"I really underestimated that thing." Tang Yue weakly sat down as she wiped the blood and sweat from her face. Her chest burned, her arms shook, as exhaustion took over her. She really did not expect the wolf to be this slippery and sneaky.
In hindsight, she should have already expected this. A wolf would never be so weak in combat like a clam. Even though both had managed to form a Dao seed, one was obviously vastly superior than the other.
Tang Yue took a mont to settle herself and then quickly got to work as she started devouring the wolf from head to toe. The wind dao energy circulating inside it was slick and an, trying to wriggle free even after death. She didn’t let it. She pinned each strand with a thin stitch of gravity and tad it little by little.
This ti the process was easier than the first try but it was still very difficult and not too efficient. A lot of the dao energy dissipated back into the world. In the end, she only managed to grab a fraction of it.
As the last of the wolf’s essence sank in, a cool ribbon unrolled behind her Gravity seed, thin, fast, and sharp. Not a full Wind seed yet, but a mark of it, a brand. When she stood, her body felt different. Steps ca lighter, turns ca tighter, and the air seed to slip past her like water. She tried a short dash and imdiately felt the change.
She imdiately ca to a conclusion. She needed more Dao seeds!
The turtle girl grinned, eyes bright. "I will never get tired of watching you devour!"
"Are there more?"
"I knew you were going to ask this. Follow , my dear friend."
For the next several hours, the woman led Tang Yue to one territory after another spread across the wilderness. Each territory was ruled by a beast with a Dao seed, so fully ford and so partially ford.
First was a dune mantis that owned the Sand Dao. Tang Yue pinned its legs with heavy air, cut it clean with her draconic magic, and ate what she could. Most of the sand power slipped away, but a grain stayed.
Next ca an iron boar with a tal dao. She sank its feet, tilted its weight, and pald its tusk into nothing. The two continued until nothing was left.
Eventually there was nothing more left in the whole continent.
"What do you an there are no more dao beasts?" Tang Yue huffed, her breathing raggard.
"You idiot." The turtle girl helplessly smiled. "You are close to breaking down. You need to rest first. And even if you want to go all out right now, there are really no more dao beasts left in this world. What did you think? That there would be countless such beasts in this small trapped world? This is it, bish. If you want more, we have to actually step outside of this world."
Imdiately, a flicker of hesitation appeared in Tang Yue’s eyes.
"What? You don’t want to leave this world?"
Tang Yue did not say anyting.
"Yue, dear. You forgot sothing. The mont you stepped in the path of the Dao, the clock has already started ticking. You don’t have much ti now."
"What do you an?" Tang Yue asked.
"Yue! The rise of a Dao beast is not a simple matter. Many beings will take note of such a new developnt. Do you understand whom I am talking about?"
Tang Yue’s face beca cold. "Do you an those-"
She was about to say Gods when the turtle girl stopped her. "You should not utter those nas. Even just saying their na will attract their attention. That is if they haven’t already noticed you. If we don’t hurry and leave now, you will soon be face to face with one. This I can tell you with a 100% guarantee. Why did you think I went to the trouble of testing you and everything?"
Tang Yue’s long forked tongue flickered in and out. She understood now. She took a mont and then nodded her hear. "It indeed looks like I have no other choice. I have to run and hide."
Turtle girl laughed. "Oh, please don’t make such a face. I know how much you hate retreating so don’t worry. We are not running and hiding. We are going to run and then you are going to devour."
Tang Yue looked at the flaky woman.
"I have prepared a portal for you, my dear friend. This is the last help I can give you. While this world is small and insignificant, the outside worlds are big and wild. There are so many powerful dao beasts out there. Lots and lots for you to devour and rise to your forr power."
Tang Yue nodded. "I understand. Let’s do it."
The turtle girl was shocked. "You agreed just like that?"
"Why wouldn’t I?"
"The greedy princess I once knew would never agree to sothing like this. She would stay and fight until the very end."
"Is that why she died?" Tang Yue indifferently asked.
Turtle girl, for once, beca quiet. "What happened to her was an accident. Even the all-powerful would fall if luck and fate does not favor them at that mont. I do not know the exact details. Your forr self liked to keep everything to herself. What I do know is that these bastards took advantage of her when she was at her weakest."
The woman clenched her fist as she seed to be truly full of rage and anger.
"Those worms and insects who did not deserve to even stand in front of her, took advantage of her weakness and climbed to the peak. Co. Let’s leave this place soon. I am waiting for you to get back to your full form. Those vermin have ruled this world long enough. This is your world. Your Kingdom. It’s ti you claid what is rightfully yours!"
