Arwen's hands remained in mid-air, holding the chocolate while she blinked at Aiden, who stood by the door, staring at her as if he had caught her red-handed.
Even though Arwen was not guilty, under his gaze like that, she felt like she was caught stealing.
"What?" she asked, defensive. "Why are you looking at like that?"
Aiden raised his brow at his defensive tone. His eyes slowly darted to her hands before zeroing in on the chocolate. "What are you having?" he asked.
"Chocolate," she said, not holding any breath of hesitation. "And I didn't steal it. So don't look at like that."
Aiden walked in, taking his steps to her side. Reaching her, his eyes settled on the familiar golden box of chocolates that he had seen at Granna's place. 'Of course, you are not stealing,' he muttered under his breath and Arwen grunted, clearing her throat again.
"Of course," she said, before looking the box on her lap. "I got this from Granna, rember."
He nodded. But his brows soon tugged in a frown. "But why are you having it now? Didn't you just complete your breakfast?"
"I did," she replied but then reasoned. "But who said I can't have chocolate after having breakfast? I like these very much and it's almost a ritual to have them every day."
It was then Aiden noticed sothing. He calculated the days in mind and exactly the count of the chocolate matched his calculation. She had been having one every day.
"Ritual?" Aiden asked, bringing his gaze back to her face. This ti a bit amused at her choice of words.
But Arwen seed very sure of her words. She didn't hold it any longer and put the chocolate in her mouth in one go. Letting the familiar flavor hit her senses, she humd in delight, nodding. "Yes," she began. "It has beco a ritual over the years. I will always begin my day with this, having one just after breakfast." As she said that, a warm smile settled on her lips.
Aiden stared at her, srized. At that mont, he caught the glimpse of the little Arwen that he always had in his mories, vivid and clear. "Are they so good?" she asked, before sitting on the bed across from her.
"These chocolates?" Arwen asked as if to confirm it once with him. And when she saw him nodding, she nodded with confidence. "Of course, they are the best. Every year Granna bring these. One big stock for the whole year. If she isn't coming, she will send these through soone. But I will be having them always."
Aiden nodded as his gaze once again went back to the box, thinking sothing.
However, when Arwen saw him eyeing it, she quickly hid it away. "Don't even think that, Mr. Winslow," she said. "Even though I have a lot, I am not going to share it with you. They are my favorites and I am very stingy when it cos to these. So, please don't ask for them."
Aiden held back his laugh but raised his hand and flicked her forehead. "Who is asking for your chocolates? I know how stingy you can get when it cos to these little things. So, I am not up for this fight."
"Really?" she asked, narrowing her gaze slightly.
And Aiden stared at her as if he couldn't believe it. "What do you think?"
"Well," Arwen shrugged. "You were just eyeing them, so I thought —"
Before she could say, Aiden interjected her saying, "I wasn't eyeing them. I was just looking at them so that once your stock gets over then I can help you refill it."
Just as he completed his words, Arwen stuffed the box in his hand and urged quickly, "Then look at it freely. Who is stopping you?"
Aiden shook his head at her before taking the box in his hand and reading the details. Once done, he said, "I know this brand," he said and then added, "I will get them for you once you complete it all."
"Really?" she asked with a delightful surprise. "That's good. Anyway, Granna said this was the last ti she had brought these. For the next ti, I have to trouble you."
"It's not a trouble," he said, adding, "Let know when before they get over and I will ask soone to ship a batch to you." Although he said that, a subtle hint of suspicion remained in his eyes.
While he remained in his thoughts for a while, Arwen was reminded of sothing. Her pupils dilated slightly as her hand held his. "Why are you still here?" she asked, blinking at him with so seriousness. But when she saw Aiden confused at her words, she quickly added to remind, "Didn't you have a eting with Tanner Group?"
"I still have the eting," he replied, before checking his watch. "And I ca back to the room to change."
"Then go and change," Arwen already pushed him gently to make him get back to his feet. "I have already helped to pick out another set," she said and then pointed him to look at the set of clothes, she has kept ready there.
Aiden nodded and then moved to make the change. Once ready, he stepped out ready to leave. Adjusting his cuffs, he said, "I might get a bit late today. Don't wait for ."
Arwen nodded as if she accepted his words. But just when he turned to leave, she said from behind. "I will wait for you. Don't be late, husband."
He paused in his steps and then turned to look at her. To which she smiled and added, "Don't look at like that and make it look like I am doing sothing you wouldn't do. I am just acting right and I will be happy if you appreciate it as much as I do."
She then walked up to him and helped him adjust the collar of his shirt. "Husband, I will wait for you, no matter how late you are because I know you will co back to for sure."
