Aiden was on the call with Jason. When he heard the door of his office opening, he presud Emyr had entered. However, seeing Arwen sitting there with her brows furrowed at him, he couldn't help but be slightly stunned.

"When did you co?" he asked, already getting up to walk to her.

Arwen shook her head and simply replied, "Right when you were very busy on the call. I ca in and didn't feel it right to disturb you." She paused briefly before repeating her question from before. "Over the call, you sounded like you were looking for soone. Who are you looking for?"

Aiden's expression shifted. His brows that have just eased monts ago seeing her, furrowed again. He didn't answer her, instead walked her side before sitting on the sa couch beside her.

Then turning to look at her, he said, "Soone who dared to harm in a way I would never tolerate."

"Harm you?" Arwen repeated, before letting her gaze scan him head to toe. "Are you hurt sowhere? Did you go to the hospital?" She asked, already grabbing his hand, ready to leave at once.

But before she could tug him up, he pulled her in his arms, making her crash into his embrace.

"I am not hurt," he said gently, the voice rumbling through his chest, making Arwen calm instantly. She, herself, hadn't realized how panicked she had gotten just at the ntion of him getting hard.

His hands slowly caressed her back, helping her ease. "There is no need to go to the hospital. I am fine. Nothing happened to ."

Arwen heard his heartbeat close to her ears and it worked like a tranquilizer. "You are fine?" she asked to confirm, pulling away from his arms to look into his eyes.

Aiden nodded. At which, she then asked, "Then why did you say that soone hard you?"

"They hard ten years back and I didn't realize it until recently," he slowly said, his eyes darkening with an emotion that could make anyone dread and flinch, yet Arwen was sitting all fine, her eyes not showing any hint of fear. "And now that I have co to know about it, I can't let them slide away unhard. They would have to take the consequence of their actions from the past."

"Does it still hurt?" she asked. She didn't know what pain in the past he suffered, but there was no way she would let him endure the sa pain now with her by his side.

Aiden could read her eyes. And when he saw her affected, he shook his head. "It does sotis, but with you in my life, it has gotten bearable. It doesn't hurt as much as before."

She felt he was comforting her, otherwise, there was no way the pain from the past could still be seen so obvious in his eyes. But since he said that she had made it bearable for him, she decided to accept it as a responsibility.

Cupping his cheek, she said, "Then whenever you feel the pain, rember to let know. I will make sure to be with you."

Her words made the ti slow down for them. They stared into each other's eyes and let each other feel each other's presence. After a brief while, Arwen realized what she was there for, and she acted quickly.

Breaking the gaze, she shifted a little to create distance between them. Then looking at the lunch box she had brought, she said, "Oh yes, I am here for a purpose and you almost made forget it," she said, and Aiden raised a brow at her words.

"Purpose?" he asked.

Arwen nodded, gesturing him to look at the coffee table. "Yes, a purpose. A purpose to make you complete the al that you decided to skip earlier."

"Moon, I —"

"I prepared it and then brought it here myself, are you sure you want to reject and my efforts?" Before he could say anything, Arwen interjected and spoke. Her words carried a sweet warning of a little wife and a whine of a girlfriend. "It took a while to prepare it all. Think before you decide."

"I wouldn't dare to reject my wife," he said, and Arwen's lips curled at the corners instantly.

"A good choice," she said as she reached to serve him the dishes. "Actually, I have guessed it and luckily you didn't fail ."

"I would never," he mumbled but she heard. Smiling, she nodded.

"I know and that's why I had gotten confident about it."

Aiden smirked proudly. His gaze then darted to look down at the plate, his eyes studying each and every dish. "I thought you didn't know to cook."

Arwen's hand that was spooning a portion of salad for him halted for a second. Of course, he would think that because the last ti she told him she didn't know anything in the kitchen. He should have believed it.

Humming, she nodded, "I rember I told you that. At that ti, I wasn't confident," she said and turned to hand him the plate. "But today, I thought why not let you give it a try and tell again? A second opinion."

She gestured him towards the plate. "It should at least be bearable. If isn't then take it as a punishnt for returning the good cooking of our chefs."

Aiden glanced at her before glancing down at the plate. He took it and then slowly took a bite before reaching for another.

All the while, he could feel Arwen's nervous gaze at himself. And he truly wanted to punch the person who ever made her think that her cooking wasn't great enough to lt hearts.

"How is it?" Arwen asked when even after completing half of the plate, Aiden said nothing. "If it's not up to your choice, you can always tell . I will try to make it better next ti to suit your preferences."

Aiden's movents halted as he looked up at her. "There is no need for that," he said and she blinked at him, a little confused.

Was it that bad that he wouldn't want her to make the next ti?
