Chapter 83: Investigate her background
"Valen, I don’t have ti for your silly gas, leave before I ask my n to show you to the gates." Lord Edmund remarked sternly. It wasn’t a surprising fact that his stepson wasn’t welco to his business, as Valen was considered an embarrassnt to the Santino and Credan’s reputation in Birhhan. Nobody took him seriously due to his gambling habits and whoring around the lands.
Valen’s lips pulled up, "Father relax, I’m not here to disturb your business, I ca here for a good reason today."
Lord Edmund raised an eyebrow in question, "What reason is that?"
Valen let out a sigh and said, "I visited the palace to greet everyone, but unfortunately, I overheard so distressing news. As a result, the Emperor instructed
to deliver this ssage to you."
He casually continued, "Apparently, the last princess of the east dragon clan has gone missing, and the king of the clan dispatched powerful spies to investigate Birhhan. As you know, these creatures of the clan are extrely guarded when it cos to their bloodlines. Therefore, the Emperor is concerned and hopes that you have not co into contact with any royal creature from the east clan. He sent
to verify this with you."
Lord Edmund’s cold expression imdiately shattered on hearing that news. Although the Emperor had permitted them to kill and capture the outcast creatures, he hadn’t permitted the fire controllers to touch any of the royal dragons from the east clan as they rarely even left their realm to step into the human borders.
Nevertheless, the majority of the dragons that were captured and slain belonged to the Draconia clan, of which was ruled by Draven decades ago. But with the realm destroyed and without his presence, the Draconia clan was now rging with the east clan, because without a ruler, the ice and snow lose its strength, so does the dragon powers reduced.
Valen continued,"Father, the east dragon king’s spies are still secretly searching Birhhan, and the Emperor is worried, I hope you haven’t ssed with any royal dragons from that clan?"
Lord Edmund’s usual composed face looked slightly panicked, but then he composed himself and said, "I will go and et the Emperor myself." He turned to his guards and ordered, "Kill all those creatures in the cell, we have no use for them."
Before Rhea or Draven could speak, Valen spoke up. "Father, there’s no need for you to burden yourself with those insignificant creatures. Since sister Alina is away, allow
to demonstrate my worth by eliminating those creatures. Besides, I could use so amusent, so I’d like to have them in my manor since you’ve already taken what you needed from them." His words carried a nonchalant tone, as if he were rely toying with the idea. "I’ve heard dragon females are quite an enjoyable company, so let
have my fun before disposing of them for you."
Lord Edmund didn’t see anything wrong with the idea of giving away the creatures to his stepson, after all they’d already gotten what they wanted from them. "Do whatever you want with them, just don’t co back here again."
Valen grinned, before bowing, "Sure, I won’t step in here again unless you call for . I’ll take my leave then, don’t forget to tell your n to send the creatures to my manor." Saying that, he turned around and began to walk away.
Rhea glanced at Valen’s retreating figure. They’d been found out by Lord Edmund before they could get to the powers, thus it would be best if they took this opportunity to follow behind Valen. He seed like a smart person, if they could talk to him, perhaps he’d help them next ti. She gently tugged at Draven’s sleeve, hinting for him to slowly follow behind Valen.
However, just as they were about to take a step forward, Lord Edmund’s eyes snapped towards them, "Where do you think you are going?"
Valen, who had been walking ahead halted and turned towards his stepfather, "I’m going back to my manor, do you have a problem with
leaving again?" He questioned with furrowed brows.
"I wasn’t speaking to you, Valen. These two criminals stole two passing cards from soone and dared enter my territory, I have to punish them."
Valen walked back towards Rhea and causally slipped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. Rhea stiffened and quickly tried to pull away, but he tugged even closer as if warning her to play along and stay still. "Father, how could such a lovely lady steal so useless passing cards? It’s not good to accuse innocent people without any proof."
Rhea also played along and nodded her head, "Yes, we’re innocent. We didn’t steal those cards, it was given to us."
Valen flashed his stepfather a smile, "Father, did you hear her? She didn’t steal them."
Lord Edmund snorted coldly, "You must be out of your mind, Valen to try to defend a criminal."
"? I’m perfectly in my mind, father." He deadpanned, then causally pulled the passing cards out of Rhea and Draven’s hands before turning to face his angry stepfather, "Look, it’s just so stupid cards, you’re making a fuss out of nothing. Just let
take this lady with , she’s too pretty to face your flas."
"You seem to care for their lives, do you know them before, or perhaps are you involved with them?" Lord Edmund asked suspiciously.
Valen chuckled in amusent, "Oh father, you know I can’t resist beautiful won, like this one here." He mused, then provokingly pinched Rhea’s cheeks, "She’s so my type, and adorable. So can you let
take her as well?"
Rhea stayed stiff in his grip. But she cursed internally. Damn it! If she hadn’t been bound to Draven by the core or potion, she’d have fallen for this hunk right here. His voice alone was enough to make a girl’s heart leap away from their chest.
Nevertheless, as all these was going on, no one noticed Draven’s tightly clenched jaw as he murderously stared at the arm Valen put around Rhea’s waist. He also watched as the shaless Rhea slipped her arm around his waist. A thought subconsciously crossed his mind at that mont. Didn’t she say the potion hadn’t worn out of her body yet? And didn’t she also say with the effect of the potion, he was the most pretty and alluring to her?
But here she was...
Lord Edmund was aware of his stepson’s reputation with won. Furthermore, he didn’t have ti to waste with him as he had to et the Emperor, thus, he waved his hand, "Get out of my sight. He dismissed them.
The three quickly left before the man changed his mind again. However, the mont they left, Lord Edmund’s right hand man walked forward, "My lord, do you really want to give him those creatures?"
"Yes, there’s no need to worry over them. Alina had already given orders to get rid of them, so let Valen do the job, and if he isn’t being careful, he’ll end up being killed by them as he possesses no powers. That would save
the trouble of doing it myself." He smirked, those creatures might seem weak to the fire controllers, but for a normal human, they were beyond powerful than anyone could imagine even without their dragon form.
Lord Edmund continued, "Let Valen be for now, as for those two, investigate how they got those cards, especially that girl, thoroughly investigate her background and where she ca from."
The man bowed, "Understood, my Lord."
