"He finally died, huh? It took him longer than I expected."
Charlotte’s raised goblet paused slightly before she slowly brought the milk to her lips.
"After all, he was a Blazing Sun. His foundation was still there. In fact, I thought the old Duke could have held on a bit longer. Those of the Power series Blazing Sun are bound to have more vitality than Spellcasters."
Sebastian couldn’t help but reflect as he looked at the letter brought by the ssenger.
Charlotte, however, showed interest:
"This is the first ti I’ve heard this, Sebastian. Under normal circumstances, how long can a Blazing Sun Strong usually live?"
Sebastian was not puzzled by Charlotte’s sudden question of common knowledge.
He knew that their "deity’s" mories had not fully revived, and he didn’t think a "deity" would be that concerned with mortal affairs.
Especially since the other party was the ancient Blood True Ancestor, immortal from the mont of birth, utterly without the concept of a lifespan limit.
"It varies by race, I suppose. For us of the Elf Clan, the average lifespan is already over a thousand years, and there aren’t many changes before reaching Legendary status. For short-lived species like humans... If they remain injury and disease-free, living to eighty or ninety is not a problem."
Sebastian answered respectfully.
"Eighty or ninety years? That short?"
Charlotte raised an eyebrow.
"For humans, it’s already quite remarkable since the average human lifespan isn’t even sixty years."
Sebastian shook his head, then said:
"Not to ntion how could Transcendents not carry hidden ailnts? Most Blazing Suns have slaughtered their way through heaps of corpses, and even Spellcasters break through their selves amidst magic tides, each of which is harmful to the body. Humans are not born as Magic Creatures; it’s only normal for the true lifespan of Transcendents to be much shorter..."
"As far as I know, in the human world, there are many Blazing Suns like the old Duke who have exhausted their life’s potential at a young age, particularly in wars."
"However, humans are so nurous that although those Blazing Suns and Legendaries appear fleeting like shooting stars to you and , such stars... Each era has far too many, enough to propel the entire race to the peak of the civilized world."
Charlotte was genuinely surprised.
As long as she could regularly obtain a blood source, Bloodline mbers can be immortal, so since Crossing over, Charlotte had not paid much attention to the lifespan of Transcendents in this world.
The old Duke’s fall had made her sowhat sentintal and also piqued her interest in learning about the lifespan of Transcendents.
And from this inquiry, she learned that aside from great strength, tier-entering Transcendents actually don’t live much longer than ordinary people!
"I had thought each Blazing Sun could live well over a hundred years."
Charlotte couldn’t help but express her thoughts.
After pondering, Sebastian said:
"Perhaps for a Legendary, they may. It seems that most human Legendaries can live up to a hundred and twenty or thirty years, but that’s already the limit for short-lived species."
"A hundred twenty or thirty years? But I’ve read so records where so Legendary Mages even managed to live two or three hundred years."
Charlotte was sowhat surprised.
Sebastian continued to answer respectfully:
"Master, although mortals’ power is not as vast as that of deities, mortals often find alternative paths, inventing all sorts of strange magic, including kinds that can prolong life..."
"However, such magic typically has significant side effects and requires irreversible alterations to the body. Those two or three hundred-year-old human Legendary Mages... Speaking from the degree of their physical transformations, they probably can’t be considered human anymore."
Charlotte nodded slightly.
That did explain why the Blazing Suns she had seen never seed very old, even the lower tier-entering ones were younger than she had imagined.
Unlike Immortal Martial novels where stronger Cultivators live longer, in the world of Mireya, aside from their powerful strength, Transcendents don’t differ much from ordinary people.
"The reason mortals are mortal is precisely because, no matter how strong they get, they cannot escape the erosion of ti."
"The most formidable human Legendaries can even make incarnated Demigods wary, and can even contend against deities in Saint State, but even such terrifying existences who can slay gods will after a century be no more than fleeting clouds..."
"Life is too short; countless Legendary Mages facing the end of their lifespan would rather fall into the Dark and beco Witch Demons than return to the Divine Country, driven by the sa reason. However... even as Witch Demons, it’s rely clinging on to a re existence."
"True eternity belongs only to gods."
Reflecting on the various legends he knew, Sebastian felt a touch of lancholy.
Observing Sebastian, the Elf with a long life ahead, lant the brevity of life, Charlotte felt sowhat bemused.
But considering that his benchmark was the eternal gods, it was quite understandable.
Divine Enthronent... that was the main reason Sebastian chose to follow her.
At this mont, Charlotte suddenly felt that being Bloodline was really advantageous.
When it ca to lifespan, despite the need for regular Blood Sucking, the nurous restrictions, and the occasional need for lengthy sleeps... the immortal Bloodline were indeed the only beings who could contest with gods over who could endure the longest.
In the stories, not even giant dragons with lifespans of three thousand years could outlast those Bloodline mbers who could cling to life!
