"Let’s give it a try," Azrael said to himself. "It’s not like I’ll lose anything by doing so."

As he spoke, Azrael summoned Fallen Star and used its sharp blade to open a small wound on his palm.

The mont the blade cut into his flesh and blood began to flow, the Fragnt of Abyss, which he had placed on the bed when he summoned Fallen Star, began to shake violently.

Azrael imdiately noticed the fragnt’s trembling and, without hesitation, reached out and picked it up with his bloodied hand.

As soon as his palm made contact with the blade, the pitch-black surface of the Abyss emitted a faint glow and began to absorb his blood.

In re seconds, the small blade absorbed every trace of blood staining Azrael’s palm, making it appear as though it had been licked clean.

But even then, it didn’t stop. A portion of the blade dug into the wound he had opened with Fallen Star and began to draw out more blood.

Azrael frowned at the sight but didn’t pull away.

A full minute passed, yet the fragnt showed no signs of stopping.

"You are really greedy, huh..." Azrael muttered under his breath as he observed his own condition.

Because of his high stats, even though the blade absorbed a considerable amount of blood, he remained relatively fine. However, he knew that it wouldn’t be long before even he began to feel the burden of excessive blood loss.

Azrael tightened his grip on Fallen Star in his other hand, ready to forcefully sever the connection if he sensed any real danger.

Another minute passed, and by now, the toll of blood loss was starting to show, his face had grown pale and his expression darkened.

"This thing really wants to kill the one feeding it," He muttered in a low voice, and without further hesitation, slashed at the Fragnt of Abyss using Fallen Star.

Clang!

The sharp sound of iron striking iron echoed through the room, and the Fragnt of Abyss was blasted away, landing several ters from Azrael.

On the floor, the fragnt twitched faintly, as if dazed or intoxicated, before falling completely still.

Azrael stared at the small black blade with a deadpan expression, wondering if he had just fed it his blood for nothing.

Just then—

(The Fragnt of Abyss wants to form a contract with you.)

(Do you accept?)

[Yes / No]

"Oh! So my guess was right," Azrael sighed in relief upon seeing the notification and imdiately selected Yes.

The mont he confird, he felt a faint connection forming between himself and the Fragnt of Abyss.

It was similar to the bond he shared with Fallen Star, though this one felt significantly weaker in comparison.

’Maybe it’s because this is just a fragnt that the connection feels so faint.’ He thought to himself,

(You have successfully ford a contract with the Fragnt of Abyss.)

(Find the remaining Fragnts of Abyss to complete it and unlock all of its abilities.)

Azrael glanced at the notifications flashing before his eyes, then shifted his gaze to the small blade lying a few ters away.

He extended his palm and, with a thought, attempted to summon the fragnt.

Instantly, the Fragnt of Abyss vanished from the ground and appeared in his hand.

Azrael examined it closely and imdiately noticed that its appearance had changed, it now looked noticeably sharper and more refined than before.

Thinking of sothing, Azrael approached the wall of the spaceship once again and swung the blade against it.

This ti, unlike before when the Fragnt of Abyss hadn’t been able to leave even a scratch, the strike left a deep, clean cut in the wall, causing Azrael’s eyes to widen in disbelief.

’Damn, it’s even sharper than Fallen Star.’

Even Fallen Star, with its passive skill Sword Domination, couldn’t leave such a deep mark on a material of legendary grade with such ease.

Yet, the Fragnt of Abyss had managed to do so effortlessly, making Azrael wonder just how powerful this Soul Armant must have been at its peak.

Curious, he focused on the fragnt, and his Status Window once again displayed its details. However, the information shown this ti was different from before.

====

---) Abyss (1/3): One of the three Fragnts of Abyss, a Soul Armant that shattered during the Ancient War.

---) Type: Weapon-Type Soul Armant (Can grow alongside the user once all fragnts are combined)

---) Status: Incomplete, Unawakened

---) Ability: Venom Whisper (Passive Skill)

---) Venom Whisper: Upon landing a successful strike with Abyss, there is a 5% chance to inflict Whisper Wind Poison on the target. The Whisper Wind Poison reduces the target’s movent speed by 10% and induces hallucinations of their greatest fears, greatly weakening them. The poison’s effects last up to 10 seconds, depending on the difference in strength between you and your opponent. The poison’s effects can stack indefinitely.

====

Azrael read the details carefully, his expression shifting to one of stunned disbelief.

It was only a fragnt, and yet he was already impressed by its terrifying sharpness, capable of cutting through materials of legendary grade.

He hadn’t expected much more from it, but the ability described in its skill details exceeded all his expectations.

Inflicting poison with only a 5% chance might sound unimpressive at first, but given Azrael’s current agility, he could attack dozens of tis in a single second.

That ant each strike carried that sa 5% chance to trigger the poison effect. In battle, that probability beca terrifyingly significant.

Once afflicted, an enemy would not only be trapped in hallucinations of their deepest fears but would also suffer slowed movents, leaving them vulnerable and disoriented.

Moreover, since the poison effect could be stacked without any upper limit, as long as Azrael continued to land successful blows, he could effectively keep his opponent under the poison’s influence indefinitely.

Just as Azrael was marveling at the power of the Fragnt of Abyss, another notification flashed before his eyes, drawing his attention.

(You can now use Causality Points.)
