"Please follow !" the bot said and began to wheel away with purpose.
"Might as well." I said curious about what the thing was trying to do.
We followed the bot to a sealed door with a password lock next to it that the bot punched in a password for.
"AAAANNNDDDD OOPEN!" it said dramatically as the door unsealed and popped open on it's own after being unlocked.
Inside the doorway was a storage room that had clearly been forgotten for quite so ti as dust layered over everything. In the center of the room was a red chest that Brick wasted no fucking ti flipping the latch to even at the cost of everyone other than coughing from the inhaled dust. The entirety of the contents were a Epic quality SMG, an echo cartridge, a good chunk of cash and so ammo.-
"Hot damn that's a storage deck upgrade!" I said amazed at what the chest held.
"More inventory space? Hell yeah!" Brick said with a grin as he snatched up the cartridge and stuffed it into his echo that beeped a few tis before going silent.
The cartridge got passed around until everyone's echoes minus my own maxed out one had just a bity more inventory space.
"You want to co with us or gonna stay here?" I asked the Claptrap after Lil took the SMG.
"My programming designates maintenance of this area as my primary directive! I cannot leave even if I really really want to!" the bot said in a chipper manner.
"So to be clear if I were to take you you'd not resist?" I asked with a grin.
"Hypothetically I would not be able to stop you if you chose to abduct and hypothetically I might be happy if you did." the bot said all but asking to save it from this place with it's air quotes on the word hypothetically.
"Say less little dude." I said with a grin as i opened my house up and tossed the bot in.
"Why do you even want that annoying thing anyway?" Lil asked once I put my house up.
"Potential. Obviously the fucking thing is useless as is but with a few modifications and so reprogramming that could be changed. In fact I am willing to put money down that if done right the thing could give even you guys a run for your money." I said confidently.
"I don't know, things seem kinda weak to " Brick said doubtfully.
"I did say modifications and reprogramming didn't I? Besides it's not like anyone else wants the damn things so who's it gonna bother, Hyperion?" I asked with a sarcastic tone.
(3rd person POV, Hyperion office)
"Did he seriously say that Angel?" the man behind the "Angel" asked seriously.
"He did, I already know what you are going to ask and scanned the design blueprints for that model of robot already and discovered a few things that point at what he said as being true if difficult and costly to implent." The angel replied.
"What sort of things and how costly exactly?" the man asked intrigued.
"Reinforcents of specific areas, material upgrades and a full A.I reprogram to exclude the first and second laws of robotics to na three. As for cost the price to manufacture each unit triples from it's current amount." the angel said sounding surprised.
"Hmmm, send in an order for the modified body of the unit. I'll reprogram the A.I myself with imitating these vault hunters in mind." the man said seriously.
'A trial run then?' The angel asked and he nodded.
"We'll see how it goes." he said skeptically.
(Normal POV)
We moved on through the groaning safehouse after that until we ca across a dium sized room with what appeared to be four Skag dens at the corners and a thick tal door blocking the way. A low warning sound ca out from the door and four midgets in psycho masks ca out of the Skag dens. Two with Buzzaxes and two with shotguns. They all died imdiately as we shot them in the face. Another warning sound ca from the door as it was pulled into the ceiling and two psychos walked out of the now open doorway.-
Fascinatingly one of them had a skull on covering their face that was on fire as they charged at us with a flaming Buzzaxe. I casually grabbed that one by the throat and snapped his neck while checking his traits. To my surprise I found [Fire resistance-Uncommon grade] listed alongside the normal traits I have found on these bandits.
"Hey this guy has a low grade version of [fire resistance], anyone want it?" I asked since even if I didn't want it they might.
"Gim that trait! That Skag was annoying to beat up!" Brick said seriously.
I looked at the others who just shrugged since they didn't want to get in Bricks way and so I drained the 4,127 lifeforce from all the corpses while spending the 2,000 units it took to make a copy of the trait. I held out my hand and Brick gripped it without hesitation and I passed the trait to him. His skin visibly shifted on his body as the top layer shed off to reveal slightly red tinged skin underneath it.
"That itches!" Brick complained as he scratched off the shed skin.
"That was rather mild compared to what I expected." Roland comnted offhandedly.
"It was a low level resistance trait so if I had to guess it just made his skin a tad bit less flammable but his body would still cook if put to the fla. The change wasn't dramatic enough to cause all his skin to need to be replaced like a higher grade trait would." I explained with a shrug.
After that we moved on to a set of stairs with neon arrows pointing down.
"Gross!" Lil said when we reached the bottom of the stairs and saw the sheer amount of blood on the walls and floor like many had been killed there and no one had bothered cleaning it up. It was so bad that there were flies and a horrible rotten stench that made my eyes water in the area. I cursed my enhanced senses at this mont as this REALLY fucking sucked. It beca clear however that this was towards the back of the safehouse as the area opened up into a sort of maze with the exposed pipes and power generators being visible. So midgets and marauders ca at us but we dispatched them easily.-
We found an area with a dismantled runner and a fenced oddly wide open cavern that our echoes said had the key we needed right in the center.
"Fifty bucks says theres sothing big guarding that key." Mordy said seeing this and none of us were willing to take that bet.
The mont we stepped into the cavern an inhumanly massive thing stepped out of the dark doorway at the end that LOOKED like it might have been fucking human once but was beyond that now. Standing a good nine feet tall and having arms and legs as big around as Brick of pure muscle the behemoth started snarling and running at us as fast as it could with a Buzzaxe the size of Lil.-
"BANGx3" I unloaded three rounds at the huge bulbous tal covered head as we scattered without hesitation. The others began to fire at the big bitch as well but it just seed to make it more and more mad while my own bullets only ricocheted off the thick tal helt on the things head. Still that was clearly more than enough for the thing to decide I died first.-
As if that wasn't enough like ten fucking psycho midgets ca out of the holes in the caverns walls and were REALLY fucking annoying. I inhaled deeply while activating both my fire and shock [Elental body] traits which worked to make the charging thing pause in fright or surprise(fuck if I know which) and gave the ti to belch out flas at it. This worked a little TOO well as the thing scread and swatted at the flas causing it pain but seed too dumb to realize I was the source of the stuff and burnt to death as it inhaled fire.-

"Holy Fuck!" I exclaid in shock as I looked the corpses traits over.
"Sothing good or bad?" Mordy asked as everyone grouped up.
"A bit of both if I'm being honest but this fucking thing has a legendary grade trait and I really really REALLY fucking want it! But I'm a broke bitch and ain't got the lifeforce to buy it!" I whined upset.
We hit the button to bring up the "key" (it was a fucking finger on a ring) and the mont the jingle sounded out we got a new ssage.
"You should be able to get into the mine now. There is nothing between you and Sledge, and we'll be one step closer to the Vault. I believe in you!" The "angel" said in our heads.
"I told you so!" I said as I took out my echo to point at it.
