Shuguang Garden was small and exquisite.

The complex wasn’t far from Nanhu University, situated higher than the ordinary streets, with steep sections solidified by cent, offering peace of mind during the plum rain season.

The houses here were widely spaced, with lush green belts in between, creating excellent natural barriers. The car lanes were severed by dense garden bushes, allowing only the rooftops, barely visible through the lush greenery, to be seen from the second floor.

Lu Jincheng found the chat history with Guo Minjie, building 8, bypassing the verdant surroundings, and went straight through the unit’s door, his fingers curved.

Thump, thump, thump.

"Teacher Guo, congratulations on your new ho, wishing you a full and satisfying life!"

The door opened and then closed tightly, plunging the common area into darkness and quietness.

...

"Have you been drinking?"

Guo Minjie bent down, took out a pair of gray slippers that were obviously two sizes too big, and threw them near him, frowning.

In front of her, Lu Jincheng was holding a bag. Although he wasn’t very close, she could still sll the faint scent of alcohol on him.

"Yes, I had a social event tonight."

She pushed the door and entered, the stunning entryway with its wine-red shoe cabinet was extrely striking, complented by the patterned tiles on the floor, bringing a vintage Chinese vibe to the fore.

At a glance, there was a fragrance bottle on the cabinet, making the whole ho fragrant from the entryway inward.

Indeed, it was the counselor’s consistent style.

Lu Jincheng placed the bag in the corner, changed his shoes, and turned around with a beaming smile, taking in Guo Minjie and her new ho.

"Cut back on using such greasy words at your young age."

"A little drink to cheer up, alright? I’m not drunk."

Though his gaze was direct, Mr. Lu wasn’t truly intoxicated.

It was rely the counselor’s beauty that was intoxicating.

Perhaps it was because she was at ho; Guo Minjie’s black hair wasn’t traditionally pinned up. She wore a set of long-sleeved silk pajamas embroidered with exquisite peony knots gently resting on her shoulders, the smooth and rounded lines were heart-stirring, her breathing reflecting a slightly mature charm unique to won.

So won are just like that, despite dressing conservatively, their figures can’t be concealed, and a glance their way revealed both color and sentint.

"Have so yogurt."

Guo Minjie, in her slippers, walked to the fridge located at the junction of the living room and kitchen, took out a carton of yogurt, and handed it to Lu Jincheng.

"Thank you~ Teacher Guo is so thoughtful."

Lu Jincheng raised his eyebrows, his face mischievous, deliberately elongating his tone.

His unabashed gaze finally earned him an eye-roll from the counselor.

Long-sleeved pants and pajamas could prevent wolfish behavior, but of course, no one would wear shoes and socks at ho without reason.

Therefore, Mr. Lu could still enjoy the imagined scenery.

The young woman turned around, walked, straightened her back, and raised her arms. With every movent, she displayed subtly enticing curves.

On her smooth wrists, the whiteness of her skin and the blue of her veins blended seamlessly, her plump calves and feet slightly blushing under the shifting gaze.

Ankles, arches, toes, each was as if masterfully sculpted, intricate and curled.

The man tilted back his neck, gulping down the yogurt in big swigs. It didn’t take thirty seconds before the carton was empty.

"Is this a three-bedroom place?"

"Yes, it’s just a bit extravagant for one person, so I tweaked the layout a bit."

Guo Minjie nodded. As a female university teacher within the system, her main appeal was being independent and fashionable.

She had only moved in recently, yet she had decorated her ho elegantly and artistically, as if to prove to the world that a single person’s life could be just as refined.

A standard three-bedroom, but unnecessary for her, so she simply kept the two southern bedrooms and transford the northern bedroom into a large dressing room for her clothes.

The entryway and main bathroom were also slightly modified to better suit her regular living habits.

"You really have taste. Why go into literature instead of design?"

Lu Jincheng wondered, walking around curiously.

Across from the dining area was a sunset lamp. Once turned on, the room was bathed in a glow akin to the evening sun, the light gentle and warm.

The indoors and outdoors at dusk seed to rge, the ho was quiet and beautiful without the noise of cars honking or people passing by.

"You make it sound easy. Why not eat minced at."

Guo Minjie pursed her lips, arms crossed, sitting in the armchair,

The living room was laid-back and composed. Although there was a leather master sofa, she preferred this armchair.

It was both retro and cozy, perfectly comfortable to curl up in.

Most importantly, it allowed her to maintain a safe distance from Lu Jincheng at all tis.

"I think in life, doing what you love is the most important thing, don’t you think?"

Lu Jincheng sat quietly in the sofa, like a regular friend, chatting with Guo Minjie about ho and everything under the sun.

The night was long, still early.

No rush.

Nobody needed to rush.

"There are tasks to be done at different stages in life, you can’t be so willful."

"Co on, who gets to decide what needs to be done? Getting a house, a spouse, and kids?"

"Right now, you should focus on studying well and not go out drinking and ssing around, that’s what you should be doing."

Pricked by the overt and subtle implications, Guo Minjie pinched her fingers, her smile instantly flattening as her lips pressed together.

The conversation left the teacher with no high ground.

Indeed, nearing thirty, she had realized this truth: life has no strict boundaries or set rules.

Do what you want to do, and in the end, if you don’t regret your choices, you have lived a worthwhile life.
