"Lilith, Haral."
Seeing the two little carrot-tops running towards her, one after the other, Charlotte also revealed a warm smile.
However, as her gaze fell on the muddy and grass-covered little straw sandals on their feet, her eyebrows quickly raised:
"You two... did you sneak out of the tribe to play again?"
Upon hearing Charlotte’s words, Lilith guiltily shrank her neck.
She was about to say sothing but suddenly tensed her little face, and hastily pulled Haral to hide behind Charlotte.
As the two little ones had just hid themselves, Halfdan’s familiar loud voice could be heard not far away:
"Lilith! Haral! You two disobedient little rascals! Stop right there!"
Charlotte raised an eyebrow, only to see Halfdan approaching, panting with a vine whip in his hand that would undoubtedly hurt if used.
He was fully ard, even carrying a bow and spears on his back, clearly having just returned from patrolling outside the tribe.
"Lord Halfdan, were you on duty today?"
Charlotte said with a smile.
"Ah, Lord Apocalypse Heir... Greetings!"
Seeing Charlotte, Halfdan imdiately stood up straight, hid the vine whip, and respectfully bowed.
After that, he glared huffily at the two kids hiding behind her:
"You two little troublemakers! Always hiding behind Lord Apocalypse Heir, co out here!"
"Lord Apocalypse Heir sister! He... he’s going to hit us!"
Seeing the frantic Halfdan, Lilith quickly made a pitiful face, tugging at Charlotte’s hem and acting coquettishly.
Looking at the little loli who might very well be the Bloodline Ancestor of the future, Charlotte felt quite amused.
She smiled at Halfdan and said,
"Lord Halfdan, let’s talk this over. There’s no need for violence."
"No way, Lord Apocalypse Heir! They won’t learn if they aren’t punished!"
"You don’t know! They sneaked out of the tribe again today!"
Halfdan said, puffing angrily.
"I... we didn’t go too far..."
Lilith pouted.
"Not going too far makes it okay? Don’t you know that it’s very dangerous outside the Sanctuary Tower’s range? What if you encountered Wild Beasts?"
Halfdan scolded.
"That won’t happen! We’ve recently... um, self-taught many skills! Even if we encounter Wild Beasts, we can definitely retreat unhard. We might even be able to kill it and bring it back!"
Lilith said, chest puffed out with pride.
Halfdan beca even more incensed:
"Nonsense! What do you think Wild Beasts are? Dostic chickens?! Even I have to be extrely cautious around them; do you really think you’re as experienced as the Gale Hunters?!"
"But, what I’m saying is true, we..."
Lilith pursed her lips, wanting to continue her rebuttal.
But when she caught Charlotte’s seemingly casual glance sweeping her way, she quickly swallowed her words, and after a long struggle, she squeezed out the rest of her sentence:
"We... we’ll be careful..."
"Being careful is enough? Haven’t I told you how dangerous it is outside? Tell , where did you two run off to this ti?"
"I... we... we went to catch fish."
Lilith glanced at Charlotte, then slightly lowered her head, twisting her fingers and sulking.
"Catching fish?"
Halfdan paused, then exclaid in anger:
"You went fishing? Don’t you know that the water can sotis be more dangerous than land?! What’s the point of catching fish for no reason?!"
Lilith pursed her lips and said with a hint of grievance,
"The uncles in our tribe say that eating fish can be nourishing for the body..."
"You... you always use the Divine Bow, and we... we just wanted to catch so fish to help you recover your strength..."
Hearing Lilith’s words, Halfdan was montarily stunned, and his hand holding the vine stopped mid-air.
He looked at the two children with a complex gaze, eventually sighed, and tossed the vine aside.
After hesitating for a mont, he reached out and gently ruffled the heads of the two little ones, his angry tone softening,
"Daddy doesn’t need you to catch fish, Daddy is very healthy."
"Don’t sneak out again in the future, understand?"
Lilith and Haral covertly glanced at Charlotte and then nodded earnestly:
"We... understand."
"Okay, let’s consider this matter settled. Co back with . If there’s a next ti, you two little rascals can expect to be confined to bed for three days straight!"
Halfdan threatened with a stern look in his eyes.
After saying that, he bowed to Charlotte:
"I apologize, Lord Apocalypse Heir, for making you witness such a farce."
"It’s alright, their intentions were good, although... sneaking out of the tribe alone was indeed recklessly thoughtless."
Charlotte spoke.
anwhile, she glanced at the two little ones, who couldn’t help but shrink their necks:
"We... know we were wrong."
"Now that you know you were wrong, co back with !"
Halfdan snorted.
He bowed to Charlotte again and then led the two deflated little ones away.
Watching the three figures disappear into the distance, Charlotte couldn’t help but let out a wry smile.
She took a deep breath and turned to walk in the other direction.
Leaving the North Mountain Tribe’s dwelling, Charlotte ca to the edges guarded by Sanctuary Tower, within a rather dense forest.
This area, where the concentration of magic power was relatively higher, had been Charlotte’s daily ditation spot for the past half a month.
Ever since the Priest Elder of the North Mountain Tribe learned about it, he had specifically instructed the tribe not to disturb her here.
Thus, it had beco Charlotte’s private "back garden."
During the day, she spent much of her ti here, and at night, when Halfdan’s family was in deep sleep, she would quietly leave the North Mountain Tribe and hunt Wild Beasts outside to absorb Transcendent blood.
In half a month’s ti, nearly all the Wild Beasts within a twenty-kiloter radius centered around the North Mountain Tribe had been nearly eradicated by Charlotte.
The effect was obvious.
As she continuously replenished herself with Transcendent blood, her body’s magic power beca more abundant and had almost returned to its peak before her slumber.
Arriving in the forest, Charlotte sank into her consciousness, connecting with the Blood Holy Scripture, and further integrated the Blood Divine Power she had just intercepted using the Moon God’s Divine Technique.
Within her consciousness, the Blood Holy Scripture shone brilliantly, and the connection to the Blood Contract at the depths of Charlotte’s soul beca clearer.
After an unknown amount of ti, Charlotte gently opened her eyes.
She glanced in the corner of her eye at the area behind her and said with a smile,
"If you’ve co all this way, why hide?"
With that, the bushes nearby shook, and two small figures erged from within.
The older sister in the lead, the younger brother following, the forr holding the latter’s hand.
It was none other than Lilith and Haral.
The two ca up behind Charlotte, curtsied cutely, and called out with a mix of excitent, fear, and fondness,
"Te... Teacher!"
