Luo Yongfei’s smile froze on his face, like cent that’s been mixed well and splashed on a red wall, gradually hardening.

He sized up Guan Yongyi, who was holding the man’s arm, and his eyes involuntarily narrowed slightly, focusing on Lu Jincheng.

Boyfriend?

Guan Yongyi had found a boyfriend so quickly?

When did this happen?

Wasn’t she not interested in dating for the ti being?

Luo Yongfei clenched his fists under the table, a naless fire rising in his heart, feeling sowhat angry.

But he didn’t intervene, silently staring at the back of the two as they intimately walked away, his lower lip bitten to the point of turning white.

Not until the sounds of playful banter faded at the end of the corridor did he lift his phone and dial a number.

...

"People were polite enough to invite us to eat, and they spoke quite tactfully. How could you be so direct?"

Turning a corner, Lu Jincheng couldn’t help asking with a laugh.

He hadn’t expected his role as a shield to co into play at all, and Guan Yongyi, not caring in the slightest, had briskly extinguished Luo Yongfei’s budding interest.

What was she doing?

Was she even more unreasonable than him?

"What’s wrong?"

"Do you always reject suitors so bluntly?"

"Otherwise, what?"

"Be careful, so people might turn from love to hate and seek vengeance when their love is unrequited."

Lu Jincheng slowed his pace, turned his head to stare at the girl’s profile, and spoke earnestly.

An adult’s world values leaving room for maneuver, so that it’s easier to et with others in the future.

Whether for eting again or reminiscing, it’s best not to speak too harshly—what if the other party is an extremist?

Having seen more than a few strange things, one should act with at least so consideration.

"Why should I bother with all that?"

Guan Yongyi shook his hand vigorously, curling her lips and speaking in a light-hearted tone.

"The most important thing for is to cherish every mont I spend with you."

"I don’t want to waste my attention on soone else."

"Besides, if he harbors any other intentions, don’t I still have you?"

"That’s true."

Lu Jincheng nodded, and the two of them walked out of the academic building side by side.

When the enemy cos, we shall block; when water cos, we shall cover with dirt.

As soone fearless of both heaven and earth, Lu truly didn’t concern himself much with Luo Yongfei’s diocre skills.

In fact, after having a few classes together, Lu, with just a few words, already had completely figured out Luo Yongfei’s personality.

Many things require proper timing, and he wouldn’t blatantly compete with him for a girlfriend.

In this era, the brainless and arrogant rich second-generations who openly trample others and those spoiled and ostentatious idiots are not as common as such typical antagonists once were.

"My dad is ’X Gang’"—this traffic incident happened four years ago.

The incident of the singer’s son took place just last year.

Confronted with such vivid examples of failure, families with a little influence sounded the alarm.

They were quick to step up the education of their wayward children, taking these incidents as warnings.

Luo Yongfei was a product of such family upbringing.

He wasn’t a rash and foolish second-generation idiot, nor would he tear his face off with Lu Jincheng without forethought.

If he were to make a move on soone, it would be with a facade of amiability while resorting to all asures behind the scenes.

It was the craft his parents learned from years of imrsing themselves in social interplay, taught both by word and by example.

"Are you free later? No pressing matters?"

The two strolled through the campus, Guan Yongyi stepping on the yellowing leaves, her progress uneven, clearly not ready to part.

Having lunched with him, spent the afternoon with him after classes, she still longed to be with him.

Perhaps this was the nature of being in love, always wanting to stick close, thinking of him, not willing to be apart for even a mont.

"Mmm... no."

"I feel like eating chestnuts. Would you accompany to Beiyuan?"

Guan Yongyi tugged on Lu Jincheng’s sleeve, her bright eyes shining with anticipation, her face full of smiles.

The setting sun illuminated her near-perfect jawline, and the short-haired girl lifted her head, the light kissing her cheek.

"Sure."

They weaved through the deserted paths, nearing the finance departnt dorms, and imdiately separated, maintaining the distance typical of friends.

Once they stepped out of the school gates, moving beyond a certain range, Guan Yongyi moved closer again, her small hand capturing his large one.

Fingers interlocked, they leaned on each other.

"I want a bigger one."

Beiyuan was a magically bustling place all year round.

Along the way, boilers were sizzling with chestnuts that had split open, roadside osmanthus trees were dotted with little flowers, piping hot roasted sweet potatoes were cracked open and wafting with aroma, fruit shops were piled with fresh and juicy yellow pears, and by the dim street lamps, book vendors were quietly packing up.

"You have such a small appetite; can you finish it if we get a large one?"

"What does it matter if I can’t finish it? I have a boyfriend to help eat!"

Guan Yongyi held a roasted sweet potato, blowing on it, her eyes curving, her body language exuding indescribable happiness.

She used a small spoon to carefully scoop up a bit, blew on it twice, then turned to glance at Lu Jincheng.

"You can have the first bite."

"Oh."

He fed the spoon to himself, pausing briefly in the air, then took small bites, his eyes contentedly narrowed.

"Is it sweet?"

"Try it yourself!"

Guan Yongyi scooped up a small piece for him and fed it into his mouth.

Truly sweet.

The two rrily strolled down the pedestrian street for a while when Guan Yongyi’s phone suddenly vibrated. She checked it and her lips instantly pouted.

"What’s wrong?"

"Si si is asking if we’re done. She wants to co and bring sothing, a package I left with her has arrived."

"Eh? What package did you leave with her?"

Lu Jincheng asked casually.

"Oh, it’s nothing."

Guan Yongyi blinked rapidly and swiftly changed the subject: "Alright, should I ask her to co over?"

"Sure, no problem with ."
