"Lord Linus, has the Great Knight passed away?"

The old Duke’s expression turned somber.

"I fear so. I can no longer sense his aura of faith, and even this Holy Emblem is damaged. I’m afraid not even his soul has remained..."

The Great Priest said, looking at the shattered Holy Emblem in his hand.

"Who did it? Is it related to the recent anomaly in Bold?"

The old Duke grew more serious, his brows furrowing slightly.

The Great Priest remained silent for a few seconds before shaking his head slightly:

"I do not know..."

"However, the Guardian Holy Emblem that Ed wore is specially made by the Church Authority Country. It can withstand even the power of legends for a mont... An ordinary person couldn’t possibly destroy his soul."

"Unless..."

The Great Priest did not continue.

But considering the various anomalies in the sky over Bold City that had just occurred, Duke Bold soon fell into silence.

His face was a mix of shades, as if he had made so associations.

"The person has already fled, and quite quickly at that. Let’s first see if we can find any traces. I seem to sll the rotting stench typical of the Undead."

The Great Priest spoke.

After saying this, he silently prayed, and a holy radiance blossod around him.

The Great Priest gently stretched out his hand, scattering the light onto the ground, and as the specks of light fell, wisps of black gas rose from the soil.

"The power of the Undead?"

The old Duke was sowhat surprised.

As an experienced Blazing Sun Knight, he was not unfamiliar with this kind of power.

Although the Holy Royal Court always emphasized the necessity of faith, there were still a considerable number of Transcendents and ordinary people who nominally worshiped deities, but were in fact non-believers.

The Holy Royal Court could not possibly check every individual, so there were quite a few such non-believers. After their death, their souls would not return to the realm of deities.

If their bodies were not dealt with in ti, their souls would linger in the world, eventually fading away. So, encountering special circumstances, would turn into the Undead.

For this reason, almost every Noble’s domain had experienced incidents of Undead resurgence. Exterminating these resurrected Undead was also a common task for the Demon Hunting Institute and Noble Lords.

However, feeling that familiar aura of the Undead, the old Duke quickly furrowed his brows, sensing sothing amiss:

"The one who fought the Great Knight... was it a high-level Undead? That’s impossible, right?"

"Yes, that’s impossible. The Holy Light of my Holy Royal Court is the bane of the Undead, unless it was a battle against a Legendary Witch King. No one could have defeated Ed in such a short ti..."

The Great Priest also shook his head.

The old Duke narrowed his eyes:

"It seems that the other party wanted to hide their tracks..."

"Most likely."

The Great Priest nodded and continued to cast Divine Arts, probing the traces of the battle.

"There are no traces left, the power of the Undead is best suited for pollution. The culprit must be a habitual offender."

He shook his head after a mont.

The old Duke furrowed his brows:

"What mission was the Great Knight performing?"

"He was supposed to be hunting down the leader of the Rose Association, Sebastian Flaheart."

"The Rose Association, I heard that last night the Rose Association was once again recognized by the Church."

The old Duke looked deeply at the Great Priest, his statent carrying a profound aning.

The Great Priest remained silent for a mont, then replied:

"This matter is not related to , nor did I expect that the Rose Association might be linked to Castel. I didn’t anticipate that... the Rose Association would be able to withstand the trial of the Holy Light Judgnt."

The old Duke was noncommittal and after a mont’s thought, he said:

"It shouldn’t be Sebastian."

"I have dealt with him before; he’s quite an interesting Elf."

"He is a staunch non-believer, convinced that the Moon God destroyed the Old Continent, forcing the Elves to drift to the New Continent."

"Not only did he blasphe against the Moon God worshipped on the Moon God Island, but it is said he also insulted the Duke of the Bloodline, a complete lunatic, yet surprisingly a decent person."

"However... I rember his power had already fallen in rank."

"It must be sothing else..."

The Great Priest did not deny it.

He picked up the damaged Holy Emblem once more and infused a bit of Holy Power into it.

However, the mont the Holy Power entered the Holy Emblem, a terrifying aura suddenly rose from it.

The aura ca quickly, and was gone just as fast, dissipating in the blink of an eye.

But in that instant, the Great Priest trembled slightly as if he had heard a commanding rebuke from ancient tis:

"Begone——!"

Under that voice, the Great Priest’s face turned pale, as if his soul had been wounded.

He almost imdiately threw the damaged Holy Emblem away and staggered, nearly losing his balance.

Watching the Great Priest’s reaction, the old Duke’s eyelid twitched.

He instinctively looked at the Holy Emblem thrown onto the ground, pulled out his sword intending to pick it up, but was imdiately stopped by the Great Priest:

"Don’t touch it!"

"Don’t touch it!"

"It’s been polluted!"

"The Evil God... it’s the power of the Evil God! A foreign Evil God has just descended here!"

The Great Priest exclaid in terror.

The Evil God...!

The old Duke’s expression changed dramatically.

anwhile, the Great Priest perford a series of Holy Purifications on the Holy Emblem on the ground, and after a long ti, he carefully picked it up again.

"The aura is gone, It should have left already."

The Great Priest sighed in relief.

However, the face of the Bold Duke looked sowhat troubled:

"Is it... the one representing the thorny rose?"

The Great Priest fell silent.

After a long ti, he let out a sigh:

"This old man... is not certain."

The old Duke suddenly beca furious:

"Lord Linus, I address you as Lord out of respect for you as a Church priest!"

"As a priest, you have the duty to report the resurgence of the Evil God!"

"Aside from the Blood Demon Church, Bold has not seen a new cult organization for quite so ti."

"The one who could have killed a Great Knight is very likely the mysterious Evil God of the thorny rose!"

"Obviously... Its power has recovered a lot over these days."

"Lord Linus, you can no longer keep this from the higher-ups."

"I know you aspire to beco Chief Priest, but this is Bold! I am the Duke of Bold! I have a responsibility to the subjects of Bold!"

"If this matter blows up, even if you beco Chief Priest, you will be subject to investigation and punishnt! All your efforts will be in vain!"

After hearing the old Duke’s words, the Great Priest’s expression fluctuated.

A long while later, he heaved a long sigh:

"Duke, please do not be hasty, I will handle this matter..."

"Hmph! Please do so promptly!"

The old Duke snorted coldly and left with a sweep of his sleeve.

Watching the Bold Duke depart, the Great Priest’s expression was also unwell.

He glanced at the shattered Holy Emblem, his expression changing uncertainly, and after a long hesitation, it seed he made a certain resolution and tucked it into his chest.

The Great Priest had not deceived the old Duke, he had indeed sensed the terrifying aura left by the Evil God on the Holy Emblem.

Only, he did not tell the other that, even after so many purifications, the aura on the Holy Emblem had not completely disappeared...

This mysterious Evil God, his Position might be even higher than he had thought.

So high that even he, had begun to entertain a trace of madness...
