’No. I just wanted to say, enjoy your dinner, sir...’
Noah was left speechless after Zoe’s false alarm.
While enjoying his drink and dinner, Noah stays alert. He makes sure all his senses can detect any danger nearby.
But nothing suspicious happened around him until he finished his king crabs and lobster grill.
He began to grow tired of searching for the people on The List. Frustrated from thinking about how difficult it was to find them.
Noah excused himself to Jason, who still enjoyed his dinner.
"Oh, you’re heading outside? Wait a few minutes for , and I will go with you—"
"No need, Jason. I just wanted to look at the beach from the balcony. You keep enjoying your food. I’ll be fine." Noah stopped him as he stood up from his seat.
Jason imdiately wiped his hand with a napkin and wanted to follow him, "But, Noah—"
"Oh, shut it, Jason! If you keep following everywhere, when will I have a chance to et a girl, huh? People might start thinking I’m gay and you’re my partner..." Noah chuckled as he noticed Jason’s expression change to wry.
"Alright, but you must not go anywhere too far for to reach you within a few seconds," Jason gently reminded him. He didn’t want Noah to face any trouble alone, especially since Matthew and Edgar always warned him never to let Noah go alone.
Noah didn’t rush to answer Jason, but he pulled out a cigarette from his coat. After taking one, he turned to look at Jason.
"Fine. I just want to smoke a cigar on the balcony..."
"What the...!? Noah, since when do you smoke?"
Jason was surprised to learn that. Since knowing Noah in Opal City, he has never seen him smoke.
"Since today," Noah playfully answered before leaving the room.
The truth is, he started smoking after his first kill. Sothing strange was always unsettled in his mind after that, and only smoking a good nthol cigarette could soothe his semi-chaotic thoughts.
...
Noah stood on the balcony, gazing at the dark sea in the distance.
There wasn’t much he could see; even the moonlight couldn’t help him, as dark clouds covered the moon.
He continued to stand there, trying to enjoy the sound of waves crashing against the rocks as he placed a cigarette to his lips and lit it.
Noah pondered his next move for the following day.
Should he look for them, or has he just revealed himself to the dia, making it likely that those people will co after him instead?
The idea always played in his mind.
He had discussed this with Zoe, but of course, she stopped him, warning him that he was too weak to face them right now.
Level up! This is what Zoe keeps telling him.
However, he can’t level up instantly; he needs a cruel and relentless enemy or to take over another big company to earn enough experience.
Sigh!
Noah took a deep drag on his cigarette and exhaled slowly into the air.
After standing there for a mont, he felt his mind calm and clear.
But shortly after, the peace was interrupted when he heard the door creaking behind him.
Before Noah could react, a woman’s harsh voice broke the silence with curses.
"What the fuck with him? Does he believe he’s the only man in the universe? Does he think he’s handso? What a shaless person! He could only boast his family na, yet he already acted arrogantly before ..."
She took a deep breath before continuing her loud yapping.
"You’re a red flag man! You appear nice and sweet in front of my family, but in front of , you are rude and trashy! Wow... I’ve never t anyone as shaless as you, you idiot—"
The woman suddenly sensed she was not alone, and her voice abruptly faded into the air.
’Oh shit... When did that man get there? Ugh, he’s the first one standing there, right?’
She scolded herself as her gaze fixed on the man standing a few steps away from her, wearing a long black coat, holding a cigarette, and completely ignoring her; his gaze was focused on the sea ahead.
As if aware of the woman staring at him, Noah finally looked at her.
What he saw surprised him. The woman looked stunning with her dark, wavy hair cascading down her shoulders. She was dressed in a sleek black suit, her tight skirt hugging her figure perfectly. She appeared as though she had just co from a business eting. Her eyes blinked nervously as she stared at him with a mix of embarrassnt and guilt.
He saw her part her lips a few tis to speak, but no words ca out.
"Excuse , lady. Do you want to leave this balcony?" Noah asked calmly, as he threw his cigarette butt and stepped it casually.
It takes a few seconds for the woman to respond to him. She shook her head.
"No. It’s fine! It doesn’t matter to if you stay there. Besides, I’m the one who intruded on your peaceful mont... Sorry!"
Noah nods. He saw her smile sweetly before she turned toward the door.
However, before the woman could return inside, she spotted soone she wanted to avoid walking through the glass door, heading to the balcony.
"Oh, fuck! What the hell does he want..."
Noah was taken aback when he saw her coming toward him with a pleading look.
"Please, help ..." Her soft pleading tone surprised him.
Even though he was confused, Noah gave a slight nod.
"What..." he started to say, but the words caught in his throat as the woman suddenly stood right in front of him, hiding from soone who was now opening the door behind him.
They stood so close, and each ti their hands lightly brushed, he was unexpectedly ward by her gentle touch.
"Please help . Please make sure that cruel bastard didn’t see ..." she whispered, her voice just loud enough for Noah to hear.
The woman’s eyes radiated fear, prompting him to nod in response to her plea.
