"Lady of the Dark Night?"

It seed that death was upon her as she began to hallucinate, thinking she heard the voice of the Lady of the Dark Night...

Sebastian mocked himself inwardly.

With a soft sigh, he closed his eyes, waiting for death to arrive.

However, it quickly beca apparent that sothing was amiss.

Suddenly, the world around him fell silent.

The acrid sll of burning fat and wood was gone.

Even the rising heat from the wooden hut in the fierce flas seed to have disappeared.

The crackling of the flas, the conversations of the Judgent Knights, all had vanished.

Almost subconsciously, Sebastian opened his eyes again and was imdiately taken aback.

What t his gaze was not the grey-white smoke accompanied by the light of fire and the dilapidated hut but familiar crimson mist, and the still imposing and solemn ancient castle...

Tier upon tier of ancient steps and the majestic Blood Throne at the center, a tall figure shrouded in crimson mist sat atop it.

The Lady of the Dark Night!

It was the Lady of the Dark Night!

The Lady of the Dark Night had summoned him to this strange spiritual world once again!

Sebastian’s spirit was invigorated.

Almost subconsciously, he thought to rise to salute, and then... he actually managed to stand up.

This was the spirit world.

Here, his hands and feet were whole, even his black tailcoat was still elegant and proper.

"Lady of the Dark Night...!"

Gazing up at the familiar figure on the throne, Sebastian’s voice was filled with excitent.

But soon, he grew anxious and ashadly lowered his head:

"I’m sorry, Lady of the Dark Night... Sebastian has failed, the Judgent Court caught off guard..."

Sebastian’s voice grew fainter, as various thoughts of regret churned in his mind.

anwhile, Charlotte, seated high on the throne, was also startled.

She could hear Sebastian’s true inner voice.

She now understood the real reason he wanted to follow her.

Damn...

So he regarded , with the Blood Holy Scripture, as a Bloodline True Ancestor who could revive his fortunes and achieve Divine Enthronent!

He really dares to dream big, I’m not even at the First Tier of the starry ranks...

He’s already pondering how he could achieve divine status himself!

With these weak arms and legs of mine, at most I could pose with a broken Divine Artifact; how could I possibly be a True Ancestor!

Wait... hold on...

Does he think I’m aware of all this?

Does he think he’s engaged in a tacit transaction with ?

So that’s why he’s been so obsequious?

What the hell is all this!

Listening to Sebastian’s voice, as chaotic as an old-fashioned radio, Charlotte was bewildered.

But after her confusion, she quickly ca to understand quite a bit.

The strong ones all have their own pride.

Like Sebastian, who turned into a bootlicker not long after they t—that was definitely not normal.

Now that she knew his true thoughts, it all made sense.

He wasn’t truly obsequious.

Obsequiousness was just his way of alleviating the anxiety and nervousness in his heart.

Obsequious, because he felt guilty.

He believed this "Evil God" would not accept his reasons for following.

He was ambitious and proud; he felt he could not simply serve the deity from the standpoint of a pure believer.

Yet he desperately desired the power of the deity.

He wanted to follow, but feared his true intentions would arouse the deity’s wrath...

Charlotte didn’t know what the deities of Mireya might think of Sebastian’s mindset.

Perhaps they would indeed feel the anger Sebastian imagined toward those who follow them with the goal of "becoming a god," viewing such audacious thoughts as a desecration of their majesty.

Maybe, in their eyes, humble mortals have no right to haggle with deities; what the deities grant is a gift, and what mortals give is due.

Regardless of what the true deities thought, Charlotte certainly didn’t share that mindset.

Perhaps her transmigrator status led her to lack enough reverence for Mireya’s deities.

Perhaps her education from her past life made her adopt a value system of "even kings and nobles must not lose their ambition."

Or maybe the existence of the Blood Holy Scripture granted her more confidence than she even realized herself.

In any case...

She didn’t find Sebastian’s thoughts unacceptable, nor did she think they were blasphemous.

Just want to achieve divine status?

When one attains enlightennt, all their dependents rise too.

If one day she could also ascend to a Divine Throne, as long as her followers were loyal enough, what would be wrong with sharing a little of that position?

*At the sa ti, a peculiar idea began to spread in Charlotte’s mind...*

It seed... in this world, mortals could also beco gods.

If even Sebastian harbored thoughts of divine enshrinent, why couldn’t she, with the Blood Holy Scripture, give it a try?

What’s the point of pretending to be an Evil God with a Divine Artifact?

To beco a true deity would make her crossing worthwhile!

Of course, one step at a ti, one bite at a ti.

She didn’t even have a Rank yet and had not inherited her domain; thinking about becoming a god now would be like fretting over whether to attend Tsinghua or Peking University when she hadn’t even finished primary school.

Knowing Sebastian’s true intentions made things simpler.

She perford the second Blood Summon to save him and to wholly subjugate him.

And now, it was ti to be frank.

With this thought, Charlotte gently tapped the armrest, and her cool, authoritative voice rose from the Blood Throne, with a hint of disappointnt:

"You are indeed useless, not just useless but foolish."

"Your high profile might as well let the whole world know your relationship with Castel, binding yourself to the war chariot of Castel."

"Your arrogance has never allowed you to face true loyalty, imprisoning yourself in shackles of your own making."

"And your foolishness has plunged both you and the Rose Association into an unprecedented crisis..."

Upon hearing Charlotte’s words, Sebastian’s face turned even paler.

He felt that every sentence from Lady Dark Night struck his spirit, exposing all the careful thoughts and uneasiness he had long harbored in his heart.

She knows!

She really knows everything!

She has been waiting for to voice my own desires!

This is not an unspoken transaction...

It is my own one-sided arrogance!

Perceiving the implied aning in Lady Dark Night’s words, Sebastian suddenly looked ashen.

He knew he had disappointed her.

However, just as Sebastian began to despair, the deity seated on the throne changed the subject:

"However..."

"As a butler on probation, your abilities are indeed competent."

"Even when being hunted by the Judgent Court, you did not expose your master’s secrets."

"Sebastian, not as a follower of a deity, but as a follower of the Earl of Castel—Charlotte de Castel..."

"Would you offer up your loyalty to ?"

Sebastian was slightly startled, and he looked up blankly, his expression astonished.

In the midst of the mist, he still couldn’t clearly see Lady Dark Night’s features, but he seed to sense the faint smile in her words.

Suddenly realizing sothing, Sebastian grew excited:

"You... What do you an?"

The silhouette on the throne continued:

"Every person has their own pursuits, and I have never cared about what you term ’blasphemous thoughts’ in your heart."

"All I care about... is whether you are truly loyal."

"I cannot promise you anything, for... I am currently nothing more than a weak little girl."

"But as the heir to Castel, I naturally will not mistreat those who are loyal to ."

"As long as your deeds match your entitlent, even if it’s the stars in the sky, why not pluck them down in the future to reward you?"

Sebastian understood.

He was almost instantly invigorated, and he began to cheer in his heart:

She hasn’t given up on !

Lady Dark Night hasn’t given up on !

She does not care about my ambition, She is willing to give a chance!

A true deity!

This is a true deity!

A true deity represents absolute confidence and majesty, represents absolute power and authority!

A true deity... does not care about the ambitions of mortals!

"I am willing! I am willing to truly submit to You! To beco Your sword and shield!"

"I wish to witness Your return to greatness, to witness You ascend to the Divine Throne!"

"I... by my true na, Sebastian Flaheart, swear this!"

Sebastian said excitedly.

He respectfully knelt on the ground, performing the Elf Clan’s most ancient Obedience Ceremony.

But when he raised his head again, he was montarily startled.

At so point, the crimson mist atop the throne had dissipated, and he saw Lady Dark Night’s appearance for the first ti.

He didn’t know how to describe her nobility and beauty.

The magnificent silver hair, deep and mysterious crimson-golden eyes, the elegant pose, and the splendidly somber black divine gown, made it difficult for him to think of the right words to praise that transcendent mysteriousness and perfection...

With just one glance, he was almost spellbound, then promptly bowed his head in respect, daring not to take a second look.

"Lift your head."

The majestic and lodious voice ca from the throne.

Sebastian almost subconsciously lifted his head and saw that Lady Dark Night now held a crystal goblet.

This goblet swirled with scarlet liquid, shimring with a luminous sheen.

Lady Dark Night waved her hand gently, and the crystal goblet floated in front of Sebastian.

"In that case, drink this Cup of Covenant Blood," she said.

"I certainly don’t wish to see one of my own Favored having just been chosen, to then perish for the cause."

"Think carefully."

"Once you drink it, you will beco one of my Blood Favored, never to betray, permanently marked as mine..."

"Of course, you will also obtain so magical powers."

Lady Dark Night said with a smile.

Sebastian didn’t hesitate.

He decisively took the crystal goblet and drained the scarlet liquid within.

The next mont, a dazzling crimson brilliance burst forth from his body.

Sebastian felt an indescribable, peculiar power enter his consciousness, and vaguely... he felt he had ford a strange connection with the Lady Dark Night on the throne.

This peculiar power quickly crossed from dreams to reality, flowing through Sebastian’s physical body in reality.

To his astonishnt, Sebastian realized he could feel his body in the real world and that his shattered form was rapidly healing!

However, Sebastian’s focus soon moved away from his own body.

He couldn’t help but look again at the Lady Dark Night on the throne.

After he drank the Cup of Covenant Blood and formally pledged loyalty to Lady Dark Night, he felt a sudden change in her deanor.

The ancient Dark Night Ancient Castle began to tremble, and the crimson mist erupted.

Under Sebastian’s awed gaze, an ancient and vast aura began to rise from Charlotte...

The Charlotte seated high on her throne was also startled.

Her Majesty Skill... had just reached perfection.

The light of the Spirit Path burst forth like flas, ascending the first step on the path of inheritance and advancent!

She, was about to advance.

And... it seed not quite ordinary.
