For a brief mont, Noah and the young devil locked eyes, each trying to read the other’s mind, but neither of them succeeded.

Just as Noah was about to act, the shaless young devil suddenly shouted.

"Kill him! He was the new recruit, but he ran away..."

The guards quickly drew their guns and opened fire on Noah. But despite the close range, not a single bullet found its mark.

Noah moved so fast that it was impossible to land a shot, even from just a few ters away.

As he weaved through the gunfire, Noah cursed the young devil in his mind. He couldn’t believe a re devil would stoop so low, willingly abandoning and sacrificing his own n and friends as a distraction just to escape alone.

Noah drew his spirit-silver gun and took aim at the young devil, who was already trying to flee.

Though bullets still rained around him, Noah managed to land a clean shot to the devil’s right waist.

The young man collapsed to his knees, a long howl tearing from his throat.

’Got you,’ Noah thought with relief.

But then, confusion hit as he saw a thin black fla lingering around the young devil.

’Zoe! Why is he still there alive?’ he asked sternly, needing confirmation.

’You need to hit his heart to destroy the devil souls within him.’

’I see...’ Noah re-aid his gun at the devil, but his system alert interrupted him. Again!

Noah turned in the direction Zoe warned him in his mind, only to see a bullet inches from his heart.

With a swift move, he dodged, but not fast enough. The round struck his shoulder, forcing him back several steps.

’Motherfucker! You’re dead!!’

Noah cursed, clutching his shoulder to slow the bleeding. His eyes bloodshot, he glared at the bastard who dared shoot him.

It was the first ti he’d taken a hit, and the pain was brutal.

’Damn it!’

Noah’s rage surged, triggering his Ultimate Revenge. Despite the naless pain in his shoulder, he still could move faster.

In a flash, he appeared behind the man who shot him. Killing him could wait. He would use him instead. A whisper was all it took to sway the man’s mind.

"Go. Kill all your dear friends. And shoot all your friends who appear in this place..." he breathed into his ear.

And just like that, the man turned on his allies, killing them one by one.

No longer concerned with the guards, Noah strode toward the young devil.

As their eyes t, a chill ran through him; those eyes were no longer human. They were pitch black, void of life.

This is the first ti he’s seen it firsthand; before, he’d only seen this kind of eye in movies.

The young devil glanced up. A cold smirk touched his lips as he asked, "You seem to recognize ?"

Noah chuckled as he stood a few steps away from the young devil.

Looking at the devil now kneeling before him, he felt relieved that this man could no longer escape his grasp.

But,

Surprisingly, his system showed no sign of an Ultimate Revenge notification.

’This man is so calm! I’ve already hurt him... but he still hasn’t shown any killing intent toward .’

He didn’t wait for Zoe’s answer; the silver gun reappeared in his hand.

This ti, he switched hands, as he couldn’t shoot with the injured one. The pain still tortured him.

In an instant, the gunshot shattered the forest’s calm once more, but Noah was stunned. The young devil vanished from his view, and his bullet struck only the empty ground.

His system notification tore at his mind, warning him of a threat. But he couldn’t see anything, and there wasn’t even a word from Zoe.

’Zoe, did you hear that? Please answer ...’

’Damn it! Zoe, don’t tell we lost connection!’

He tried again and again to communicate with Zoe in his mind, but still failed. He heard nothing, as if the link between them had been severed.

Before Noah could locate the young devil, he suddenly appeared in front of him.

He was close.

So close, it made Noah’s heart nearly stop.

The young devil easily grasped Noah’s hand, the one holding the silver gun. His cold smile stretched wider, and his dark, empty eyes flickered.

He forced Noah’s hand open, the gun slipping from his grasp. As it hit the ground, the devil kicked it away.

Without warning, the young devil raised his other hand and stabbed a black, sharp dagger into Noah’s wounded shoulder.

A low, drawn-out growl tore from Noah’s lips, unable to contain the searing pain.

"Such a weak human! How dare you co after us? You’re a fool!" he spat dark blood beside him before continuing his chilling words, "No human escapes my blade... the poison in it will kill you slowly."

He smiled one last ti and slashed his own neck.

And seconds later, sothing dark, like black smoke, drifted out of the man’s mouth, leaving behind a lifeless body.

’His soul escaped... How do I capture it? Zoe? Are you there?’

Still no answer.

Noah watched the dark smoke swirl farther away; he couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Not because he didn’t want to... but because he didn’t know how.

He reached for his silver gun, but it was too far.

And now, his shoulder felt far worse than before. It feels like soone had ignited hellfire inside it.

’Damn it! I can’t die like this!’

Noah clenched his teeth and tried to sit up. When he saw the black smoke hovering over his new ally—the guard who had killed his friend—his eyes widened in horror.

’Oh shit... The devil’s going to use one of his guards as a new host?’

Everything happened so fast. He didn’t even blink before the thick smoke entered the man’s body.

Within seconds, the man shuddered, and his eyes turned pitch black.

"Bye! Enjoy your slow de—" the man’s voice halted. He froze.

And then,

A soft gunshot echoed from behind the man. A silver bullet pierced the devil’s heart, and his body erupted into ash and vanished.

Noah, who saw it all, was utterly stunned and speechless, his gaze locked on the short blonde girl holding a black gun, staring straight at him.
