Sophia, together with Steph, Fen, and Aura, went out to speedrun to Maya's hotown as they were the fastest in their group. Sophia wanted to run around rather than constantly using her portals because that was a favorite pasti of hers, after all. While doing so, the blonde also had a nice chat with Aura about bio projects as well as first preparations for a future with lots of cubs running around.

“Yay, I won~!” Sophia arrived at the big stones Fen had previously marked as the goal, where she let out a small cheer with Aura right on her heels while ti was still stopped for everyone but the two.

“How can soone with only two legs be so fast?!” The wolf had been barely able to keep up with her and even seed to be slightly out of breath.

“I’m quite proud of my legs!” Sophia lightly patted her outer thighs while smiling at her.

“How much magic do you use to boost your running speed?!”

“Yes~.” The blonde smirked at her.

“Yeah, that checks out.” Aura wasn’t surprised by her rather predictable answer. “I used quite a bit of magic to increase my speed as well, so there’s no way that you could beat with pure strength alone. Even factoring in all those dubious boosts Canir shoved into your body.”

“I was just starting to forget about those!” Her expression scrunched up after hearing that.

“The stuff that the overseer gave you and turned you almost into your own species and half an overseer?” The wolf tilted her head.

“Yes, those.” Sophia rolled her eyes.

“You sure are sothing else for being able to forget sothing like that.”

“I an, they kind of got assimilated into , and there hasn't been anything that overwheld in a way they'd get in the way, so…"

“Fair enough, I guess.”

“Anyway, let’s do a race completely without magic next!” The blonde changed the topic.

“To see if boosted you can beat a massive four-legged wolf on equal terms?”

“Yes!”

“Fine by !” She rarely says no to a challenge, after all. “On another note, it appears that you were right with that.” Aura then gestured at Fen and Steph, still frozen in ti, just a couple of ters away from the rocks, with the dog-girl being slightly in the lead.

“I knew it~!” Sophia lightly clapped her hands as she smiled at her sister and the male wolf. “I wonder how much harder it will beco to herd Steph if she can use detection magic.”

“What do you an?” Aura sounded a little confused.

“She already constantly runs after everything that catches her attention. What do you think is going to happen if she can sense interesting things for kiloters all around her?”

“Ahh, I see.” She nodded a few tis. “Well, you two are sisters, so that makes sense.”

“I should’ve seen that one coming.” The tiger couldn’t bla her for that. “Then again, she can always return through the portal I gave her, so I don’t have to go and hand out lost dog posters everywhere when she inevitably follows sothing interesting without telling us.”

“Are you really qualified to criticize others when it cos to getting lost?” Aura just looked at her while slowly shaking her head.

“I never get lost!” The blonde started pouting. “I’m usually incapable of finding the destination, but getting lost would imply that I can’t find ho anymore! With my ho being my domain, I am incapable of not being able to get ho!”

“Is that how it is?”

“Absolutely!”

“Hmm.”

“Shush!” Sophia didn't like the wolf's stare. “Alright, ti to add players three and four back to the ga!" Dropping the topic, she concentrated for a second before snapping her fingers. Imdiately after, everything around them ca back to life again.

“-t’s gooo!” It seed like Steph had already started cheering before ti had been stopped. "H-Huh?! Sophia?!" She then almost crashed into her older sister, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere right in front of her. The dog-girl only barely managed to stop in ti and got caught by the blonde as she dove into her arms for a surprise hug.

“Where did you co from?!” Fen had the sa reaction when he saw her and Aura.

“What do you an?” The female wolf innocently tilted her head. “You two didn’t actually think you could beat Sophia and in a race now, did you?”

“You’ve never gotten remotely close to beating . Why would you even think that?" The tiger joined the gaslighting while looking at her sister.

“That’s not the issue here!” The dog-girl glared at her. “You two literally just appeared in front of us!”

“Well, we are simply that fast~.” Aura’s voice turned even cheekier.

“You two cheated, didn’t you?” Fen knew what type of voice usually ant.

"What kind of cheat let you appear out of nowhere?!" Steph's glare was exchanged for sparkling eyes as she imdiately got excited.

“The type that only soone who’s half an overseer could use.” He stared at the blonde.

“What kind of feature do you have now that you haven’t told about?!” She went back to pouting. She’s quite the expressive girl, after all.

“I have told you about it before.” Sophia shook her head. “You know that I can stop ti.”

“Yup, that definitely counts as cheating.” Fen felt validated after hearing that.

“Huh?!” Steph got rather loud for a mont. “No, wait, I do rember that!” She paused for a second. “You just barely use it, so it kinda lost my attention. Maybe it was even too much for to understand, too…” The concept of stopping ti was complex to grasp, even for soone as whimsical as her.

“I use it all the ti.” Sophia smirked at her. “You just don’t notice because ti’s stopped for you~.”

“What?!” She raised her voice even more. “What are you constantly stopping ti for?!”

“I’m a little slow, so it helps think." The blonde smiled at her. "Also, Maya's permanently horny and often doesn’t want to wait, so stopping ti together with her in that mont is the easiest way to deal with that.”

“So you stop ti, have sex with Maya, and then go on with your day?!” Steph got the loudest yet. “Whenever, too?! Like, out in the open with all of us around while we’re in utter ignorance of what’s going on?!”

“We’d never~.” Sophia’s voice turned even more playful as she winked at her.

“I hate you so much!” The dog-girl looked incredibly envious. “Is that why you two look a little disheveled all of a sudden every now and then?! I want to beco an overseer, too!”

“I’m not an overseer!” The blonde glared at her.

“Yeah, yeah, you don’t have enough power, yeah, sure, whatever!” Steph had heard that way too often already. “I want to have all the overseer toys, too! Better?”

“…” She couldn’t argue with that.

“Anyway, putting you being the usual pervert aside, this is clearly cheating!” Fen focused on the important part as he looked at the blonde. “Stopping ti to win is clearly against the rules!”

“I don’t think we ever set up any rules, did we?” Aura sided with the tiger, and her profiting from it had nothing to do with it.

“So things are just so obvious that they don't need to be talked about!” The male wolf didn't accept that excuse.

“Cheap excuses~.” Aura let out a chuckle. “Everything is fair ga in a contest unless specified otherwise.”

“Grr.”

“Don't worry.” Sophia smiled at him to calm the wolf down. “Aura and I just wanted to ss around a little because we were a little distracted and entered the race too late. The race isn’t void, though. You still lost against my sister.”

“Let’s go!” That was all that counted for Steph.

“Right…” He let out a sigh before looking at the dog-girl. “But, just so you know, you only beat because I forgot to change into my much faster and bigger form. I only rembered right before the race was over.”

“Doesn’t matter!” She didn’t care. “You’re still going to teach how to use the detection magic!”

“Of course… A promise is a promise.”

“Told you so!” Hearing that, Sophia smirked at Aura.

“Yep.” She just nodded.

“What is this about?” Fen didn’t like how well they were getting along right now.

“Nothing~.”

“…”

“So, let’s get to the teaching!” Steph was highly motivated and had no interest in delving deeper into whatever the mischievous duo was up to.

“Of course.” He sent one last glare to the two before focusing on the dog-girl. “It’s actually rather easy to get the hang of it, while perfecting it takes a while.” He then paused for a mont while looking around. “Well, that’s what I’d like to say, but I don’t think I can start teaching you just yet.”

“Why?!” She didn’t like the sound of that.

“The easiest way to make you understand how my detection magic works and to learn it, is to detect sothing in the vicinity under my guidance.” The wolf then looked around once more while seemingly concentrating on sothing. “So birds aside, there actually isn’t anything around to detect. Imdiately around us, at least.”

“Oh, you’re right!” Sophia nodded a few tis. “Well, we are in the middle of an empty plain, so that makes sense.”

“So unfair!” Steph started pouting.

“Don’t worry, a promise is a promise.” Fen tried to reassure her. “In fact, we just need to find a cow or sothing of that size or power level. There’s no way we won’t run into sothing like that on our way. How about we have a race to the next checkpoint, WITHOUT CHEATING, and I guarantee you we'll find sothing to train you on." He shot another glare towards Sophia and Aura there.

“Let’s go!” The dog-girl imdiately cheered up again.

Having agreed on that, Fen, as he knew where to go, decided on the next goal for their second race, and everyone got ready for a fair competition for a change.
