"Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday to you~"

"Happy~ Birthday~ to you!"

The lights in the room turned off, candles lit, and the background music started.

Zhou Sinin and Lu Jincheng clapped their hands in rhythm as the birthday song lodiously played.

"Guan Guan, you’re nineteen now, make a wish!"

Even with just the candlelight, one could still clearly see the short-haired girl’s bright, sparkling eyes.

She nodded, leaning forward, took a deep breath, her chest high, hands together, and her lips softly moved as if whispering sothing.

Then, she pursed her lips tightly closed.

Whoo~~~

The candles were blown out, and the wish-making was over.

"Alright, let’s eat so cake!"

Guan Yongyi turned the lights back on, a faint smile playing on her lips.

"Baby, what did you just wish for?"

Zhou Sinin playfully leaned in, asking the sa question she did every year.

"I won’t tell you."

Guan Yongyi pursed her lips as she sliced deep into the cake, gently exerting pressure.

It was her nineteenth birthday, and also her first one after her coming-of-age celebration.

Friends were there, and so were her best friends, all singing the birthday song together in a lively atmosphere.

This atmosphere made her happier than any other birthday celebration she had ever had.

She would never forget this day.

"What ti did you go to sleep last night?"

Guan Yongyi first cut a small piece of cake for her best friend, then a larger piece for Lu Jincheng.

She couldn’t stop thinking about the fireworks that were set off on ti under her window last night.

But given her nature, she wouldn’t ask directly and could only probe.

"Pretty late, I was busy with so important stuff last night."

Lu Jincheng smiled and did not answer directly.

"Did you, by any chance..."

Guan Yongi blinked her eyes, just about to continue her inquiry.

"Hey!"

At that mont, Zhou Sinin, with a piece of cream in hand, tiptoed behind her and sared it on one side of her face.

"Zhou Sinin!!!"

Guan Yongyi felt a cold sensation on her face, and her makeup, which had taken her over an hour to perfect, was ruined.

Both angry and anxious, she imdiately stood up, grabbed a plate full of cream, and chased after her throughout the house.

"Stop! Don’t run!"

"You guys are already this old, still playing around like this, it’s really..."

"Damn it!"

Lu Jincheng laughed, folding his arms, watching the sisters sar cream on each other’s faces, playfully fighting, and suddenly got sared himself.

"You can’t stay clean either!"

It was Guan Yongyi’s doing.

The short-haired girl stared at his ssy state and giggled.

She resembled a blossoming ice mountain snow lotus, gradually lting under the direct sunlight of sumr.

Now, everyone’s faces were covered with cream of all sizes, filling the room with a cheerful birthday atmosphere.

How long had it been since they had been so purely happy?

Mr. Lu watched the two holding hands, lifting their phones for a playful selfie, and suddenly felt a bit dazed.

"Lu Jincheng, don’t wipe your face! Co here!"

Being with them, happiness had never been so simple.

Lu Jincheng also picked up his forgotten childlike innocence, set aside the freshly opened wet wipe, and sat between the two won, cream sared on both sides of his face, flashing a ’ye’ sign with his hands.

The three of them laughed together, cake sared on their foreheads and faces, captured in a selfie.

Mr. Lu rembered when he used to photograph models in his previous life; he always disdained the cheesy peace sign.

"Don’t make a peace sign; change your pose. That’s too tacky!"

But then, a sentence Goldfish once said ca to mind.

"My peace sign isn’t just for photos! It can also drive all the bad moods away."

Apparently... she had been telling the truth.

For a mont, it felt as if their souls from two different lives resonated in the flowing river of ti.

...

After eating their fill and freshening up, the street lights were already shining outside the window.

Yet, so still weren’t ready to call it a night.

"How about we go have a drink?"

Guan Yongyi turned her head, her eyes inquiringly looking towards Lu Jincheng and the others.

"Why don’t we go sing karaoke? I still want to hear that song you sang last ti at your school auditorium."

Zhou Sinin had her own ideas.

"I’m fine with either, they don’t conflict."

Lu Jincheng smiled and spread his hands.

In fact, they indeed didn’t conflict.

Soon, the three found a wholesale KTV and opened a small private room.

A king with two queens setup could not compete against a large group of classmates gathering, and Mr. Lu would not take the risk again by bringing them to a comrcial KTV like Red Mill.

What if he couldn’t take care of everyone?

Better to just sing honestly.

Small beers, large fruit plate, microphone.

The wholesale KTV was, as always, nothing new.

"Sing now, you sing first!"

Zhou Sinin shook his arm, pestering him to hear a repeat of last ti’s performance.

Lu Jincheng couldn’t say no, and sang the song again for them, a custom version for the two of them.

Next up, the intro music for the next song started.

It was Chen Huilin’s "Attic."

Guan Yongyi bent down to pick up another microphone, smoothed her bangs straight, revealing her small, exquisitely shaped ears.

Today, she only wore a tassel earring on her right side, and the asymtrical earrings combined with her side-parted long bangs gave her a unique charm.

"He hides in the attic

And is as intimate as I am~"

This was the first ti Lu Jincheng had heard Guan Yongyi sing.

She sat on the edge of the couch, both hands gripping the microphone, legs crossed one over the other, rhythmically swaying.

As a native of Guangdong, her pronunciation was very precise, and her voice clear and lodious, sounding as delightful as a mountain spring.

"It sounds great!"

Lu Jincheng imdiately felt amazed and whispered into Zhou Sinin’s ear.

"Of course, Guan Guan is unmatched in singing vernacular songs. Ordinary people don’t get to hear this!"

She also turned her head, whispering back.
