As we waited for Scooter to install the parts and digidestruct the finished vehicle we got a series of echoes.
"Marcus here, I have an opportunity for you if you co see at my shop in T-bone junction."
"Greetings! New bounties are available at the T-bone junction bounty board!"
"Well shit. What do you guys think, split the party?" I asked my friends.
"I'll go see what Marcus wants." Roland offered.
"I'll rendezvous with Athena to find out what she knows." I said.
"I'll check out the quests." Mordy said.
"I'm with Mordy." Brick said.
"And I'm with Roland." Lil said.
"Good enough, happy trails!" I said with a grin and everyone went their own ways.
"All done! You just gotta grab a monster from the machine and head on over to my mommas place in the Fathoms. I already echoed ahead to let her know you were on the way." Scooter said as he settled into his chair again.
I took out a bottle of Jakobs whiskey from my inventory and set it on the desk.
"Thanks for the help mate, treat yourself a little on ." I said before doing exactly what he said and grabbing a monster from the Catch-A-Ride.
"Hey those crimson d-bags have set up a roadblock, just get your murder on and we'll act like nobody saw nothin." Scooter said as I hopped in the driver seat of a monster.
The monster was like the runners bigger roid raging brother really. The thing was a massive armored thing with a gunner seat and a driver seat while the passenger seat was entirely occupied by the massive nitrous tank. It had six wheels and was clearly made for more "aggressive" driving with how slow it was. It was a fucking weaponized vehicle made to take on other weaponized vehicles to put it bluntly.-
Leaving the shop with the loud rumble of the engine I drove the monster south of the town following the highways as that was where the map marker said to go. A first it seed like the highway was fairly normal with a billboard every now and again and a few maintenance spotting points for ergency vehicle maintenance. This opinion changed REAL fast when I ca across not one, not two but THREE fucking atlas probe bot stations that attacked without hesitation.-
Then I ca across the real crimson lance stuff with the road being regularly painted with their logo, the walls having barbed wire at the top and sporting lance colors. The three armored patrol vehicles I had to blow the fuck up and then finally the checkpoint itself which had a fucking energy barrier of all things to keep people from just blowing through it. The checkpoint itself was CRAWLING with lancen and I got out of the monster to go on a walk through it.
"It's Drake! Take him down!" One of the lancen yelled and dozens of guns turned on .
With a vicious grin I shot towards the loudmouth and with a flick of my wrist impaled him on my arm as I punched through the soft parts of his outfit. Holding my new shield up I charged up the stairs to the main area of the check point while the corpse was riddled with bullets.
"Rocket inbound!" I heard a voice yell and imdiately leapt high into the air as my previous location exploded.
I casually freed my arm by tossing what was left of the body off to the side as I flipped mid air and to the shock and horror of the lancen kicked off of nothing to reposition. After the my outfit got destroyed last ti I put in so serious work making the new one. I went all out too making an outfit that was not only comfortable but also massively overkill with features. My boots had aerial maneuver tech from the Seraphs, my pants were armored with kinetic absorption tech as well as projection tech. My belt had several pouches for grenades or other tools I may need, my shirt had the sa set up as my pants but for my powers energy getting sent into my jacket that was a silver duster with a large footprint with five claws on it(four at the front one on the side). -
The jacket was not only armored but was made to channel my powers as well as having a cloaking feature. My hands were left bare however so I didn't need to worry about my pure destruction coating there. My mask was remade stronger but otherwise the sa as before. Thanks to my outfits solid silver aesthetic it was hard not to notice and focus exclusively on in the process.-
I didn't bother to draw my guns as I descended like a bird of prey with both my hands ignited the dreadful color of destruction. My hands passed through two lancen like air and I didn't skip a beat as i moved low to the ground at full speed towards the next victim. It was a bloodbath as I ripped through the pitiful resistance they offered and soon enough panic set in and friendly fire no longer was seen as unacceptable but brutally vital. Grenades were thrown at , friend nearby or not. Shots ca for even with others in their way and I rely smiled gleefully at the rush of adrenaline pumping through .-
My shield and unpredictable weaving across the boxes and barriers left uninjured while the soldiers dropped from or their own allies. My shield eventually broke which reignited hope in the lancen for the briefest mont before it was deliciously torn away when their bullets pinged off my armored clothes harmlessly. Five minutes after my slaughter began I dispatched the last of the lancen with a swift chop removing his head from his shoulders.-
"Haa~ now that was a work out! Now then lets take down this pesky barrier why don't we?" I said to no one in particular as I sighed in satisfaction.
"Haaaa~ Alright, this is General Knox. Going to be honest. I don't really want to be here. This planet slls like hemorrhoids wrapped in bacon. I sent Steele here to take care of this problem and well, you've t her. Talks all the ti and then theres our friend the sun, you get it. So thanks for turning her into a at skewer. also gonna kill you and stuff, cheers." Knoxx sent over the echo sounding straight up done with life.
You weren't going to catch thinking that ant he was going to go down easy though, I fucking knew better. That old man might be on his last legs but he has NEVER been a quitter. There was only one way he was retiring, death in combat. If I wasn't wrong he probably knew he wasn't going to win this fight. He wanted to go out in a blaze of glory against enemies who made his blood sing, respectable in it's own way.
