Louis V looked much younger than Charlotte rembered.
If years ago when she saw him at the New Moon Palace, he appeared as an aged elder, then now he seed to have rejuvenated, not only with his grey hair regaining its color, but even the wrinkles on his face nearly vanished, and those once murky eyes had beco sharp like an eagle's.
His age did not seem to be sixty or seventy, but rather as if he had returned to his thirties or forties.
The only thing that remained unchanged was his aura.
As the most revered king of the New Moon Kingdom for centuries, just standing there, he exuded an unparalleled majesty.
As for the nobles in the dimly lit chamber, there were eight of them, all current cabinet ministers of the New Moon Kingdom.
Apart from two with honorary positions, all the real power of the cabinet was gathered here.
They were either traditional royalist noblen or the new elite promoted by Louis V after the political purge in the New Moon Kingdom a couple of years back, and was a direct manifestation of Louis V's consolidation of absolute power.
Regardless whether it was Louis V or all the nobles present, they had one common feature.
That was, on their chests, all of them wore a gleaming Sun Badge.
This was the emblem of the Sun God Helios.
And also the deepest secret among the high ranks of the New Moon Kingdom.
With almost a glance, Charlotte understood the reason behind the New Moon King Louis V's longstanding opposition to the Holy Royal Court, and the true reason for his rapid rise in the Star Moon War.
Louis V... had long since pledged allegiance to the Sun Divine Palace and beca a believer of the Sun!
However, at this mont, the atmosphere in the entire chamber was not relaxed, on the contrary... it was sowhat oppressive.
"The intelligence from the Church Authority Country... has completely confird that the one from the New Moon... is indeed the incarnation of a deity! His power has surpassed the legendary, and... He has already reached a reconciliation with the Holy Royal Court..."
A great noble looked at the parchnt record in his hand, reading solemnly.
After speaking, he couldn't help but glance at the king sitting at the head, with a look of even fear on his face:
"Your Majesty... our plan needs to be changed! He is a god! A god walking the earth! If we rashly oppose a deity, only destruction awaits us!"
"He... even killed... killed..."
In the end, this noble looked at the Sun God Statue behind Louis V, his face filled with imnse fear and bewildernt.
Everyone's gaze involuntarily shifted to the silent Louis V at the head, they seed to have thought of the sa thing, with expressions ranging from fear, bewildernt, to anxiety:
"Indeed! Your Majesty, we must not! We must not, at this ti, oppose the Falling Star, oppose Him!"
"Even... even the light of the 'Sun' was extinguished in His hand..."
"God! That is a god who walks the earth! A deity even the great Sun God cannot combat!"
"He even achieved reconciliation with the Holy Royal Court! Your Majesty! Instead of waging war against the Falling Star to reclaim Roman, what is more important for us now is to quickly ease the tension with the Holy Royal Court, otherwise... we will likely be besieged from all sides!"
"..."
The nobles displayed urgency, their pupils filled with shock and panic, clearly frightened by the news from the Church Authority Country.
Looking at the frightened nobles, Louis V remained surprisingly calm.
"Is this... what all of you an?"
His gaze swept across all the cabinet ministers present.
The nobles collectively lowered their heads, not daring to et the increasingly unfathomable king's eyes, yet their evasive glances already spoke volus.
Louis V slowly retracted his gaze, speaking in a calm yet indisputable tone:
"Pacifying the Falling Star, reclaiming Roman, is our New Moon's national policy, everything is long since prepared, the plan cannot be altered."
The nobles' expressions changed:
"Your Majesty!"
Seeing their timid and fearful look, Louis V snorted coldly:
"A bunch of cowards! No wonder you haven't been able to defeat the noble faction all these years!"
"I know what you're afraid of, what you're worried about. You fear the power of the deity, you are terrified by the Sun's extinguishing..."
"But—"
At this point, Louis V suddenly paused, picking up the Sun Badge on the table, fiddling with it in his hand, he sneered:
"But who told you that the Sun's light is truly extinguished?"
The nobles were stunned.
They couldn't help but lift their heads, looking at the king at the head, and then... their eyes widened.
In the chamber, the dim magic lamps cast light upon Louis V.
Observing the golden glow flickering on Louis V's forehead, a golden Sun Emblem seed to flash in and out.
That emblem emitted a faint light, bestowing bits of divine power, adding a touch of divinity and transcendence to Louis V.
"The mark of a Divine Favored?!"
"Divine Favored?! You are a Divine Favored?!"
A noble exclaid.
"Your Majesty! Could it be... could it be our lord has not truly fallen?"
"Could it be we have not lost the blessing of the god?"
A noble exclaid in joy.
Louis V looked at them, speaking with deep aning:
"As long as the Holy Light is not extinguished, the Sun's light will naturally never go out..."
"Matters of the deity, you need not consider, nor do you need to worry about how to deal with the one of the Falling Star, what you need is to do well in your duties."
Saying this, his expression turned indifferent, his tone becoming brutal:
"Within a year, the Third Star-Moon War must comnce! Within three years, the Falling Star must be annihilated, the Dark Night Church... must be annihilated!"
"Your Majesty, is this... the God's oracle?"
A noble couldn't help but ask.
"No."
A flicker of golden light flashed through Louis V's pupils, he smiled slightly, the smile even making the great nobles in the chamber feel sowhat unfamiliar:
"This is my oracle."
Hearing Louis V's blasphemous and offensive words, the nobles were imdiately struck dumb.
They sowhat bewilderedly looked towards the king at the head, yet under his oppressive gaze, they all lowered their heads, as if so unknown will or instinct prevented them from confronting the king's eyes directly.
They were uncertain, their expressions changing.
Those with a religious background, knowing so mythical secrets, the great nobles widened their eyes, feeling shocked, vaguely making so speculations.
And finally, under so inexplicable pressure, their myriad words transford into a single response:
"Everything... in accordance with your... decree!"
Louis V laughed.
He picked up the goblet on the table, gulping down the rich wine, then coldly commanded:
"Issue a decree, summon all Kingdom Nobles for an imdiate audience in the palace..."
Hearing Louis V's words, the nobles' hearts skipped a beat, exchanging glances.
"Does that... does that include Him?"
A noble couldn't help but ask.
Louis V spoke with deep implication:
"I said, 'all' the Kingdom Nobles."
"But... but... will He co?"
Soone couldn't help but ask.
"Of course, He will not co, seeing that in His view, Castel is probably no longer a vassal of the New Moon, a deity would not heed the summons of a mortal king, of course... also precisely because He will not co."
Louis V said indifferently.
"What if she cos instead?"
Soone else asked.
But this ti, it was a clear female voice.
Almost instantly, Louis V and the cabinet ministers felt their hair stand on end.
In the New Moon Cabinet.
"Female" was but a singular presence.
