"I... I..." Seeing that all his good words were of no use, General Reyes, both angry and anxious, drew his sword with a flourish. Before he could climb onto the crystal war chariot to vent his anger by hacking at old Liu, he instead fainted and fell to the ground with a "thud" due to the rush of blood.

There were no less than a hundred Beamon generals in Witherspoon City, each looking at one another, all a bit at a loss for what to do.

It’s not that they didn’t want to intervene, but they dared not. As for battle achievents and strength, no one in the Bimon Kingdom has the right to point fingers at the Shaman of Divine Songs.

As the instigator, Liu Zhenshake was completely unaware of how arrogant his actions seed.

His logic was very simple: the Mulanese are not fools; they would never charge at the city walls on cals spontaneously. Since the goal was to inflict maximum damage on the enemy without incurring heavy losses, charging stupidly into the wilderness to get ravaged by the enemy’s cal cavalry was not an option. The only way was to cast out a substantial enough bait, like fishing, to draw the Mulanese into disadvantageous terrain and rely on geographical advantages to eliminate them as much as possible.

The city gates of Witherspoon were for old Liu the best enticing bait.

One must admit, so people’s capital is indeed overwhelming, so although what they do might seem quite normal to them, to others, it appears rather astonishing.

The senior advisors of the human military observation group thought old Liu was incredibly reckless; this way of showing weakness to the enemy and deliberately setting a fatal flaw in combat was beyond their imagination.

Putting aside whether it was confidence or arrogance, at this mont, it was an undeniable fact that the Sumr Palace guards had taken control of the opponent’s rhythm. They hadn’t advanced a step, yet they forced the Mulan cavalry to charge and fight against them, which is an art in itself—a gamble with high stakes.

The first wave to charge towards the Witherspoon city gates consisted of the scout cavalry originally patrolling outside the city. The number of these cavalryn was not large, fewer than two thousand altogether. Initially, they thought the Bimon army was coming out to et them in battle, but after they assembled and ford up, they realized the enemy was just holding at the open city gate with no intention of coming out.

This discovery left the Mulan officers in charge of the scout cavalry confused but also ecstatic.

Though they didn’t grasp what the enemy intended, the real scene before them was too good for the Mulan scouts not to feel overjoyed!

What kind of good fortune was this?

The scouts were seasoned veterans with rich combat experience, and the officers leading these small reconnaissance units were also seasoned officers with excellent military skills. Once such an apparent but not-so-apparent opportunity arose, the Mulan officers quickly organized all available centaurs, forming the sharpest attack formation, brandishing their curved blades, and charged fiercely towards the gates of Witherspoon. From the base camp to Witherspoon was thirty miles—this distance, even with a cal’s full-speed sprint, could not be covered instantly. The scout cavalry had to buy enough ti for the main force.

These Mulan scouts didn’t know that the Sumr Palace guards actually had no intention of closing the city gates at all. Their anxiety that the Bimon might suddenly change their mind and re-close the gates was indistinguishable from General Reyes’s earlier desperation.

The waters of Witherspoon’s moat rippled with chaotic waves, and the dense, rain-like cal hooves thunderously pounded the ground. The skilled Mulan scouts suddenly increased their sprinting speed upon reaching a two-hundred-yard distance.

To shield themselves from sniping from above the city wall, every Mulan scout lay flat against their calbacks, using turtle shell round shields to protect their upper bodies firmly; a few of the more reckless Mulan cavalryn scorned protection altogether, brandishing spears in one hand and waving scimitars with the other, shouting "Dilolo~ Dilolo~" in excitent as they charged forward.

The drawbridge of Witherspoon was crafted from the age-old forest timber, solid in texture, but it groaned miserably under the trampling of so many cal cavalry.

A hundred or two hundred yards for the charging cavalry was almost instantaneous. Like a brown north wind, the scout cavalry surged like a tide onto the eagerly awaiting crystal at grinder war chariots. The hooves of the leaping cals and the spinning giant spiked rollers instantly created a plethora of blood!

The desert n’s nature was indeed fierce. Even knowing they’d beco minced at upon collision, none hesitated; one cal cavalryman after another charged like moths to a fla, using their flesh and blood to battle the war machines.

Two crystal at grinder war chariots, each weighing over twenty tons, emitted a series of piercing noises when colliding with the cal cavalry, like tal sheets struck by a heavy hamr. Little by little, the tall cals pressing forward in a chain collision forced the war chariots to retreat. The wide crystal tracks left long, deep scratches on the stone-paved ground.

The nacing and vicious faces of the nearby Mulan cavalry frightened the Beamon civilians watching the battle from rooftops in the distance, turning them pale.

The patience and composure of the Sumr Palace guards gave every spectator sweat-dampened palms.

Even with scenes of blood and carnage right before their eyes, and warm shattered entrails splattering on their faces, not a single Sumr Palace warrior blinked; the gap between the paired at grinder war chariots was neither too large nor too small. Occasionally, an enemy would slip through, only to be taken down by heavy spears, which imdiately pierced through the air to knock down the Mulan cavalryman and their cal together before the second at grinder defense line had a chance to act.
