother is in the washroom. I will ask her to call you back when she cos out."
Gianna sighed and was about to hum and say that she would call later when he spoke again.
"Your mother is out," he said. "Wait, I will pass the phone to her."
She heard a slight shuffle on the other side and soon after heard her mother's voice through the line.
"Gia!"
"Mom," Gianna reciprocated, continuing, "I have sothing to ask you. Can you please tell honestly?"
"What are you saying, Gia?" Efa chided softly. "When have I lied to you?"
"You didn't, Mom. But I said so that this doesn't end up being your first ti."
"Gia!"
"Mom, this kind of important," Gianna said, impatience laced in her voice. "I am confused already and I don't want my confusion to deepen any further so …"
"Fine, ask ," Efa relented, asking, "What is it that you want to know? Don't tell it's again about your Uncle."
"It is!" she admitted.
"Gia, you —"
"Mom, when did Uncle plan to co to Cralens?" Before her mother could chide her more, Gianna blurted out. "I am not stirring any trouble. I just want to know one simple thing, Mom. When did he decide to co to Cralens? Didn't you say that he was still considering it when we last talked about his return?"
Efa seed to have paused on the other end of the call.
When Gianna didn't hear her speaking for a while, she asked again. "Mom?"
"Yes," Efa replied. "At that ti, I think he was still considering. I just heard it from your grandmother. I am not very sure. But that's how it should be. I an he would have taken the ti to settle things in New York before actually shifting to Cralens."
As Gianna heard her mother say that, her brows furrowed.
If her uncle has truly ca later, then how was he there to save Arwen that day …
