He slid the car door open, sat down, and Li Chengyi glanced toward the driver’s seat.
It was a middle-aged woman with her hair tied in a ponytail.
"Boss, where to?"
"Just follow the navigation," Li Chengyi responded.
"Okay!" The woman’s accent was clearly different from that of Fuzong Province, indicating that she was from out of town.
"You’re not from around here, are you, driver?" Li Chengyi’s curiosity was piqued, and he struck up a casual conversation. "It’s my first ti in Yunshan County. Why does it seem like the people here are a bit strange?"
"Yes, everyone feels that way their first ti here." The female driver laughed. "This place, for so reason, it always feels especially comforting to rest, anything you eat tastes delicious, fragrant, and one’s mood tends to improve unconsciously. People also don’t fight with each other, everything is very harmonious."
"Yunshan County must have at least a million people, right? How can so many people be this harmonious?" Li Chengyi asked.
"It is strange indeed, so it must be because of good Feng Shui. Otherwise, how could there be such odd occurrences? As far as I know, many young people who go out to work return soon after. They all say that life is not as comfortable elsewhere as it is in Yunshan," the female driver said with a laugh.
"That is indeed odd," Li Chengyi nodded. "Driver, have you heard of a place called Du Family Village around here?"
Du Family Village was where the boss fell into a coma, and it was also the location that Song Ran had initially ntioned.
"Du Family Village? There’s a famous attraction there called Wolf Cave. A lot of people used to co there to study the geographic environnt and such. You’re going there to see Wolf Cave, aren’t you?" the female driver quickly replied.
When it ca to Wolf Cave, she suddenly seed to have an endless number of topics to discuss, such as film crews that frequently ca to shoot scenes and experts who studied the geography, water quality, and soil. Ancient grave goods had also been unearthed there.
In any case, Wolf Cave was a rather mysterious place.
Li Chengyi had also researched information prior to coming, according to the situation transmitted by Song Ran.
The Blue Book left behind by Lien was very likely to be found inside Wolf Cave.
So the boss, Xindela, personally led a team to Du Family Village to investigate.
During a split-up operation, Xindela and Sima Gui together with three other experienced wilderness explorers, all mysteriously collapsed to the ground.
By the ti Song Ran’s team arrived, the boss was completely in a coma and never woke up again.
Li Chengyi listened to the driver’s narration while pondering in his mind.
’From the looks of it, it doesn’t seem to be related to the Blind Spot. But since Song Ran asked to co here, there could be so hidden details unknown to others.’
"Boss, we’ve arrived," the driver said at that mont, pulling Li Chengyi out of his thoughts.
Outside the car window, a two-story white building appeared before Li Chengyi’s eyes.
To the left of the big door was a white sign with black characters: Yunshan County Library.
In front of the door, a familiar figure was already standing there waiting.
The person was sturdy, wearing tea-colored sunglasses, with a serious expression, dressed in a simple denim jacket and gray trousers.
It was Song Ran.
Li Chengyi paid the fare and got out of the car.
"Brother Song!" He waved to the other man.
"You’re here!" Song Ran removed his glasses, and his face visibly relaxed a little.
"Co on in. We were going through county records, looking for clues about the boss’s coma."
"How’s the boss?"
"In the hospital. They don’t have the necessary life support equipnt here," Song Ran sighed. "Originally, we thought this investigation would proceed thodically like before, investigating the Blind Spot, locating nearby Blind Spot Individuals, and then finding traces of information left by Lien. But unexpectedly..."
The two talked in low voices as they went inside.
With Song Ran’s explanation, Li Chengyi finally understood the situation they were facing here.
"Here, at first, we discovered that Lien had entered Wolf Cave and left sothing behind. Lien initially ca for the Blue Book, and he did indeed read the Blue Book, realizing that it didn’t contain instructions on how to escape the Blind Spot, but detailed a special Blind Spot language mastered by the great calligrapher Wu Guangcheng.
Only by learning that written language can one find a real and complete way to escape from the Blind Spot.
Moreover, the Blue Book is said to contain so mysterious knowledge, all related to the Blind Spot.
So, the boss wanted to co here to find the Blue Book that was once circulated," Song Ran hastily explained.
"Indeed, we found a place called Wolf Cave here, but upon investigation, we learned that this Wolf Cave is not the sa as the one Lien entered. The Wolf Cave Lien went into is not an ordinary Wolf Cave in reality, but a Blind Spot known as Wolf Cave."
"...Blind Spot?" Li Chengyi frowned.
Anything linked to the Blind Spot becos dangerous and complicated.
"Yes, the Blind Spot," Song Ran nodded.
Both n entered the library. In the reading room of the main hall, they saw Sima Gui and another strange person wrapped in a thick gray coat.
"Brother Gui... Are you all right?" Li Chengyi noticed that Sima Gui’s complexion was extrely haggard.
"I’m okay, not going to die... That damned place, I don’t want to enter it a second ti," Sima Gui said weakly, waving his hand.
"Is he your reinforcent?" The strange individual beside him unexpectedly lifted his head, his pale yellow eyes fixed on Li Chengyi.
This peculiar person’s entire head was wrapped in a gray scarf, leaving only their eyes exposed.
Their height was roughly one ter sixty-sothing, a bit short, with a neither fat nor thin build, and their gaze was indifferent with a hint of scrutiny.
Their voice sounded as if it had been scorched by fire, extrely hoarse and unpleasant.
"Mr. Mu, if we want to find the Blue Book, we must enter the true Wolf Cave. But it was not easy for to get in once; it was impossible. The peril of the Wolf Cave Blind Spot far exceeded my expectations, and the suppression of technological items is the strongest we’ve encountered so far in any Blind Spot."
Sima Gui explained in a heavy voice from the side.
"So, he’s useful just because he ca?" asked the strange person, known as Mr. Mu, in a deep voice. "The Blue Book is stored deep within the Wolf Cave, and I don’t believe this young man can accomplish that. High-frequency Flash Appearance only ans he can enter easily and in a tily manner. But the hardest part is breaking through the obstacles and retrieving the Blue Book."
"We are preparing on both fronts, just as Mr. Mu yourself suggested. Finding that Blind Spot Individual from the He Family, He Bing, is the key to everything. And my brother’s arrival hasn’t disrupted any of our previous arrangents; we can proceed with both, right?" Song Ran said gravely.
He looked at the sowhat puzzled Li Chengyi and extended his hand to introduce him.
"This is Mr. Mu, one of the Blind Spot Individuals we encountered inside the Wolf Cave Blind Spot. It was he who told us the reason for our boss’s coma was because of the Blue Book."
"Alright, no more wasting ti, I might enter the Wolf Cave at any mont. The support you promised must be in place today!" Mr. Mu said sternly.
"Mr. Mu, Brother Cheng Yi here has dealt with several Blind Spots; his arrival this ti will surely be of great help to us..." Song Ran began to explain further.
"Enough. Other Blind Spots are not the sa as the Wolf Cave. You really know nothing. If you want to save your boss, just follow my plan," Mr. Mu interrupted impatiently.
"I’m leaving now." He turned and left, paying no heed to the others, striding away.
Li Chengyi frowned as he watched him leave.
"Could soone tell why we have to listen to him?"
"Mr. Mu’s purpose is aligned with ours; he is also searching for the Blue Book. And it was the Blue Book that led to our boss’s coma.
According to other experts who fell into comas and later woke up, they personally saw the boss flipping through the Blue Book that He Bing handed over to him right before they lost consciousness," Sima Gui answered.
"So, to understand why the boss fell into a coma, we need to get our hands on the Blue Book, right?" Li Chengyi asked.
"Exactly. Now the Blue Book is likely deep within the Wolf Cave. We don’t know how He Bing acquired it, but he did and also returned it, so we must locate him as soon as possible.
We’ve tried but can’t get into the Wolf Cave to retrieve the Blue Book – only He Bing knows how to safely enter. He probably holds the secret to escaping the Wolf Cave Blind Spot," explained Sima Gui.
"Therefore, whether it’s for the Blue Book or for the escaping thod, we must find He Bing," he concluded.
"Where is He Bing now? What’s his location?" Li Chengyi felt a headache coming on; there were too many unknowns in this situation.
"We don’t know. That’s exactly what’s troubling us. Once Blind Spot Individuals leave temporarily, if they an to conceal themselves, no one knows who he really is or where he is," Song Ran said helplessly.
"Which hospital is the boss in? I want to see him first." Li Chengyi thought of his Radiance Field and decided to try it out regardless, as curing the illness would alleviate one major issue.
"He’s at the Second People’s Hospital of the county; I’ll take you there," said Song Ran. "There are dical experts from our company there, as well as hired bodyguards, so security isn’t an issue."
"Also... I don’t have a good feeling about that Mr. Mu, so when you take his advice, be extra vigilant. Don’t trust him blindly," Li Chengyi said earnestly.
"Don’t worry, we’re not so easily deceived. After all, we’ve been with the boss for so many years," Song Ran affird with a nod. "The place where the boss and others fell unconscious was also found with Mr. Mu’s guidance. His goal is simple; he needs us to provide monetary and resource support. The Blue Book is just a book; it’s not like once one person reads it, others can’t. So, there is no fundantal conflict of interests between us."
"..." Li Chengyi didn’t say much more.
Song Ran had been following the Boss for so many years; surely he knew who was calling the shots, didn’t he?
"Once I’ve seen the boss, I’ll make a trip to the Wolf Cave and try to Flash Appearance into it. Brother Song, you stand by outside, and Brother Gui, do you want to give it a try with ?" he asked gravely.
"Okay...!" Sima Gui gritted his teeth, feeling that for the sake of the boss, it was worth another attempt.
"But you’d best be careful. I’ve been in the Wolf Cave; it’s very dangerous. The real danger isn’t that big entrance, but rather, once inside, there’s a mysterious and dangerous Blue Cave.
That Blue Cave emits a blue light and will unexpectedly unleash a powerful attraction force from ti to ti, drawing in everything around it."
"A Blue Cave?" Li Chengyi narrowed his eyes. "Do you know what’s inside the cave?"
"We don’t know. We’ve tested with ropes, and all of them disappeared into thin air once they entered. According to Mr. Mu, that Blue Cave is a non-door," Sima Gui said somberly.
"A non-door? What is that?" Li Chengyi was hearing this term for the first ti.
"Mr. Mu says that Blind Spots are gateways linking all the worlds we can comprehend, which ans they are the corners of our cognition," Song Ran explained from the side.
"And beyond the Blind Spots... lies everything outside our cognition."
"That Blue Cave is a natural non-door that links to what lies beyond our cognition. In other words, a door that cannot be comprehended."
