Chapter 31: Facing the consequences

With a thunderous sound, Rhea collapsed onto the stony ground, her head hitting it hard, but the agony in her lower chest, where Draven had stabbed her, was even more intense than the pain in her head. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, as she lay there betrayed by the vile Dragon.

As the crimson liquid seeped out, it filled the cave with its acrid scent. Clutching her lower chest with a trembling hand, Rhea tried to stop the flow, but to no avail. Through the murkiness of her fading vision, she could observe the puddle of blood forming beneath her.

Rhea gritted her teeth and cursed, "Damn you!" She couldn’t believe he had stabbed her without any warning. What had she ever done to offend this vile Dragon? Rhea shook her head in disbelief and laughed bitterly at her naivety. It was foolish of her to ever trust such a creature. The ancient book’s contents were accurate; dragons were untrustworthy creatures who should never be relied upon. They were better off in the fiery pits of hell.

Draven’s voice was flat as he said, "I’ve told you, you’re not going to like it, but yet you got too curious. Curiosity is dangerous."

Rhea scoffed, so now it was her fault for wanting to hear the story from his point of view?

Rhea managed to force herself to speak despite the blood choking her throat, "What...did I do wrong to be stabbed?...I didn’t even expose your identity to anyone in Birhhan. I kept your secret..." Rhea drew a sharp breath and continued to say, "You’ve planned this all along...If I die here today, mark my words, I, Rheanna Villden will hunt you until I see to your end!"

"Relax and try to take a deep breath, you won’t die. I have no intentions of taking your life." He remarked nonchalantly as if he hadn’t just stabbed her a mont ago.

Rhea couldn’t help but laugh darkly. She’d agreed to help him through the barrier to retrieve his essence to cure Rinus. She was even kind enough to want to hear his story, Rhea had even thought she’d experienced him getting betrayed by Alina, but it turned out the dragon had his own intentions all along. And when he got his chance, he stabbed her without rcy, yet he still had the balls to say he had no intentions of taking her life?

A joke! Then when the idiot stabbed her like that was he intending to take money if not her life?

Who was he kidding? Wasn’t it already obvious that he wanted to use her dead body to free so evil sealed in the cave or else why would he stab her?

Rhea didn’t have much strength to speak again, thus she just lay there on the ground waiting for her death while silently cursing at Draven in her mind. She would hunt him as a ghost and finish Alina’s unfinished business!

As Rhea was fuming with rage, she suddenly heard a weird sound from the dragon’s direction. She turned her head towards him wondering what the bastard was up to, but then she heard him murmuring sothing under his breath.

Rhea frowned. At first she thought he was making those murmuring sounds to annoy her already dying self. However, she gradually realized his murmuring had a rhythm, like he was murmuring a spell.

With fists tightly clenched, Rhea focused her efforts on deciphering his intentions. Could it be possible that he was planning to offer her as a sacrifice to unleash a malevolent force? She couldn’t quite grasp the aning of his words, but the fact that he had been muttering a spell for such an extended period of ti was a sign of its significance.

But wait a mont...why on earth wasn’t she dying yet? Rhea thought as she realized the pain in her lower chest was gradually fading away for so reason.

This Dragon had ssed with the wrong person. He had betrayed the little trust she had in him, and because he’d went as far as to stab her, she’d ruin his plans as well.

Rhea raised her hand to summon her ice spikes, however upon her attempt to conjure her ice spikes, sothing unexpected happened. A peculiar warmth arose from within her, causing her to pause abruptly. It was an unusual sensation for her, quite different from the frigid flurry associated with her usual ability. As it progressed gradually towards her fingertip, a tiny spark of red fla erged.

Rhea’s astonishnt was beyond words, as her eyes rounded to reflect this bizarre feeling. How was this possible? Unlike her family, she wasn’t born with fla magic. Instead, she possessed a gift for summoning ice spikes. And yet, suddenly, there it was, a small spark emanating from her fingertip.

Rhea pondered whether her sudden surge of fla magic was because she was dying. Placing her hand on her lower chest, she was taken aback to find that the deep wound from the stabbing had unexpectedly healed and closed, as if it had never even occurred. This realization caused her eyes to widen in surprise once again.

Wasn’t she waiting to die? How was this possible?! If not for the pool of blood beneath her body, Rhea would have thought the stabbing was an illusion!

Rhea steadied her emotions and remained calm. Does this an she also had fla magic just like all of the Villden family? For all these years she’d been seen as a bad luck and a disgrace for not possessing any fla, but it turned out it was in her all this while.

Rhea snapped her head towards Draven’s direction. How on earth did he knew she wouldn’t die by being stabbed?

Well, that doesn’t matter she had to pay him back for stabbing her. Rhea grinned, ’Oh dragon, i will make sure i use you hair as a mop today!’

Upon rising, Rhea noticed the absence of Draven’s irritating murmuring. Furthermore, her vision had remarkably sharpened to the extent that she could clearly see in the complete darkness. As she observed, with Draven’s dagger in hand, he sliced his palm, letting his blood drop down onto the earth, causing his blood to rge with hers on the ground.

Imdiately, a flash was triggered and the ground produced an intense white light. Gazing at the glowing light in sheer amazent, Rhea observed as Draven forcibly slamd his fist onto the ground.

"With the power imbued within , I dictate your return!" The utterance of these words triggered an even brighter radiance from the combined blood, causing the light to flow alongside it like a cascading stream and mold into a physical form upon the ground.

What the hell was he trying to do? Was he trying to summon sothing evil?

With that thought, Rhea didn’t even hesitate again, she leapt towards Draven, but as if he had eyes on his back, he didn’t even turn his head but swiftly sidestep her. However, that was his mistake, Rhea wasn’t after him, her aim was to touch the wall he’d warned her not to touch earlier.

When Draven dodged her, she leapt towards the wall and slamd her palms on them. With a bang sound, the flowing light suddenly stopped, and began to lose it glow.

Draven’s pupils which were illuminated by the bright light, shrank.

With hands on the waist, Rhea heaved for breath, "Hell and damnation, you’ve crossed the lines dragon. If you betray soone, karma will hit you double. Today you dared to stab

when all I did was help you. And today you will pay the price of your betrayal!"

As the light went off, the cave suddenly started to tremble, the ground began to split. The cave quaked and rocks slowly began to rain down from the walls.

With cold, dark eyes fixed on Rhea, Draven spoke in a low voice fraught with anger. "What the hell have you done?!" His veins bulged and his teeth ground together. "I warned you not to touch the damn wall, yet you’ve ruined all my efforts. I should have killed you when I had the chance!" His fury was palpable, suffusing the air in the cave in an instant.

But Rhea didn’t flinch. Instead, she t Draven’s gaze with equal intensity. "Ha! What a sha. You missed your chance to kill , and now it’s my turn." She rolled up her sleeves, preparing for the battle. "Let’s see who’s left standing at the end of the day."
